Just curious how you propose to make this system you speak of work more effectively than the current one.

Wow, you people ripping into ressie. How reactionary can you be? Step back off the emotional precipice and chill out. He has an opinion. He is disappointed in the numbingly mindless blob of sheep that the US has become. Nothing wrong with that.
Sure the middle east has horrible things occur every day. Their close-minded religiously based abuse of freedoms disgust me too. So maybe he likes the middle east for different reasons.

But I feel what he is saying. I am extremely disappointed in the apathetic nature of my fellow Australians. "She'll be right" is their opinion of almost every problem, no dialogue needed. We're kind of half way between America's ideals of freedom and capitalism, and Europe's love of political correctness and socialism. Being a social democratic country provides good balance, it stops people from dying because they can't afford to go to hospital. Still, everyday our PC rating crawls towards Europe's and it ticks me off to no end.

That's an opinion, I hate the apathy and PC within my country. Let ressie have his.

If we only new sounds nice though uhhhhh.

The only way this system would work is if our country was destroyed and we had to start over.

It would last a 100 years then it would be just as bad as it is getting now maybe even worse.

Maybe they should just excute anyone trying to become a politician that would solve the problem in about 50 years from now no more politicians.

Hey, c'mon guys, give Reece a break. You think he feels good about saying what he said? Freedom of speech-- let that American express himself and know that he isn't choosing to feel that way. He's bombarded with a conscience and doubt about where we are right now as a nation. Please don't make him feel worse. He's clearly p-o'd at TPTB for all the wrongs inflicted on us and on other innocent folks in other countries, and the message all of it sends to the whole world about 'who we are' and what we're about. (That's what he meant by no pride in 'being American.') You've got to admit, there is a lot to be ashamed of, even though your fun-loving neighbor and you and me didn't directly do it. But when they say "The US has sent a fleet of warships thru the Suez Canal..." do you feel proud of that? The US, The Americans-- that's us they are talking about. We pledge our allegiance, hence we are 'part & parcel' to it. We even work and pay taxes to fund it. Most everybody on this site is constantly griping about decisions the government makes, but we don't tell each other to move to a country where you love the government better. I believe he's voicing the same thing. Just step back and let's not take it personally. We all feel basically powerless to effect change on all of the wrong-doing. Democratic vote? Meh... do we really get to even decide who the puppets are? I really understand where he's coming from. I love what America should/could be and used to be. I feel disillusioned myself, and find myself wanting to voice to people that I don't agree with where we're at in America in foreign relations, domestic stuff, environment, blah blah blah...

Reece, I for one want you to stay and make America a better place. If you were to go, there would be less people who care.

I'm sorry if I sound all 'holier than thou.' I really just felt for him b/c the topic is, after all, "Sad Days in America" and deep down I do believe he is sad. Please do not take offense. I am just one other who also cares.

"I hate the apathy and PC within my country"

Gehirn, I'm an Australian too and honestly there is no political correctness in my neck of the woods. I wish there was!
However, I agree that we all feel a bit disillusioned and dissappointed in our homelands sometimes and it's a little unfair to come down hard on someone else who feels the same.

I can appreciate the frustration and disappointment anyone has with our country right now. But those negative feelings should be directed at our leaders, not our private citizens. We live in a country that to a large degree has its quality of life reflected by its leadership. And face it, we have no leadership. It wouldn't surprise me if they all have a secret black budget that gets split up at the end of each President's term. In the next election, we need to somehow get a legitimate President elected!!!!!!!!!!!! I can appreciate the frustration and disappointment anyone has with our country right now. but you have a parasite or rather a colony of blood sucking
low down limp deeke, socio/psychopathetic @$$ hat, ice wholes

but we, collectively
have to purge.

So, don't lose hope, quiting would be the biggest favour
anyone could ever do for them.

Sorry bud, but all countries have those same types of people in them. It's just the way life is and to get rid of them from one country would mean to get rid of them from all countries.

Every country in the world has bad apples in it just like the USA does. The USA just takes all of the flack for it.

In greece for a while they had ppl chosen by lottery, and often got
good ppl in office.

Usually if someone is willing to spend a vast fortune to gain a position
of power you do not want them in control of anything.

I think we could do internet/phone voting on most issues.

I think it would need real IT security, not the poor excuse we have
for IT security at this time.

As many have said thou, the current system is so corrupt that
it is likely beyond saving.

As history as shown what comes after this point is really bad,
so I offer to those who can read history books to get ready
to bug out to a safe location or get ready for civil war 2.

Good Luck to all the good ppl !

I hate admitting that, and I know its not a widley accepted opinion, but it is mine and its going to stay that way. To those who stuck up for me, thank you. Im not trying to piss anyone off or anything, and I have a few friends who are from afghanistan and they told me stories that convinced me it could be better there for someone like me, only if it wasnt so hot. But in all seriousness i enjoy the small freedoms I have. If anything Im going to move to europe. Should be nice.
Also, Im fed up with the misinformed and immature nature of americans, and anyone alike. Im pissed off at the government, and the secret agencies working behind the scenes. Im pissed off that more people worry about chelsea clinton and lindsay lohan than the thousands of innocent children who die every day from preventable starvation. Sure maybe im hung up on the negative side of things but it sure does outweigh the positive. And im sure Im not the only one who feels this way.

Did you notice it says CANADA on my AV
I'm a mixed breed of cat

which is why I said "...not just you but we...."

Anyone who reads me knows I single out the zionist fascist bankers who installed Mao, Hitler, Stalin, pol pot, the shaw, saddam, the electronic voting machines, and the FED at least once a day....

You know, all the things the US founding fathers warned the world against.

Agreed, the flag was made in China but really if this whole mess is was created by BP shouldnt it be the Brittish flag lying soiled in the muck of the Gulf Coast toxic and tainted waters?

Also the picture should have been taken from upside down to mean 'distress', at least if it was taken by a well meaning American.
