I have no clue why, but as of July 2, 2010
the ATS servers have been extremely
sluggish in responding to html request
for pages, including trying to upload
images.

I would click on a thread link and the page
request would take so long that it would time out
and give my browser an error.

What is causing this problem and is anybody else
having this problem???
It's not the internet in general as I click on news
sites like CNN, Fox, etc.... and they pop up
in just a few seconds. Can somebody please explain
this??? As it gets rather irritating to wait 1-2 minutes
for a page to load and then get a time-out message.

I've not seen this.

In what country do you reside, and what's the speed of your Internet connection?

sounds like a issue with your provider or computer...its working fine for me (Florida).

I wont get into too much techy stuff here...but test other pages, get some cleanup tools and ad/spyware removers, etc...and run some tests for connection speeds and pings online.

Same thing here in Houston. Takes a lot longer to load. Havent "timed out". Checked for virus on computer and nothing. Only have the problem with ATS. It loads but takes around 30 - 90 seconds. Before it was almost instant.

No problem here, not on computer, not on phone (both full and mobile version). When was the last time you had a fresh OS?

It happens to me to occasionally. ( The netherlands )

But I've noticed it is not specifically with ATS. So that would rule out an ATS glitch, right ?

I also checked for viruses over the weekend
and nothing there. It's just at ATS for me.

However, just now it feels normal again
maybe it's sporadic timeouts.

No issues here in the Pacific Northwest US.

Alls fine. Try dumping your temp folder contents and browser cookies.

but both my locations have crashed and i cant get
brouser setings to work in conjunction with the site

i tried to discuss this but a mod canned it.

you got a bug. free stuff won't detect or fix. the program i found that works is Stopzilla. it's 30 bucks but it works.

are you getting redirected to google or well-action.com? if so, its got you good.

Same going on here. I am in St. Louis. No other sites are quite as slow. I was also getting the Google home search page opening randomly in a separate window.
I got that to stop after running MalwareBytes and my antivirus in a scan. They both found several trojans each.
But the pages are still loading slow on ATS. I'm wondering if the horses on either side of the page have anything to do with it?? It started about when they were added--for me at least.

ETA: I use two firewalls, one adblocker, and two antiviruses (being the typical paranoid type
) And no recent downloads of anything. So I am kind of puzzled as to where those trojans came from...

Have been having this problem off and on for about a month .
VERY slow most of the time , although it did help some when I deleted all my history and dumped several folder contents .

For me , it is at least 2-3 minute delay , sometimes it takes longer , and there are times that I have to shut completely down and re-boot just to make anything happen at all .

I really do believe it is something connected with ATS , as I don't have this problem anywhere but here .

There are also times that I click on a link , and boldly go where no man has gone before . Meaning , I get taken to pages and sites that are totally unrelated to the link in the post .

Have had a tech out who gave it a good cleaning , installed more anti-virus etc.,

There are times that it is so irritating that I just give it up .
Although , today it seems to be better than it has been in awhile .

Nope you're not losin it. I've started having problems a little over a week ago , only here on ATS. Slow loading time, and I mean slow, pop ups when I login, and hard time posting sometimes, gets all jumpy and takes forever to type. I cleared my cache, ran my anti spyware/anti-virus, etc. Nothing helped, this went on for a cpl days, I knew there was something there but I couldn't get anything to grab it. Then it hit me big time one of those viruses that pretends to be windows security came on asking me to do a sweep, it said the Google bar was infected. My spysweeper caught and quarantined it, I deleted it, but it was still there, I ran Malware bites it quarantined it, I removed it and restarted my PC and it was still there.

So I put my PC in safe mode and man o man it was a mass attack
There were four of them
I think someone planted trojans on the site. Try putting your PC in safe mode and sweeping it, with some of the bugs something stops you from catching it unless your in safe mode.

What is causing this problem and is anybody else
having this problem???

I just noticed this thread, but I was getting the same thing occasionally in California during the same time frame you mentioned, on a 10 megabit down, 2 megabit up broadband connection.

I assumed that the first bullet point in that screenshot applied, that the site was temporarily unavailable. But now after reading SO's reply, it seems that may not have been the case.

Other sites were sluggish too but ATS was the only site that timed out completely and gave me that time-out error.

I tried changing DNS servers and that seemed to help a little bit, but that didn't appear to be the cause, though on other occasions when I get errors like that I have found changing the DNS can help. (In those other cases it was just a temporary problem with the DNS when it happened, maybe once a year or so on average. But that didn't appear to be the cause this time).

Whatever the problem was, it was in fact temporary and I'm not getting those timeout errors from ATS any more.

Thanks for posting this so I know it wasn't just me!
