You mean all those hairy fishermen wanted to be kissed on the mouth too?

And apparently 'mouth' may not even have been the actual body part involved, but a polite euphemism.

I believe the Gospel of Philip dates from between 150CE and 300CE, so it's not exactly what you'd call an eyewitness account. But then, you know that...

Notice how quick the Vatican is to keep control of the dissemination of such material to the masses--------such as the 50 year delay in releasing some of the Dead Sea Scroll material

Never mind the masses, access even for scholars is quite restricted--something that has given rise to fierce academic battles in the past fifty years.

As for all those Dead Sea Scroll documents that "went missing" (!) after the Vatican came to take a look at them, there is an interesting story about one scroll in Particular: THE DANIEL SCROLL. Here's how the story is generally told:

There was a CIA employee back in 1947-1948 who apparently was living in Damascus...

How very odd. I just told this story on a different thread, a minute before I read your post. Coincidence? Synchronicity? An evil Vatican plot? Sting exercising mind control on us?

I think we should be told.

Ref: IS THE VATICAN STILL HIDING SOME DEAD SEA SCROLLS FROM THE PUBLIC?

It has been rumoured for decades that the VATICAN has been hiding many incriminating documents and artifacts from Antiquity (additional 1st and early 2nd century gospels for example which sometimes use not-sopreverent words that portray a "Jesus" not quite in line with what they want to believe about him, i.e. more human

(i.e. "The Saviour used to love Miryam [of Magdala] more than other women, for he used to kiss her often on the [mouth]...and the disciples said to one another, Does the Saviour love her more than us?" ----from: The Coptic Gospel of Phillip, discovered at Nag Hammadi in Egypt in 1945).

There are probably a thousand different ways of preventing the Truth from being made public:

Kill those who tell the Truth; censor and suppress the Truth by not allowing that Truth to be published in any journal of religion or theology or general circulation secular or religious newspaper or magazine; concoct a completely alternative 'explanation' of the Truth; and, in this particular instance, distract people from the Truth that is already out there.

The fundamental purpose of the Dead Sea Scrolls 'scandal'--and these suggestions that additional scrolls are being kept from the public, etc.etc.--serves one principal function:

It distracts people from the fact that the Thanksgiving Hymns (1QH) of the Dead Sea Scrolls--one of the first of the Scrolls discovered--was written by Jesus. And, if that one fact were widely understood--if it were universally publicized that, in order to read the words of Jesus himself, all you have to do is read the Thanksgiving Hymns--it would be a significant threat to Christian theology. (Who, for example, would want to read a book on theology, when given the choice of reading the words of Jesus himself?)

The primary 'problem' with the Thanksgiving Hymns, of course, is that there are two points which are made by the author which are not even understood by either the Jewish or the Christian religious 'authorities':

"Of the Vision of Knowledge they [the Jewish religious 'authorities'] say 'It is unsure'. And, of the Way of Thy heart, 'It is not the way'."

The Vision of Knowledge is the Vision of the "Son of man" (also referred to in the Quran as the "Night Journey" of Mohammed); whereas the "Way of Thy heart" is a code-word reference from the Book of Isaiah to the Revelation of the "resurrection", which includes the Revelation of the Memory of Creation and the revelation of the memories of previous lives.

And, of course, if it were widely understood that Jesus taught the Doctrine of 'Rebirth' , rather than the pagan-Egyptian-Pharisaical doctrine of the physical raising of a dead body from the grave, as did Paul...

Well, the fox would then be amongst the chickens.

Michael
