The NY Mosque Controversy. Summed Up In One Picture.

It's of kind of self evident, perhaps a little too opinionated, but this is certainly how I am viewing this non issue.

I thought it was classic the plans by Greg Gutfeld who wants to show the Muslims "what fer" by opening a gay bar nest to their center. Keeping it classy New York! And this coming from a Fox News commentator. (see A Muslim gay bar near Ground Zero?)

I still don't know why the Republicans allow themselves to be led around by the nose by the rancor and rhetoric coming from those corporate shills at Fox. This was a non-issue from day one, yet they blew it up all out of proportion.

If only everyone else can also see it as a non-issue. There is too much being made out of what has become a debacle, but that pic certainly sums it up perfectly.
Alas, some people just love making mountains out of molehills.

While I agree wholeheartedly that this issue as a country is non-issue, I do believe it is an issue with some that lost loved ones. Whether at the hands of its own government or Islamic terrorist (you choose, cause this isn't the place to debate it), people wish to hold the site sacred.

Now. In terms of the 'gay bar' next to the muslim center. It is a failed attempt at trying to prove a point. That while those that pushed the Islamic Center were calling for tolerance, they changed their tone to a 'gay bar' opening up next to their center.

Either way, constitutionally and lawfully they are allowed to open up what they wish. More power to them. But if your center is for outreach and only those of Muslim faith attend, what outreach have you exhibited?

There's no reason to think only those of Muslim faith will go there, though. It's modeled on the 92 St Y and the the Upper West Side JCC, both of which are run by Jewish groups but have diverse memberships (the property developer for this project is a member of the JCC).

I suspect it'll be pretty popular among the many young families in the neighborhood looking for places to bring their kids for swimming lessons, for instance.

Even the mosque part will be open to non-Muslims (as is the nearby mosque that the imam involved in the project has led for decades).

Which I am all for. Similar to the YMCAs, which I believe are a good thing for communities. But understanding to the fact that they have an uphill battle.

Also, I was referring that the overall cultural of New Yokers would not attend such a center. Maybe because of fear, intolerance or whatever...it will overall be just as it is advertised, a Muslims Outreach center.....outreaching only to Muslims.

With that said. I do not care about ones faith in terms of imposition towards another. I am just as resistant in regards to the claims made by evangelical Christians that we must push our faith upon others. I believe in do as I do, not as I say type of mentality.

I can careless if mosque is built or not. But because more than 70 percent of Americans don't want it there, Then build that mosque somewhere else

its the financial district, they need their drugs and sex there.. you think these wall street guys have it easy? its stressful. But they don't need a mosque.

It is an issue with some of them. Many people who suffered a loss on 9/11 are still sensitive to this issue. And not to be cold or heartless, but it is THEIR issue that they need to deal with. What I don't understand why it is expected that we be more sensitive to the 9/11 victims than to any other victims who have lost family members in a million ways.

My neighbor's son drowned in a nearby lake. She won't visit the lake and encourages people not to go there for recreation. Should we all respect her pain and not go?

This mosque subject is a TOTALLY manufactured issue by the MSM and a certain faction of the political right who wish to deny Constitutional rights to certain citizens of our country. They have MADE an issue where there was none and so many people of this country are falling for it.

People come on here and complain how the MSM is dividing the country and then pick up this mosque story like it's some sort of badge of honor, which is exactly what Beck and Palin want them to do. THEY ARE USING THE VICTIMS OF 9/11 FOR THEIR POLITICAL PURPOSES.

Please, people... Open your eyes. You are being used. Look at the Constitution and behave accordingly. It's really quite simple.
