He should be allowed to put what ever he wants on his barn, but when it offends the neighbors then the local government gets involved. I bet a number
of people complained about the sign. They probably thought it would ruin the property value in the area. These signs are along the interstates and
everyone just ignores them, probably rolling their eyes as they pass by them. Same is probably true of this guy's barn.
What the guy should probably be doing if he wants to get the message out "That Jesus Saves" is by getting to know his neighbors and developing a
relationship where they have trust in him. By his deeds they should see he is living a kind loving neighbor living by the creeds of Christ. He will
get people more interested in why Christ Saves by his own actions. Go and make disciples involves more than putting a sign on your barn. You got to
put your feet to the dirt or the pavement.
By the way, the sign "Christ Saves" doesn't explain much into the nature of what really happened. It all stems from Adam and Eve. Everybody's
genetic code is derived from them. When they ate of the forbidden fruit they instantly were awarded the death sentence because of what God warned them
about: "Eat this fruit and you will die." It was all about free will and order in the universe. The two things had to have balance. They disobeyed
and their lives were terminated almost a 1000 years later. God could have just killed them on the spot and made new humans but the free will/order
issue still would not have been resolved. It may have repeated once again. He could have made robot like humans will no free will but the point was to
make humans in God's image, with pure free will just like him. If all intelligent creatures, human and spirit, were more like robots then God would
have been all alone without anyone to relate to.
Back to the point of Jesus Saves. Adam and Eve's tainted genetic code passed on to all of us. The death sentece was spread to everyone. God cannot
lie and so all offspring of Adam and Eve had to end in death. Anything God says he has to stick too. That's why he had to lock up the garden of eden
because of the tree of life. If Adam and Eve ate from that tree after they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and bad then God would have to honor
his original saying of giving life. It was loop hole. God is bound by his own law. I think if he broke his own law one day the universe would implode.
The equation would divide by zero and it would be all over.
What Jesus did was replace Adam and Eve's genetic code with his. When he died as a perfect being he cancelled out the error of Adam and Eve. Jesus
adopted mankind as his new sons and daughters with eternal life in view. Now God's original statement of the death sentence had a work around. There
is a catch, however. This isn't a "Free get out of Jail" card. To be adopted by Jesus there is work involved. You have to live the life like Jesus.
His life course is what Adam and Eve should have lived. A self sacrificing, helpful, loyal, loving, caring person; The fruitages of the spirit and so
forth. You know what I mean.
Sorry for being preachy. This is what I felt when I read the opening post.
