THE AMERICAN BLACK TRIANGLE First published in UFO Magazine An explanation for the UFO known as the "Black Triangle" may have been found. From 1982 to 1985 researchers from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and NASA revived the notion of the Trans-Atmospheric Vehicle (TAV). This project became known as Copper Canyon. The objective was to find a replacement for the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird which was retired from service in 1989. This was also around the time of the first "triangle" sightings. From the numerous eye-witness reports of the triangle it became obvious that the vehicle is hypersonic rather than supersonic, as was the SR-71. The SR-71 was very capable of a Mach 3.5+ performance, and given the many advances in American military technology since the SR-71 was designed, it isn't unreasonable to assume that an aircraft capable of a Mach 5+ performance has been developed. However, the SR-71 was returned to service in 1996. It's replacement may have been the Advanced Stealth Technology Reconnaissance Aircraft (ASTRA), which has often been referred to, mistakenly, as Aurora. On March 4th, 1997, the BBC in the United Kingdom ran a news item showing film footage which had been secret for nearly 20 years. The film showed a Hercules aircraft fitted with rocket boosters to the front, rear and undercarriage. The plane was able to take off almost vertically and be airborne in under five seconds. The project's aim was to enable the aircraft to land on ground the size of a soccer pitch, pick up hostages in Iran and take off in less than a hundred yards. The project was started in the late June of 1980, abandoned in October of that year and cost $30 million. The reason for halting the project was, apparently, that on the first test flight the plane crashed on landing. The BBC didn't actually tell the whole truth in their report of the incident. There was in fact three aircraft involved and it is strongly rumored that the project was a success. Incidentally, the hostages were released three months later. The C-130 Hercules is the heaviest carrier in service in the Royal Air Force (RAF). If the project was successful and the technology applied to smaller fighter planes, the speed in which they could be airborne could rival the Harrier jump-jet. Assuming the ASTRA has been in active service since 1989, what has DARPA and/or NASA been developing and test-flying since then? This brings in the concept of Aurora. It has been suggested that Aurora's configuration resembles that of a pure delta ranging from 100-200 feet. If the Aurora has an advanced version of the Hercules rocket system giving it jump-jet capabilities and stealth technology it would be a formidable aircraft, a giant "triangle" that would be able to hover and depart at great speed. It is also suggested that the aircraft has an advanced form of vectored thrust and that the powerplant is a Pulse Detonation Wave Engine. From the numerous worldwide reports it seems that the "Black Triangle" is a very real and advanced craft. To develop such a craft an advanced level of technology and a lot of money is required. The only country which could meet these standards is America, with Britain possibly as well. A substantial amount of evidence has been collected on the "triangle" mystery and a strong connection with America has been identified. For example, examine the following report: A group of six soldiers on maneuvers on Salisbury Plain encountered the "triangle" at approximately 2a.m. one morning. This event occured in the winter of 1989, again around the time of the first "triangle" sightings. According to one of the witnesses they came across a copse in a wood where they saw bright lights. Looking up the men saw a large black craft which suddenly beamed a powerful light into the copse. The size of the craft was estimated to be as big as a C-130 Hercules or bigger. The enormous craft hung motionless without sound then suddenly departed at an incredible speed, still silent. Later during hypnotic regression, one of the soldiers recounted an amazing story. He told how a beam of light had encircled the man paralysing him. At this time a man wearing a black zip-up flying suit appeared from the woods and spoke to them in an American accent. In the moments that follow we are told how the beam moves the man, making them shuffle along the edge of the woods. The witness then looks up and sees a black triangular craft, sort of wedge-shaped, with the beam of light coming from it's center. He then goes on to describe how the light pulsates with a humming noise. The soldier then recalls how they found themselves 600 meters from where they should have been. Other details were disclosed in this account that lend weight to the conclusion of American involvement, such as the insignia worn by the American on the left chest area. In light of this information - the Pulse Detonation Wave Engine, the advanced form of the Hercules rocket system and the witnesses' testimony - we can make the connection between the Triangle and America.

this could be the aurora because reports say it was the size of a football field.

it cannot be the size of a football it would be 300 feet the aurora is said to 110 feet. and We ran an IR scan on that pic and the radiation was normal so it does not use PDWE's scramjets pulsejets or ramjets.

you dont know beyond a doubt how big the aurora is.

know but you can make a good estimate because if gibson saw the aurora it is about 110 feet because that was the estiamated length he gave. and a 300 ft long spyplane i doubt that 300 ft bomber yes and the black triangle was probably an AVRO vulcan

This is what flew over the Pahrump Valley in mid 90's.

img76.photobucket.com...

An artist did the drawing according to Art and Ramona Bell's description. It did not make a sound and moved slowly. Art said, "He could have hit it with a rock." The local newspaper said, "It was a C-130." Art just laughed at that explanation. As any military person knows a C-130 is NOT silent. The military did have a C-130 flying around the valley at that time. In my opinion they were trying to cover-up the triangle stories. We seen the C-130 flying low and circling in the area and it was really loud. I'm not sure if Art gave an estimate on the triangles size. All I know is that it was big. It seems every time an unusual object is spotted out here....the military does something to try and cover it up. Before this incident we were living down in the valley we seen (what we thought was a *huge* oval shaped object heading towards our house). It was pitch black outside and this thing was coming straight towards us. Bright red lights surrounded the object making it appear to be a Really Big UFO!! Needless to say it was quite frightening. Than we heard a loud wooshing sounds......It was 6 military huey helicopters flying in that circular formation! Now why were they doing that out here in the middle of the desert?
My guess...is practicing military cover-ups to debunk any UFO reports or to cover-up black-opps projects.

I saw this object over Poland.Mayby it sounds strange but I have no doubt. Not this first one but that one from art picture. It was august 1993 or 1992 about 10 pm.I heard in TV that we would be able to see meteor rain that night so I went to my garden to see that event. My house is not in the central warsaw but in suburbs so there wasn't any city lights and sky looked just perfect. There weren't any clouds also, the sky was just clear.

Suddenly I saw black object,it was a triangle. It flew very slowly from east.

I was sure that it was just illusion. But many years after I saw the same pictures and these photos.I dnon't know what it was but I know that these planes were flying above all Europe.

After that I dind't hear about any similiar accidents in Poland.Maybe I'm the only one

Checking the forums for Aurora today.

Yeah the contrails are crispy fried molecules as seen with low level
sightings of ufos.

Aurora is thought to have dual propulsion systems and can hover like those
alien love'n ufos.

From Lyne's "Pentagon" book after an Aurora crash he saw a CIA truck in
Santa Fe that went to a salvage yard. 12 power vacs in a rotary switch
blackened from the burning was still intact. 4 Amp 15.5 KV switches cool.
Thats some jolt those aliens get.

This is some government project because nothing ever left the pants not even
failed parts. In fact failed parts were locked up for investigation.

Lyne did not say he purchased any more of his telltale parts, which I would
purchase on ebay right away, but said he was banished from the salvage yard by the men in black as it were.

Oh, black triangle slow moving craft have been sited by a town near
Blackpool, UK.

The discription of the large black triangle sounds and awful lot like the TR-3 Black Manta! The TR-3 is most likly an ELINT and SIGINT platform base on what I can gather. It would fly a mission similar to the RC-135 series of spy planes. Code Names of aircraft have nothing to do with the real name of the plane. Here are a few examples:

U-2 Spy Plane = Angle
A-12 Blackbird = Oxcart
RC-135 V= Rivet Joint
SR-71 Blackbird= Senior Crown

Now, we've never found the true designation for Aurora. Has anyone every thought that maybe the Aroura Project and the TR-3 Black Manta are the same project? could we be chasing the same thing from two directions?

Most likely the TR3A or TR3B. By the way Westpoint Stellar responded to your posts in case you wanted to know(Russian bombers flew undetected over the US).

Ok, is there any credible evidence that links these pictures to ANY designation such as TR-3?

TR3, if that designation exists, would be a TACTICAL reconaissance system. SIGNIT aircraft operate by LOITERING which means slow long endurance platforms - like the TR-2, Global Hawk etc.

I'll admit I don't have a link for the designation. You got me on that. That is a fair point.

Maybe, maybe not! Was the TR-1 really TACTICAL reconnaissance? If you read up on military designations, TR isn't really a correct designation anyway, unless it is a Reconnassance Trainer. The letter right before the dash is the primary mission, any letter before that denotes a modified or additional mission. For Example:

F/A-18 Hornet - This is a dule mission of Fighter and Attack
AC-130 - A Cargo plane (C-130) modified for Attack
RF-4 Phantom- A fighter modified for Reconnance

By the way, the Gobal Hawk is the RQ-4A (R=Reconnassance, Q=Unmanned Platform) SEE HERE: Global Hawk

I Think you might be wise to hold off on your judgment until we know more! B.T.W, how did you get on the Global Hawk as a TR-2? I've never heard that one before!

a trainer converted for reconnaissance would most likely bear the designation 'RT-3' (witness RF-4 and RC-135 as examples of this) rather than TR-3, TR would denote tactical recce in my view just as SR denotes strategic recce.

Also, I'm not familiar with any TR-2 but planeman put a comma between that and Global Hawk, suggesting to me two different aircraft.

I do believe I have3 read that the TR-1 was used for battlefield surveillance and intelligence gathering (among other things) so the 'tactical' designation would be correct in that instance.

All this talk of "TR-3" is complete speculation. In an era where unmanned systems are predominant in tactical reconaissance why would there be a TR-3? My reserved judgement is that TR-3 is a figment of people's imagination until it is proven otherwise. As it is I have seen NO credible evidence to substantiate its existance and no compelling explanation as to why the TR-3 designation even exists as a system -any system.

The "TR" designation is unconventional but it does mean Tactical Recce no two ways about that.

PS. Of course the Global Hawk isn't the TR-2. I think I recall the TR2 label being proffered as a designation for the Gnat/Predator family but I don't know how official that was.

TR-3 sounds a bit like Tier-3 which was the designation for the now defunct Dark Star UAV. I am sure that is where it comes from

who is to say there is just 1 Aurora, or even one type of Aurora.

Maybe the tech within it will be used in both the next gen recon, fighter and bomber?(all different aircraft of course)

The B3 in this pic is 143 ft long, I know its not 110, but its not too far off?

www.globalsecurity.org...

Will this aircraft be unmanned? Would't make sense to have this plane unmanned?

Black Triangles have been reported since early 80'. Don't forget Night Siege by A.Hynek and Ph. Imbrognio. Don't forget the masive sightings in mid 80' in the East Coast, mainly New York and Connecticut area. And the size was reported that of a football field, sometimes even bigger.

yea, I know it's been around for close to thirty years, to me, that is all the more proof that there are probably a few different varients of it by now.

Do you guys believe that the Aurora will replace the SR-71 Blackbird in the next few decades?

What about the B2 bomber with the B3?

It has replaced the SR-71/A-12 since around 1990, Not Sure?

This 'Aurora' deffo exists if there are loads of people who claim to see a flying black triangle

I was discussing about RAF Macrihanish with someone who claims to have been posted there, He claims he seen a plane that looks identical to this

Just found dis, The Soviet Robert Bartini A57 Plane Carrier. Is this another Black Project?
