What do you know about Save the Children? I am contributing to that charity so I am sorry I cannot contribute to yours.

I am i the only person who finds this thread incredibly patronising, it comes very close to saying “this is how you should live your life”. It assumes that I don’t ask my elderly neighbour if she need anything for the shops, it assumes I have a unhealthily lifestyle, it assumes I would want use homeopathy over the over the counter drugs that my doctor prescribes to me that I know work and it also assumes I don’t use the words “I love you” enough. Strongly it also assumes that I am going to change my life to benefit the collective by thanking me for this in advance. I don’t see any need for me to change my life based on your conspiracy theory about fluoride in the water.

Why would i bother donating food to my supermarket, am i missing something because it seems to me like they have lots of them. I really got annoyed when you started about when a parent should tell a child that they love that child, was starting to sound like you were telling people how to raise their children.

It’s a bit like you want everybody to be all nice and lovey dovey with each other, live doesn’t work like that. Really nice idea, unfortunately it doesn’t work in practice it’s a very naive idea that this is possible.

Sorry i hate this thread, and i am not going to change my life in any way as a result of it.

How about if you just think "Gee, do I have anything worthwhile to contribute to this thread?" before posting next time? It's not much, but it'd be a start.

Oh, and the main reason why the "lovey dovey" stuff doesn't work is because of folks like you. Your post was like a big steaming loaf dropped right in the punch bowl. Nice job.

Yeah because what you had to say was a really worth while contribution to this thread eh? Well no it wasn’t because it had nothing to do with the thread and everything to do with my post. If I post something that disagrees with the OP, it’s still worthwhile; I am providing balance it makes people think shows the opposite side of the coin. I hate this thread and find it patronising and i have set out why I feel that way, it’s nothing personal just my opinion on the thread.

Yes the reason the “lovey dovey” stuff doesn’t work is because of folks like me.... and you..... and the OP..... and just about everybody on the face of the earth. We are imperfect beings, we are going to hurt each other, and the liberal ideal that man is inherently good is utter crap. That is why the lovey dovey stuff doesn’t work, it’s not people like me its everybody so please don’t single me out.

By the way, a Socialist friend of mine once told me what the difference between a Leftist and a Liberal is.

A Liberal spends their time rescuing babies as they float by in the river.

A Leftist takes the time to go upriver and kill the creep who's throwing babies in.

I like how a Leftist thinks.

I say that if we want to make things better, we need to scare the hell out of the nasty people who work to make this worse. If we each focused on one international corporate giant - preferably one that is a global predator, and there are several that everyone knows about - and simply shut down the market for all of their products and subsidiaries, for one year, then that company would crash completely.

Then we could put out the word that things have changed and that we'll list the demands - secure employment, decent wages, safe food and products, no more buying our leaders, no more slave labor markets - and then to make sure the corporates "get it", we'll take down another global leader as they watch helplessly.

After that, things should start brightening up a little everywhere.

Eating vitamins is good and all, but there are too many other ways to suffer in this world. Lately, it's at the hands of corporate predators. It's time we started realizing who the enemies actually are.

I sincerely hope that wasn’t aimed at me because my bowl functions are none of your business. I love how this how the people defending this thread are doing it from an arguably form the liberal perspective but they are attempting to limit the freedom of speech of the people they don’t agree with by telling them to go away.

Dear catwhoknows

Sorry I know nothing about save the children or any other than the one I have mentioned.

What I do know is that many of these big charities by necessity have a big well paid staff. They have too they just could not operate without that sort of system.

Therefore most of your cash goes first to their administration. This will include nice trips to over seas countries to check out people like us and to make sure we are doing the job right.

I can not blame people who know this for not giving but I can blame them for using it as an excuse not to help at all.

On the other hand you have people like Father Giovanni who risked jail to smuggle ARV’s through customs to save the lives of the children here before any where available in this country.

We have an expenditure of about $60,000USD per month and all the admin staff we have are two ladies, who’s wages are about $600 for the two of them.

You want to help but you do not want your cash squandered on Addmin then this is the sort of place you need to be looking at.

I accidentally reversed and struck a car in a parking lot a few days ago. Quite a few people saw me do it. They probably thought the paper I was scribbling in had my details in it. Well, I did not.

So I saw this thread and it guilt-trip me so hard that I went to Wendy's and donated like 5 bucks in one of those things they put on the counter for donations to children so that I could feel better.

lol, well if you see that car with the dint and/or scratches in it ever again, you should probably leave your details on it. (Unless it was luxury or an unnecessary SUV or one with a Sarah Palin bumper sticker, thats my motto)

This is the only one I can object to. Scientific evidence weighs heavily against homeopathic medicines. At the most, homeopathy is a placebo treatment.

Instead I would suggest you buy generic medicines, since they're the exact same thing as the name brands.
