What exactly makes these economist "distinguished"? Why are they leading economist?

Having actually studied economics in college I believe that in theory a free market economy is the best possible alternative. Theoretically a free market would even solve for corporations because if people were all informed they would use consumer power to boycott and prevent the formation and abuse of corporations. Unfortunately theory does not apply to reality, and we cannot assume that people are both informed and intelligent. Never-the-less I still think it would be a better system than a dictated economy.

However, that does not mean I support these "leading economist", because from what I've seen economist in our modern era are only esteemed because they are on the pay roll of either Republicans and Democrats.

Why didn't economist predict the recession? Because it was not in the interest of their wallets to do so. Why is economics so abstract to the average person? Because our prominent economist are all full of BS.

Great Thread and I see the Liberal Obamanite already came on and tried to throw failed Obamanomics in to play here, Yes it's the same old (12GaugePermissionSlip ) at it again.
Listen in one breath repeat after me, Obama, Socialism, Obama = Socialist economics and a failed policies, which equal keeping the poor even poorer and middle class taxed to the poor house.

You really need to stop reading all those socialist blogs.
Or the bigger question should be, Are you an Obama disinfo agent.
OK, Let me think about this, 100 leading economists or Obama and 12GaugePermissionSlip man of the hour. It AIN'T OBAMA or ANY OTHER SOCIALIST!

You have to start accepting the fact that we live in a post-industrial society and economy. Where it's more economic to have our goods manufactured somewhere else while we consume, consume, consume.

We're a nation and economy based on services, not on production. I don't see how turning back the clock to the 'good ol' days' will help anything. American isolationism will not make for a better world. It definently won't make for a better America.

Well america like the UK just throw money at the banksters so they could play another round of roulet and it only got vote through in the UK because your politicains all got some money for pet projects.

Naf all was done to help works and these people are now facing tax rises.

The people could not stop these handouts even if they wanted to which leads on to no taxation without representations.

america went to war with the UK because the UK wanted you to use our fiat money and yet you allow the FED which is owned by zionists to do as they please.

First off, Boehner is a tool and I have a hard time taking any BS posted on his website for political purposes seriously.

Everytime I see Boehner I think about how in 1995 he proudly pranced around the house floor literally handing out checks from big tobacco to representitives minutes before a vote to remove subsidies for tobacco companies.

He is as corrupt as a politician gets..

As for the rest of it? You can find 100 economists that say the earth is flat...

The Stimulas didn't have as large an impact as most hoped.

The WH claims that is due to the fact that the Recession was much deeper than expected.

GOP pundits claim the Stimulas was a bad idea to start with.

I think there is some truth to both positions, but primarily both sides are just spouting political rhetoric with niether having a complete mastery of the economic forces at play.

I also believe following all the indicators that the economy is in fact recovering, albeit slowly-which I prefer to boom and bust, and mostly by it's own accord. We will never fully know if the stimilulas played a significant role or if it would have been much worse without it.

I know those ideas don't easily lend themselves to political rhetoric and partisanship, but I believe them to be true all the same.

Obama isnt alone..Those 100 economist guys are perhaps 50% of the staff Obama has. Do you really think one of the powerful governments of the new age dont have a clue what they are doing? In that case of those who believe that, its a reason for you not sitting in that chair and ruling.

Even if you do not understand the choices, they are very much being discussed by the best at its field, and the choices so far the last 200 years for USA has been a pure tactical amazing event.

Both in war,economy and sacrifice.

If you cant connect the dots, dont even try to understand.
