Doubtful.

It's just a great pic.

Also shows you don't need ultra expensive satellites to get a good look at the sun.

So two filaments are making a very rough ring shape, I don't see the big deal.

And all I asked is if it's happened before.Reasonable question I thinks..
I think the sheer size, 400000kms scares some..

Filaments have happened before, coronal holes have happened before.

If two filaments have formed a ring of sorts before, I don't know but it's akin to trying to find two identical cloud formations.

As the article at Spaceweather says, the lower part is a filament connected to sunspot 1112.

The top part is a coronal hole I think.

Solar wind from that is on it's way to earth and will arrive on the 19th - 20th.

Honey were having guest for dinner... dont forget to get the good china and silver out.

thank god there isnt a full moon out this week i dont think i could handle people effected by this and a full moon.

wont you come.....wash away the rain

.

In my eyes, indisposed
In disguise as no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
The sun in my disgrace
Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again

Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore

Hang my head, drown my fear
Till you all just disappear

My internet connection been up & down for few days. I'm living in Singapore and the atmosphere today is stinging dry though nothing visibly unusual.

Thanks, whether it's a hazard or not, it does seem very close to a perfect circle.
Looks amazing and to think its nearly half a million miles across.

There isn't really any "ring" developing. There are two (at least) quite separate filaments which can be seen more clearly in the 193nm image

Are you saying the OP's pics are fake?
I ask because I can clearly see a ring in their pics.
I'm not saying there is any danger because I have NFI about the Sun but if the OP's pics are legit then IMO there IS a ring.
