Looks like you yanks are in for quite a spectical this evening

A partial lunar eclipse about to take place will appear magnified in the US by an effect known as the "moon illusion".

The eclipse will begin 1017 GMT when the Moon enters the shadow of Earth.

Because of the timing, it will not be visible from the UK or Europe.

But in many parts of the US and Canada, the eclipse will appear larger because it occurs while the Moon is so close to the horizon.

According to Nasa, low-hanging Moons look "unnaturally large when they beam through trees, buildings and other foreground objects". The reason for this is not understood.

news.bbc.co.uk...

Should make for some cracking photos, especially as its so low on the horizon

*Jealous*

cool, didnt know this was going to happen, wonder if it was on the news like eclipses usualy are, or if theyve begun to ignore astronomical occurences also. luckily i found this thread before it happens here in a few hours, im on the west coast perfect place to see it before it sets while eclipsing over the ocean.

I Forgot about the eclipse tonight!

*heyJude hopes to see pics of the eclipse.

Second thought, isn't there another eclipse soon, in July? I might be wrong.

I just ran out side, it looks cool. The more you stare it, it starts to appear like two moons overlapping.

odd.. im gonna ramble about photobucket.

so... i have had that photobucket account for a couple years now, never realy done much with it, but apparently its always been set to private, and as such has always read to me that i have had 0 album visits, of course, cant visit a private album, but as soon as i put in those eclipse photos i had 27 album visits in 5 minutes after i tryed to visit it myself while logged out i figured out the private setting and undid it and made it public, but i got those 27 visits before making the account public, so, am i out of place and should post this on photobuckets help section? or perhaps is their a conspiracy regarding eclipse photos and recieving vists when my profile was still set to private?
