The stupidity of the American public never fails to amaze.

A great example of the masses clamoring for the government to solve their every little crisis is shown in Broward County Florida, where 911 operators are besieged by calls by idiots requesting help with things that are NOT life and death emergencies. Nearly half the calls they receive are for things that no one in their right mind would consider an emergency.

911 Callers Are a Joke in Broward County

It appears residents in Broward County have their definitions for "nonsense" and "emergency" mixed up.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office call center, nearly half the 911 calls they receive are for things not quite a life or death situation - unless you consider a fast food order an emergency.

"I ordered chicken nuggets and they don't have chicken nuggets," one woman called 911 to report.

The fast food offenses are usually the most common and often the most annoying because people think it's really an emergency worthy of 911, one operator said.

"Screaming in my ear, 'I wanted the sausage, and he gave me the burrito!'" April McGill recalls from one call. "She's trying to force me to eat something off the menu that I don't want!"

The penal code hasn't quite addressed customer service in the fast food industry, but that hasn't stopped Broward residents from picking up the phone and calling the police. People have asked for police escorts, rides to the liquor store and instructions on how to make meatballs.

One woman even called to ask what day it was.

NBC Miami

I wonder how those meatballs turned out.

These are the people who decide who our elected representatives in congress will be.

Is it any wonder this country is so screwed up?

They have the right to vote.

But.....

I would wager that they don't vote...voting takes a bit of coherence...such as knowing which day to vote, where the booths are, registering to vote, etc etc etc.

thats alot of time spent away from meatball creation.

I wonder if anyone has called 911 to report that their candidate didn't win even though they voted for them...

Perhaps most of them dont vote but it would appear those who complained to their congressmen their TV's were too loud and thought the President was going to buy gas for their cars may be pulling levers somewhere.

Where is this? Oh my gosh, I want to meet these people!
Yeah, but SaturnFX is right, they have the right to vote. But as crazy as these people sound, I bet they vote. Crazy people always vote since I bet they believe EVERY SINGLE issue they experience is very important.

Considering that most of their 911 calls are about fast food, I wonder what their major concerns are about the government

Whether you're a fan or not of the country, sometimes you just gotta shake your head and say, "WTF..?"

These people do not need to vote, though their right to will remain in tact...and 911 isn't the solution for these 'types' of people...what these people really need is a Stress Reduction Kit as seen below.

I hope they follow the instructions to a T...

I personally don't believe that everyone has the right to vote but then again, people do love exercising their rights no matter how silly it is.

Oh, they vote and in fact they probably voted for Obama and will do so again, though they aren't simply limited to voting for Obama, nor is this kind of thing limited to Florida. I blame the dumbing down of America and the welfare system, which often gives incintive to not progress in life.

We as a public, have been indoctrinated to believe that the government is supposed to serve our every need and want. If we need or want something, the government should provide it. It's along this line of thinking that people feel entitled to use the 9/11 "hotline" as a customer service number.

911 in my area is useless, if you have an actual emergency it is best to either call the Fire Department, Police Dept, or whoever directly. Instead of talking to an operator it would be better to call and hang-up a few times because then they will send someone to check on you.

That said my county's 911 system is flooded with stupid calls all the time. I live beach-side and dogs are not allowed on the beach, when a beach-side condominium resident sees a dog on the beach guess who they call.

Democracy ultimately fails because people are to stupid to govern themselves. Humans are children that need their hand held and told when, how and why to do and or act in a very specific way.

They sound more like people who voted for McCain.

Stupid and willing to put people like Sarah Palin in office. Perhaps they just think she's a nice lady?

So, what's the alternative?

Socialism? I didn't think so.

Fascism? I think that's what some folks are hinting at.

hmm, alot of "ha, the guy is dumb, therefore he must have voted for obama"

meanwhile they say nothing about the ones that were thinking obama is some sort of al-queda sleeper cell agent or how iraq attacked us on 9-11, how the republicans soaked the american people and caused a literal structure like nazi germany in regards to government expansion and surveillance on the people..saying that was good but a debate about a 3% tax increase on the wealthiest is socialism because beck told them so, etc...

morons are certainly not limited to any one political party.

but I suppose its fun to think all the idiots are on the opposite party of whatever you cheer for...that makes sense.

just to summerise...amusing 911 calls = time to go political trolling. yep...nice thread we got here.

Monarchy.. someone posted a thread to such a discussion, but I'd have said it anyways..

Human's are, imo, genetically altered in a such a way that we cannot exist without leadership .. we've also expressed that we are incapable of uncorrupted self governing.. every time we attempt to "self govern" it ends the same .. the system collapses and we enter a prolonged period of social stagnation.

However, I would say that a specific type of Monarchy.. and that is an Enlightened Monarchy, as Aristotle proposed.. Someone who can rule with absolute authority but do so with a conscience of the effect his or her actions have on his or her people are a whole.

Absolute Rule is the only way to govern Humans.

Wow, something we actually agree on!

We have idiots over here doing the same thing to our 000 number. Takes attention from the people who really are in need of help! The fine imposed for wrongful use doesnt actually seem to be making a difference at all either. Maybe they need tougher penalties?

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is.

I once called 911 because Micky D's wouldn't serve me a mcmuffin at 10:35am.

I once busted a drive through window because Dairy Queen said the milk shake machine was down.

I once killed a man for a klondike bar.

Drastic crimes call for drastic reactions, and if that is justice, let it be served hot, steaming, and fresh at 10:36am.
