I've just noticed that a thread I started with my own photo from my Picture Gallery in the OP has cut off the photo 1/2 way horizontally. The full photo shows in the Picture Gallery, however.

I'm assuming this is to save space on threads. But it messed up the post because an important part of the photo got cut off.

Is there a guideline for the limit we need to stick by in size of our photo so it won't get cut off?

To embed larger photos without them being cutoff, do the following:

After copying and pasting the URL for the photo(s) you want in your post, highlight and delete the letters "ats" in the brackets at the beginning and the end of the URL. Example:

[atsimg] files.abovetopsecret.com... [/atsimg]

If you don't remove the "ats" the picture will be cut off thusly:

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/c5d5cfc6f0f3.jpg[/atsimg]

If you remove the "ats" the picture will be posted with scrollbars:

Example: files.abovetopsecret.com... " target='_blank' class='tabOff'/>

Okay that worked.

But do you also know what it is I need to do to scale down the photo so it's not so huge? I have Photoshop and I tried to do this before I posted this but I don't know how.

Never mind! I did something I hate to do and read the directions. Although it's too late for me to try it out on my thread because it's been 4 hours and I can't edit.

But thanks so much for your help!!

Does anyone know the max picture size that will not be cut off?

It used to be 640 pixels max width, but I believe that has now been changed to 680 pixels

I'm confused.

I went in to Photoshop and gave this a 680 pixels and when you check properties of the photo it says 680 pixels but when I post it doesn't look like 680:

Try using [ats] tags instead of [atsimg]. See if that helps

It didn't help.

I noticed the properties of your photo says "1024px...(scaled to 680 px...). Does that have anything to do with it?

This is the code I typed to get the clickable picture above. The picture is 1024x768, but scaled to 680x510 like this:

[url=http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/7672bf2058cd.jpg] [ats=680x510]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/7672bf2058cd.jpg[/ats][/url]

Your all forgetting about the special lolcat tag..

For example if you want to post a picture of a ginger cat as above you just write

[atslolcat=ginger,680x510&caption="I can has tags"]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/100d6ee16525.jpg[/atslolcat]

and you get

Yup, the url part was only to make the picture clickable (to see the full sized picture with a simple click). I "jammed" the tag, in order to show the code. Btw, the cat's name is Dennis, and the flowers are of the crocus family. The yellow stuff in the middle of the flowers is saffron. The original picture is 3648x2736 (Samsung S1050). I have no idea why Mary Rose's 680x510 picture is not showing up as a 680.

Are you saying that you uploaded the photo to ATS as 1024x768 but the tag reduces it for you? I don't have to do this before I upload it?

If that is the case, how did you know the number "510" to make it in proportion?
