yeah man
beat me to it....

When they say the government confiscated gold in the past that isn't true exactly...It went to the bankers.

as Alvin Tofler said years ago in the best seller "Future Shock":
"Not just knowledge, but knowledge of how to use knowledge"...

...That, and a good knife.

all you have to worry about then is how to deal with 100's of people who have all the time in the world to rush in take your stuff.
Agriculture under fire?
Ever actually tried subsistence farming? It's a beeyatch even when nobody is shooting at you or trying to get to it before you do. Better have a ton of crank to stay up for a year straight to keep an eye on everything.
When it comes to survival, your first mistake is also your last one.

Not really, hitler and stalin almost singlehandely threw the world into world war with its attendant casualties. See anything similar now? We are at the same place in history now. Some things just dont get better by hiding til its over.
Everything being done now in govt is to set precident for govt to control everything and prevent any pushback. Nothing happens by accident at that level, they do it because they intend to use it.

True, you will need allies. The way to gain allies is to gain respect. The way to gain respect to have knowledge that others need. You will be amazed at the length people will go to to protect you when they believe that only your knowledge can keep them alive!

I agree that knowledge will be your most important asset. Owning Gold and Silver might help but only if you can keep both eyes on it and since they confiscated gold in the past who is to say that they will not confiscate it again. They may even confiscate your silver as well this time.

Looks like we may also have to worry about the purity of the Gold as well. Apparently rust was found on some Bank of Russia Gold Coins.

Just wander the mountains, find a rural home with a struggling vegetable garden (there's a city dweller living in it), and claim you're lost. Then take their hard earned food, gold and ammo.

Oh wait, that's what the FDA, IRS and ATF do already.

So your tellin me.. that when it all comes crashing down.. all I have to do is comb the country till I find the neat little estate with a big ol house.. and there will be some snivling weasel of a stock broker sitting on a pile of gold? To easy... simply to easy..

If he's lucky though for a can of speghetti o's a day I'll let him stay and tend the crops.

Lmfao brother.. didn't read many posts on this thread, but the general assumption is city dwellers won't stand a chance in hell even if they do escape the cities lol.

I almost feel bad for em... almost..

I've thought a bit about the land issue, and ask myself this...

If, in the SHTF, situation X scenario, sure, lots of land is great. But wouldn't you expect if the gov were to have a list of individuals owning relatively large parcels of land, they would be the first target?

My thoughts exactly. If you own land you become a sitting duck. There are executive orders on the book right now that give the feds the power to seize private property and everything they find useful on that property.

Also when you buy land and pay property taxes you're easily tracked and traced. I think when all hell breaks loose it's better to be illusive and mobile not stuck tied down to a piece of property that says to the government "John Smith lives here".

things will surely correct but not as the OP's friend describes. it just won't. there are too many crooked politicos in DC. they won't let this happen. the mil-industry complex? they're definitely not going to let this happen. they'll keep us (the cash crop) propped up to continue their (secret efforts), don't you fret. and nuclear armageddon? forget it. it would close "the store" for the global players - right - it ain't gonna happen, folks.

when someone says ANYTHING to you, always ask yourself "yeah, but where's the (really big) money?"

it will not be chaos at all. a slow grinding correction in the markets, a shift in power base, a reassignment of the cheap labor well from China to Africa, political "changes" in the Middle East... is much more likely.

I somewhat agree...

If you kill off money, you kill off control.

But if a quick depopulation agenda were to be imposed by a handful of elites, there couldn't be a better way.

But what do I know...

Well ts not necessarily like that.

I just spent 7 months working in West Tennessee at a power plant. Many of the folks down there live in rural areas and have a few acres or more on their property.

They all stick together. Everyone has guns. They all look out for each other and for suspicious activity. These traders ....they're simply going to blend in with the rest of the folks so you wont really know who the ex-trader with a pile of gold is.

If we look back to the great depression, or any depression in the world's history for that matter, the rural folks with tillable land fare the greatest.

Dude you are leaving in a dream scape. We have thousands of Islamic Fundamentalist Jihadists looking for and wide for any yellow cake plutonium to sneak in to the U.S.

All they got to do is pay off a few Mexican Mafia member some big bucks at the border and they're in. Nuclear war doesnt exactly depend on the mil-industry complex. Some things are just out of the hands of the pupetteers.

Plus we have just about every country in the world, except for the U.S. trying to figure out how to destroy Jerusalem. Its just a matter of time

Your 'friend' may be right about some things, but I have a cousin who happens to work in the Chicago stock exchange and is a multi-billionaire and he hasn't said a word to any of us ('us' being my family) about inflation going up so much anytime soon.

I don't doubt it will all happen, but I doubt it will be anytime too soon.

I will give him a call/email him and see what he thinks/knows. He also has companies in multiple countries including a few places in Europe so he does have more connections then I can probably even imagine. I'm glad I read this post because I'll talk to him now about this stuff and get back to you all.

I still think the best bartering items of value will be Tobacco and Alcohol.

When people are down, they tend to want one of the above and do anything for them.

Tell your stockbroker friend if him and his buddies were really smart they would have been investing in

1. Palladium
2. Pork Bellies
3. Coffee
4. Orange Juice

All over the past year have outpaced the gains of gold and silver. Include any piece of land as well you can think of. Some have more than doubled their gains.
