People are still floating that fish around as an alien?

I am surprised anyone would even entertain the thought, without first considering that it may be some sort of animal from Earth. It seriously looks like it would be.

When I first saw it, I thought someone mutilated a Skate.

Skate - Wiki

But maybe most people have never seen one before.
My niece caught one last month in Virginia.

I'm saying Fish too mate.

The tail clearly has fins attached, and the similarity to the other examples of fish presented nails it for me.

There may be slight variations to the species to account for the small differences here and there from the others, but the drying process and how it was laying when found, might account for that too.

Quite how it got up in the mountains is another question.

Maybe it was swept up in a cyclone or hurricane or something and deposited there.

There are stories from all periods of fish raining from the sky after extreme weather, and frogs etc.

Ummmmmm . . . am I the ONLY person who thinks this is a bat?

I can't even think of anything else for a second line, so this is it.

You can see in the OP that there where extra bit of skin around where the neck is that have either been cut away or disintegrated to form a "neck".

Whats the point in the question anyway, it's a dried fish, it looks exactly like a dried fish, it compares more or less exactly to other examples of dried fish that are passed off as aliens / devils etc.
If I find another picture with a "neck" and "Ears" are you going to say "Well what about the left leg, it's a bit shorter"
These are made from animals and thus are all slightly different. A cat is still a cat even if one cat is fat with a short neck and the other is long and thin.

This one is slightly different again, It's still a dried fish though.

It's a Guitarfish.
A form of Skate.

The "mystery" is already solved.

It is undoubtedly a fish.

OP, your friend got had.

And it looks rubbery because its almost 30 years old and was in 110 degree weather for however many years until it was discovered??????? thats why im guessing it has that texture.

"A friend of a friend heard"... And you still think it isn't possible for a fish to end up some weird place? Could it also be that the story wasn't true, after going through at least 3 people?

well considering the article, and the evidence, and that it was found in a desert mountain..... I didnt think it would be a fish lol.

Dear davespanners

First of all in all my posts here I have never said that it was not a dried fish.

As I have never seen this before I was mealy pointing out differences that I could see from the original photos on this thread to other that have been put up as saying that it is the same as the original.

So do try standing down from that high horse.

I have seen one of those before

It's a banana peel that's dried out.

Go to www.driedbananapeels.com and you'll see one of Elvis there as well!
