I would also advise you read the ED page, but if you really want to understand what Anon is, the easiest explanation is this: First off, it is not a
group, there are no members, if somebody calls for an operation or project or raid to take place, people will work together on it, but after that its
just a mess, i suggest you try and read 1 page of /b/. Anon is not organized in any way whatsoever, its a way for somebody to get something done by
having others help, wether that thing be good or bad. Anon is like both the asshole and angel of the internet. They strongly fight corruption, but
they usually only do something like that "for teh lulz", basically when they are fighting evil people, etc... they (mostly) are only doing it to see
the reaction of said people. Some exceptions are project chanology, which was the scientology attack, which started for teh lulz but ended in real
life protests, another example is their getting arrested a man who possessed child pornography, and a kid who posted videos on youtube abusing his
cat. But then in another spectrum they are assholes, they raid sites which have done nothing for the same lulz, they feed on teh lulz.
Heres a nice quote summing it up:
"Chances are that if you're reading this, you have at least a passing familiarity with Anonymous. For those who don't, it's a sort of internet
meme/subculture type of thing, strongly associated with 4chan, that commits acts both online and and in the real world, sometimes good, sometimes bad
and always "for the lulz." I don't really get it myself, to be quite honest, but I do know enough to stay out of its way. "
