Taliban: Actively funded, trained and
supported by Pakistan's ISI

"The behind-the-scenes frustrations of soldiers on the ground and glimpses of what appear to be Pakistani skullduggery contrast sharply with the frequently rosy public pronouncements by American officials of Islamabad as an ally in the war against terror.”

As you know, thousands of classified US documents implicating Pakistan in its support for terrorism exploded in the public domain, sending officials in both countries scurrying for cover to defend a ‘dubious alliance and straining a phony partnership based on a misreading of the ground sentiment and situation.’

In effect, the chronicles suggested that Washington was blindly paying Pakistan massive amounts of money for access to Afghanistan even as Islamabad uses its spy agency, ISI, to plot the death of American and NATO troops, allied Indian personnel, and undermines US policy. The most devastating leaks showed that Pakistan allows representatives of its spy service, ISI, to meet directly with the Taliban in secret strategy sessions to organize attacks against American soldiers in Afghanistan, and even hatch plots to assassinate Afghan leaders, including President Hamid Karzai.

So one would ask, what’s new? The US of A has been known to mollycoddle Pakistan and its notorious spy agency the ISI since decades. And with military and other aid amounting to a whopping $17 billion dollars of tax payers money in the last five years to Pakistan, it seems the American policy makers prefer to keep those blinkers on for fear of ‘hurting’ the sentiments of a ‘trusted ally’ which is Pakistan (The fountainhead of terror) in the so called war against terror. Oh yes, they’re providing logistics support and tacit approval for those drone attacks, you see? Where would the US of A, NATO and ISAF be without the Pakistanis? Never mind if they’ve helped the Taliban (Haqqani) to kill more than 2000 ISAF troops in Afghanistan!

In other words, the US is paying Pakistan to kill American troops!

Salem-news

Now what’s all the fuss about? Why is Pakistan going all out to support terrorist organizations like the Taliban in Afghanistan? What’s their game plan? The Pakistanis contend that they are fighting the terrorists in Swat and the badlands in the North West and so is a victim of terrorism themselves. This is balderdash! So what’s the truth?

The Pakistan army is fighting the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan who are anti Pakistan and NOT the Afghan Taliban (Haqqani) to whom they’re providing logistics, military support and training for fighting the ISAF in Afghanistan.
Why? Here’s the Pakistani gameplan:

The Doctrine of Strategic Depth

'Strategic Depth', is a hare brained concept propounded by a Pakistani General, Mirza Aslam Beg, and included as a grand strategy of the Pakistan Army which needs to be achieved whatever the cost. So what is this so called ‘Strategic Depth’? For starters, it is vital to install a pliable government in Afghanistan without which it would be virtually impossible to achieve this. And therefore the imperative for winning the Afghan war at all costs, paving the way for the installation of a pliant government controlled by the Taliban at the helm.

Strategic Depth focuses on:

1. Establishment of a corridor within Afghanistan wherein Pakistani troops can concentrate in the event of a war with India to regain a ‘balanced disposition’ in case of an adverse situation in the event of war and mount a riposte at an appropriate time of their choosing.

2. Move their strategic assets into Afghanistan including long range missiles thereby putting them out of India’s reach. This would ensure a viable second strike capability.

3. Strategic depth is an offensive tactic to “bleed India with a thousand cuts in Kashmir.” (Zia). Afghan opium poppies and mujahideen, the two swords of ISI machinery, would be the servicing fuel and ammunition for overthrowing “the tyranny against our Kashmiri brethren” (Aslam Beg).

4. Strategic Depth is also a conduit through which mercenaries and “guest militants” from various Arab nationalities could be recruited for the jihadi terror in Kashmir and based in ‘friendly’ Afghanistan where they would be trained to carry out the ‘fight to the finish’ in Kashmir. Strategic Depth is thus the lynchpin of Pakistan’s offensive infiltrationist game plan in Kashmir.

4. Secure the vital trade and supply routes to energy rich CIS countries through Afghanistan without let or hindrance.

It is to achieve this mirage that the Pakistan Army assisted by its adjunct the ISI (Inter Services Intelligence), is supping with the Taliban (Haqqani) by providing the wherewithal required to fight the ISAF in Afghanistan without which it would have been well neigh impossible to have stretched this war for almost a decade by a band of brigands!

Now do you see what this war in Afghanistan is all about? Pakistan has its own agenda and it's not about the war on terror!

And then remember, the US of A (CIA) had turned a Nelson’s eye to Pakistan’s covert nuclear weapons-for-missile-technology trade-off with North Korea and AQ Khan’s shocking international trade in nuclear weapons technology in connivance with the Pakistani establishment. North Korea, Libya, Iran. You name it. But what did the US of A do to stop this blatant proliferation? Zilch!

So, what is America up to? They know full well that Pakistan is running with the hare and hunting with the hounds but yet doling out billions of dollars in tax payers hard earned money to support an errant state since decades.

In a nutshell, The American government is squarely responsible for the deaths of more than 2000 soldiers by refusing to bring the proponents of this war, Pakistan, to heel.

As I write this, more American casualties are being brought in from Afghanistan draped in Stars and Stripes, thanks to American policy makers who refuse to act against the sponsors of terror – Pakistan.

after reading this
it makes you wonder why all of our soldiers
don't just leave their posts and come home
by any means available.

This also might be a good reason
why so many soldiers have committed
suicide.

Could you live with urself knowing that ur
president and generals were using you
as a bargaining chip???

This is rather disturbing.

Yeah they keep leading the sheep to the slaughter, in uniform no less.

These soldiers should go home, all they are doing is protecting elitist fortunes at the expense of Americans and their families.

Not to be rude, but this is old news to anyone who followed the REAL news for a while.

Yes this is sick. And yes they don't care. And yes they should all be tried for treason, because this is treason.

This is PAYING PEOPLE TO KILL AMERICANS. THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF TERRORISM.

And what the Bush and Obama administration do? GIVE MORE MONEY TO PAKISTAN.

They should be shot on sight.

Issuing a stern warning to ISI, a top American military official has asked the Pakistani spy agency to "strategically shift its focus", as any ties with the terrorist outfits that has come to light in the wake of the WikiLeaks episode is unacceptable.

"There have been elements of the ISI that have got relationships with extremist organisations, and we consider that unacceptable," Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, told reporters at a Pentagon news conference along with defense secretary Robert Gates.

Well? Unacceptable? Is the US of A going to do anything about it? Simple answer – NO! And why is that? Because they’ve got their eyes firmly shut. They don’t want to ruffle Pakistani feathers do they?

Responding to the same question, Gates said over the past 18 months the Pakistani government has become increasingly aggressive in taking on terrorists in the northwestern part of their country.

"They have 140,000 troops in that area. If you had asked me would they be aggressively pursuing the Taliban in South Waziristan a year or two ago, I would have thought that impossible," he observed.

"So I think what we have seen, and one of the reasons why these documents are dated is that in the last 18 months or so there has been a dramatic change, in my view, in Pakistan's willingness to take on insurgents and terrorists, their willingness to put their own military at risk and take casualties in going after this," Gates said.

Bull crap! Who’s Gates trying to fool? Is the US of A and Gates in particular unaware of the fact that the Pakistan army is NOT fighting the Afghan Taliban? They are fighting the Pakistani Taliban (TeT Pakistan) only as this group threatens their sovereignty and national interests. They are supporting the Afghan Taliban with massive amounts of weaponry, training, logistics and financial support. And where is all the money coming from to do all this? You, the American tax payer! And the drug money siphoned through Pakistan’s ISI. The CIA wants some of this lucrative pie too considering they need the funds to support various insurgencies and ‘color revolutions’ around the world and also for the myriad black projects under the CIA.

But if they put their screws on the Pakistan Army and ISI, they’re afraid this cooperation in the drug trade may dry up with dreadful consequences! A catch 22 situation for the CIA and American policy makers!

The Frontier Corps battling the militants is outgunned and poorly trained, officials say. Funding instead goes to equipment more suited for conventional warfare with India.

But rather than use the more than $7 billion in U.S. military aid to bolster its counter-terrorism capabilities, Pakistan has spent the bulk of it on heavy arms, aircraft and equipment that U.S. officials say are far more suited for conventional warfare with India, its regional rival.
The Los Angeles Times

And the massive amount of sophisticated weapons that the US of A is gifting the Pakistanis – which have nothing to do with fighting terrorists in Afghanistan – worth billions of dollars is being diverted to their Eastern borders against India! This has been admitted by none other than Gen Musharraf himself! That’s true as the weapons have to be integrated with army units and hence once their tenure in the West is over, they move to the Eastern border with India, carrying these weapons with them. These are NOT kept as ‘Sector Stores’.

So there we are. How much of the billions doled out by America is being used in the war against terror by Pakistan? None! Most of it is going toward arming the Afghan Taliban fighting the ISAF and American Forces in Afghanistan, procuring sophisticated weapons to be used against India and the remainder is unaccounted funds lining the pockets of Army generals, politicians and corrupt bureaucrats!

Weapons Provided To Pak Army By the U.S

> Sophisticated laser-guided-bomb kits.
>12 American-made surveillance drones.
>18 late-model F-16 fighters.
> Fast attack missile boats.
> Equipment capable of converting 1,000 traditional munitions into "smart bombs".
> Utility and attack helicopters (latest block Cobras).
> P3C Orion maritime surveillance aircraft.
> Frigates.

And Pakistan has assured the US administration that American military hardware provided to it will be used solely for defensive purposes! Defensive purposes? Defence against who? The Al Qaeda? Pakistani Taliban? Oh yes, Pakistan needs all the above mentioned hardware to fight a pack of brigands!!

God bless American policy makers! With blinkers on. Living in a world of denial! A classic case of the tail (Pakistan) wagging the dog (Us of A). Carry on…..3000 soldiers killed and counting!

Here's another gem from none other than the vice prez of the US of A, Joe Biden..

US Vice-President Joe Biden said in an interview aired on Thursday that Pakistan’s intelligence agency was “changing” its behavior towards Afghanistan.

Mr Biden downplayed leaked documents which suggested that between 2004 and 2009, elements of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), armed, trained and financed the Taliban despite Islamabad’s anti-terror alliance with Washington.

More crap! Can a leopard change its spots? The Pakistani establishment (Read Pak Army/ISI) will continue doing what they're doing. After all, the ISI was raised and established for this very purpose during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The other wing ('S' Wing) is for exporting terror to India notably Kashmir. To 'bleed India with a thousand cuts' (Zia). After all, the Pakistani Army is still smarting at their defeat in the 1971 war with India where 93000 Pakistani troops were taken prisoner after they surrendered to Indian Forces in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and lodged in Indian POW camps.

A bloody disgrace to the Pakistani Army! Never mind that they could have held out for at least a year. But probably the Indian juggernaut was too much for them. So what better way now than to fight a proxy war with India using terror as a cost effective method in an environment of Force asymmetry?

This is simply disgusting. How can WE, the people, tolerate this?

Our money, our Children, Brothers, Sisters, Fathers and Mothers are being targeted, being killed, paying money that we believe is being used to Defend OUR Sovereign Nation from TERRORISTS, yet documents surface that say we are paying for the murder of our own people..

And yet, WE the PEOPLE are not shaken awake from our slumber.

This is pure and simple disgraceful. Where are our Morals, where is our self-conscious telling us that we need to stop this.

Where has the American Spirit gone?

Of of curse the puppets and the people in the government are going to "play this down" because they don't want us to become unruly, and demand accountability.

This is disgusting. Pure and simply disgusting. And the denial and downplay by the government should be the catalyst.

Here's more. It's beyond comprehension as why Obama and his cohorts masquerading as advisers are taking absolutely NO concrete action to slam Pakistan's military and ISI for the mess in Afghanistan. Doesn't Washington know that if they don't take action, more American and NATO lives will be at stake? Aren't the lives of these soldiers more important than molly coddling Pakistan's army and ISI?

The Wikileak documents make clear that the exploding cigar trick that Washington tried against Cuba's Fidel Castro was a mere schoolboy prank compared to the appalling range of dirty tricks that Pakistan's ISI is pulling off against the Americans and the coalition in Afghanistan. And like prostitutes, the US of A's policy makers including Obama are just lying down and taking it.

And what is Obama doing about it? He has just shrugged off the Wikileak documents by saying he has learnt nothing new!! Hell! If it's nothing new then what the heck has he been doing all this while except shed crocodile tears for the fallen soldiers? Why hasn't he put a stop to this skulduggery being perpetrated by Pakistan?

Has Obama got an answer to this one?

And then we have Britain's PM, David Cameron who sternly instructed Pakistan yesterday on his India visit to stop exporting terror to India and Afghanistan. But wait. Haven't we heard all this before? Yes! For years now like a tape played out ad infinitum. Has any action been taken except mouthing the same 'warnings'? Most likely, the ISI yawned during his peroration. Because this kind of jawing from Britain and the US of A has been going on for ages. The net effect is ZERO.

ACTION IS WHAT COUNTS AND ON THIS SCORE THE RECORD IS NON-EXISTENT!

So, basically...

We're e fighting a civil war in Afghanistan.

This war has has nothing to do with al Qaeda.

Pakistan is helping al Qaeda.

We are sending money to Pakistan.

The funds we send helps the ISI plan the deaths of American, NATO, and allied Indian personnel.

We are fighting a proxy war against Pakistan.

Pakistan wants to control Afghanistan and to to war with India.

What I miss?

You pretty well summed it all up!

Remember, there is skulduggery at every level and most important is the link between the CIA and Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI). The drug money is the key here. Afghanistan's poppy cultivation is increasing by leaps and bounds to fund the insurgency in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia.....by the Al Qaeda and various other insurgent groups notably the Afghan Taliban fighting the ISAF in Afghanistan as well as the LeT in Kashmir.

Now, part of this drug money worth billions of dollars is being siphoned off by the CIA THROUGH PAKISTAN'S ISI. For what? Why does the CIA need the money? It needs it to fund the secret 'color revolutions' in countries that are in the sphere of influence of Russia. To change pro Russian regimes and make them vassals of the US of A wherein they would be brought into the NATO fold hemming Russia from all sides - a classic case of 'envelopment'. And so with other nations too - to fund those top secret special operations in Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and many other countries that most don't have a clue about!

The CIA also needs the money for funding their top secret 'black projects'. Now remember all this money that comes in from Afghanistan's drug trade is beyond even congressional oversight. The cloak and dagger stuff that the CIA is involved in cannot be budgeted and made transparent or their cover would be blown.

Now do you see the hesitation in taking any action against Pakistan's ISI/Army? A clear case of 'YOU SCRATCH MY BACK AND I'LL SCRATCH YOURS'! Never mind if soldiers are dying. you see, the CIA is doing all this in 'supreme national interest'. The lives of a few soldiers don't count in the greater scheme of things!

Now do you realize why NOTHING is being done to destroy the thousands of acres of poppy cultivation in Afghanistan? That would be the first thing to have been done - to dry up the source of funds for terrorists. Instead the acreage is increasing in geometric progression.

DAMN! THIS SUCKS!

To be fair I have more reason to be upset than any of you. You know why because US is not paying Pakistan only from 9/11. It all started from 1950. I bet not most people were aware of that. That means it's not only the current administration fault but all administrations from 1950.

Please go thru the A Timeline of U.S. Aid to Pakistan.

Here's another thing, India raised the issue several times to US specifically stating that the funds being provided by US were being diverted to launch terrorist attacks against India even before 9/11. The US administration only ignored India statements inspite of the knowledge that was true. A brief glimpse into history will ascertain that. However, since the terrorist attacks were only being launched against India it did not matter to anyone that time.

Thanks to the continuous US funds the ISI sponsored terror groups have now such a foothold and grown so strong they are launching attacks on US/NATO troops.

I believe the current statement by US Govt. only reflects it's hypocrisy. As long as it was not being affected the funds were continuing so more attacks can be launched on other country while now when the same dog is biting the master's hand the master is suddenly all worried and concerned about the terror groups. It all comes down too "I told you soo".

Anyway, that's all history now the real question should be why US is still continuing to fund Pakistan? If United States was really interested in rooting out terrorism it should focus on Pakistan.
