Hello again ...

I wonder if I can make a tiny request ... in the new member list/database, would it be perhaps possible to be able to sort by 'status.' The only reason I ask is that I was thinking of undertaking a project for the research forum and it would be helpful if I could easily sort out who has 'scholar' status so that I may contact them to collaborate.

Perhaps it's too much to ask as folks with multiple status tags may complicate the process ... in any case, I just thought I would mention it as it might also be useful to 'writers' who may also seek to collaborate.

Cheers and thanks.

The last post on every page is like this. No member name, no stars, can barely see the reply & quote buttons.

Is this my computer being the POS it is or is this happening on ATS end? Anyone else see this?

Nothing like that here. Are you sure you haven't accidentally hit a zoom feature on the mouse, or somewhere?
It looks mighty big!

Does that happen in all pages?

It happens to me if I star a post or flag a thread and refresh the page, in fact it has happened when I haven't used the star or flag feature...really strange.

Hadn't looked to see if it was happening on all threads, but I took a little gander at a few and no, it's not every thread. Actually didn't see this at all in the few I looked at.

Is there a way to kill off that popup box, which opens as you log on telling you how many threads/posts there have been since my last visit? It's irksome and I'd like it to die. There's probably a box to tick so the pop up goes away, but I canne see one.

I had that happen in two different threads on different days. I didn't mention it because I usually get the reply that infers I must be the one suddenly screwing pages up...

I think that only happened to me two times, after starring a post and only when using Internet Explorer.

This forum brought to you by...

Forum Sponsors, what is this all about?

I noticed on the home page that one of the advertisers promoted itself as the sponsor of the following forums:

Area 51
Paranormal Studies
General Conspiracies

I know ATS is a for profit venture but, isn't this rubbing the commercialism into our faces?

How long before ATS starts feeling the heat to conform to the whims of its sponsors for editorial decisions?

The next new ATS graphic:

This thread/ post pulled because it was considered offensive by our sponsors.

Fort A I noticed that, and on some forums the entire background is this way too busy ad for war of the worlds. It is annoying and distracting and gives me a slight headache. That is going too far with the pushing of the ads, I am sorry but I come here for the message boards, and although I hate to do it, I may disable all images while I surf this site if this is what we have to endure to post here.

I have an idea.....

I find that one of the challenges on ATS is to find particular pieces of information.

I think it could be useful to have a "message board / thread" type of function wherein members can go to ask if members know where certain peices of information are.

For instance, yesterday I was looking for some information that was in a thread that was 3-4 years old. However the search didn't work because the information was wrongly labelled (which was part of my reason for looking for it). I found it eventually by other means. However, an area in which to ask for such a thing could have been useful.

Perhaps each forum could have a "sticky thread" to that effect.

Anyway.....that is my idea, for what it is worth.

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

I've ran into the same difficulty myself a couple of times.

So, I'll second this request.

On the profile page is there any chance of bringing back the 'People who picked me as a foe / friend' widget? This was a good way to encourage people to convert their "half-duplex" friends into "full-duplex" friendships.

I miss that a lot. Now and then I was surprised to find out who'd added me as a friend. It was good to see such a cross section and there was some of the best minds on ATS in that list. I'd love it to be returned!

I'd also like to be able to upload media...god only knows why that stopped. Copyright issues?

Huh I just tried it myself ( media.abovetopsecret.com... ) and even though the page renders just fine, none of the interactive dialogs are present. Personal uploads (i.e media.abovetopsecret.com... ) are still working. So it's limited to that one aspect of the CDN. Kind of a big bug if you ask me!

Yeah, I was the last guy to upload into the UFOs section of ATS Media almost a month ago. I was planning to slowly upload the sound files and documents from my hard drives so ATS would have them safely in one place.

I'd like the media and the friend's list back lol!

If you click on "Friends" in your Profile page, you will at least find "I'm a friend of", ie people who have chosen you as Friend. On the left as you scroll down.

Thanks for pointing that out. The list is back!

Btw, despite my lack of religion, some of your recent threads have been well-presented and interesting to read.
