Hey guys, i'm kinda pressed for time so i didn't get a chance to research this like i wanted but i wanted to put it up before work.

We have small tremors alot here in Arkansas, most cant' be felt but today there have been an unusually high amount.

The second link points out 45 quakes since last wednsday

Just wanted to get some of your thoughts, may be no big deal, just odd.

Found this article from 2009 and thought it would apply to your post. Here's a snippet of the article:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A previously unknown fault in eastern Arkansas could trigger a magnitude 7 earthquake with an epicenter near a major natural gas pipeline, a scientist said Wednesday.

Haydar Al-Shukri, the director of the Arkansas Earthquake Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, said the fault is separate from the New Madrid fault responsible for a series of quakes in 1811-12 that caused the Mississippi River to flow backward.

Here's the link www.foxnews.com...

Out of curiosity, has anyone come across any news stories pertaining to the potential to damage of the pipeline from these earthquakes?

Really? I didn't know that Arkansas had a separate fault line. I've been watching the new activity. Wonder if it could affect the New Madrid. Anyway, you got me searching for pipeline info and this is what I turned up

U.S. Energy Information Administration
Arkansas map, no pipelines, but had some interesting stuff: www.eia.doe.gov...

Wonder how close that separate fault line comes to the nuke plant?

The fault line discovered last year is nowhere near the nuclear facility, it is approximately 100 miles south southeast of Little Rock and the nuclear plant is roughly 80 miles northwest of Little Rock. If it were to produce a magnitude 7+ quake it's not far enough in my opinion.

These recent earthquakes are in an area that has historically not had very much seismic activity. There have been sporadic small temblors but not in the numbers we are seeing now. below is a list of quakes in the area from 1, Oct. 2010 to 10, Oct. 2010. Most were too small to be felt but this was not occurring in these numbers prior to the drilling in the Fayetteville Shale.

Have some fun with this one:

WAITING FOR THE BIG ONE: A connection between Deepwater, Earthquakes, and other Deep-Well Drilling?

Thanks for all the info and great post.

They have been pumping an enormous amount of natural gas out of that area, i believe that is playing a part in what is going on with the quakes.

thanks again

We can only guess the actual amount of gas being pumped out as the gas companies will not publish the amount they gather in their 24 hour tests as they are supposed to. The royalty checks come with a statement that is all but impossible to decipher as well. Having said that; the well on the property adjoining mine is producing 1.2 million cubic feet of gas per day according to the man who reads the meters for the gas company. The wells across the state are producing enough gas to warrant building a 48" and a 36" or 40" high pressure gas main that run across most of the state.

I used to live in Rose Bud Arkansas. I remember when the gas companies came in in around 2006 I believe; one thing that struck me odd was how often lightning would strike the ground after they started drilling. Over the course of a month we had three trees explode due to lightning strike. Another bolt even struck our house, Then recently I heard about the tremors. I think it is very plausible that pumping out enough gas from the ground can cause the earth to become charged; as well as cause earthquakes when releaving pressure from the gas wells. Maybe is project HAARP or something. I don't really know. But could it be a possiblilty?

Rosebud is 8 miles north of me, apparently we were neighbors and didn't know it. I hadn't thought about the increased number of lightning strikes possibly being related to the gas drilling, but I too have noticed an increase in the number of lightning strikes during thunderstorms. That is until the recent dry season that has come upon us.

I don't share the view that this is related to HAARP though, I feel that it is from the fracking process they are using to get to the gas. Where the quakes are happening is where the most drilling has occurred. The gas companies are constantly moving more drill rigs into this area, so I am anticipating that we will start having some small quakes in this area within the next 18 - 24 months. Hopefully I am wrong about this as there are at least 10 wells within a mile of my house.

I believe these quakes will continue to get more frequent, i just hope there isn't a "big one".

I'll be watching the news and USGS.

5 Arkansas Earthquakes in 2 days

Here is my thread from earlier this summer about a brand new fault in NW Arkansas that is unrelated to the New Madrid Fault. Personally I think there is an East-West line from Georgia through Oklahoma that is getting active. I don't know if it will trigger the New Madrid, or if it will replace it, but I think the next big one in the Midwest will be different than predicted, and it will change the landscape dramatically. It might still be centuries away, but some major geological shift is occuring in this area.

Interesting, my husband is from Arkansas and is on his way back there for 4 weeks next week... when I asked him he said he'd never witnessed a quake but knew [obviously] of the MF... Perhaps he will get to witness one although he will be mainly in Arkadelphia and Little Rock

I don't think you could feel a 4.5 in Norman, OK all the way in Tulsa? I could be wrong, but if you felt it that far away there would surely be damage in Norman.

Not doubting that you felt something, just wondering if there was more than one tremor that worked its way down the line to the 4.5 in Norman.

Seems very odd that these earthquakes are lining up along an East-West corridor and JKROG posted a thread about an underground corridor being built upon since the 70's! See the last post in the thread Iinked to. Could this be underground construction work instead of EQ? The depth and location match up nicely!

Confirmed .

Thank you for the info . Sure came as a start to me , as this was the very first time I have ever experienced a quake . Talk about a WOW , as I'm seeing the walls actually move !

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Here is JKROG's old thread about the massive underground transit system.

There have been rare and unexplained quakes across Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Oklahoma forming a very good East-West line. There are also some very odd stories out of Cushing and Gravette Arkansas about the "blowing" cave that extends for possibly hundreds of miles and has had witnesses seeing "aliens" and heavy equipment deep inside the cave.

Maybe its just Earthquakes, but anyone that has ever been to Oklahoma City knows that the world doesn't get any flatter than that! There is no sign of any historic seismic activity in that area. There isn't a hill in a hundred miles!

Thanks for the link to JKROG's thread , I will definitely check that out .

Phone has been ringing pretty steady from others in my area who also felt it .

Friend of mine lives in Purcell , just south of Norman . Said their house was actually swaying . Also , said the media is reporting damage to the dormitories at Norman .

I thought it might be a little far too but according to the map and responses it was felt in MO, KS, AR, TX and even a report from LA. I'm unsure about the single report from LA but there are numerous reports from over 100 miles away.

I'll give underground tunnels as a possible explanation. Thanks for the link to the thread.

Here's a few articles about the quake. Minor damage but no injuries reported in Norman, OK.
