This is dramatic footage taken from the sky of the waters surrounding the Gulf oil disaster taken by James Fox who flew over the BP Gulf oil disaster with Marine Biologist Dr. Carl Safina.

James Fox flew over the BP Gulf oil disaster with Marine Biologist Dr. Carl Safina who's president of Blue Ocean Institute on day 52 of the BP Oil spill. What we saw and documented was horrific.

This is a great find. Man that guy is really on point. This thing is huge and it sucks so much snip. S&F for the truth this guy has to say and for posting this. It's painful to watch , but everyone should see this.

The oil spill is a terrible disaster, there is simply no way around that fact. People might dismiss it and bring up other spills that are ongoing but the fact it has happened in open water, close to the major ocean currents is a big issue.


However.

The simple truth is that we need oil, our entire economy is based upon it and it would take the people to stand up and change it. If public will were behind the issue then it could change. solar and wind power are simply not mature enough to deal with the issue, fusion is at least 30 years away (barring sudden breakthroughs) and other forms of power are just nowhere near our needs with current infrastructure.

What could change things is the global implementation of nuclear power. I know people hate this but the simple fact is that it's very safe, check out Frances record for verification. Even the odd mistake is minor compared the the global pollution that oil offers. Also with technology evolving as it has we have found a use for some of the waste. Nuclear waste is still radioactive and radiation can be turned into energy! Thee are small scale passive devices which can absorb the radiation and use it for power.

These could be planted around the globe as a distributed grid to supplement the major power grid. These systems are advancing as we speak and they are fully sealed and protected, with no chance of meltdown as they are not fission or fusion devices.

We also need to stop seeing solar and wind power as the saviors. A combination of solar, wind, geothermal, bio fuel, nuclear and most importantly energy savings measures should be the approch for the future. The simply truth is that for the next 50 years a combination of these technologies could drastically reduce our need of a central grid, distributed power is truly the future with a central grid needed to deal with sudden increases in power demand.

The problem with the western world is it's lack of will to instigate such ideas and it's ignorance of them. It's nothing to do with the leaders, it's all about the general populous because as much as we like to moan about the leaders it is the people who truly have the power. In this world maybe 200,000 people exist in power, that's an absolute upper estimate.

there are nearly 7 billion of us, we have the power to change things and maybe we should realise that.

Ok, now that the damage has been done we have to move on, now everyone take a breath and think, where do clouds come from, so that being said all enviromental type scientists better get on there laptops and start figuring out the logistics of said cloads of toxic chemicals, there possible range, effect, etc,, it's grade 5 science people, and from the overall look of the video, we have screwed the pooch deeply, said leak could very well be, as another member on here said " I'm afraid they struck an artery, and note a vien." ( post by queenannie38 ),,,which i thought put it brilliantly.

This is my view about it.

The simple but hard truth is that despite it sound impossible or too good to be true, we did not need that oil, nuclear power, solar and wind power anymore since so many years.

The technology to replace these energy sources for absolutely clean energy and as an infinite source is already there, but it is still not release in the so called public domain.

You're right. Nuclear power is really the way to go. A lot of people fear it but we have gotten really good at controlling nuclear reactions. The only problem with Nuclear power is the disposal of Nuclear waste. That stuff is super dangerous and sticks around for a long, long, long time.

Firstly i would like to state i believe their are numerous strange objects flying around our atmosphere, i am not saying these are alien life just experimental projects.

Having said that i think it's wrong to state they are using exotic forms of energy production. If you believe it then great but why try and bring up such a thing in an argument like this when if you are correct it would never even come to light? Lets stick with technologies that can clean up the planet that humans actually have access to.

It's like me saying i have a form of energy that is absolutely and completely clean, and while we're at it i have a replicator that can make anything we need but it's all secret. How does any of that help humanity?

Lets stick with what we have and present solutions we can actually use.

Correct, however companies are presenting alternatives. Nuclear waste outputs a good amount of radiation and that radiation can be harnessed as power. Sticking the waste into specialist reactors means we could use the slow trickle of power to use in a number of situations. Communities could have reactors buried in the ground to supply constant slow energy for low power lights, or water purification.

Once these reactors were exhausted the waste could be used to power low output batteries for consumer applications. People are so upset about radiation and yet they happily carry around watches with tritium inserts, fire alarms which use radiation as detectors and lets not forget the number of industrial applications for radioactive compounds. I wonder how many people know that the thickness of toilet paper is often determined using a radioactive source and detector.

I did not say that it would never even come to light; I said that it is still not released in the so called public domain.

I did bring up such a thing in an argument like this because it would be extremely foolish to wait for the next major oil disaster like this to happen or the next major nuclear disaster as did happen in Chernobyl in Russia.

It’s very unwise to think that those disasters will be the last ones.

And clean energy sources like solar and wind energy are absolutely unable to meet the demand for the necessary amount of energy in this world, especially when China and India are the next major growing economies that will therefore demand more and more energy and therefore need more and more oil and/or nuclear power.

And that will raise most likely the danger of a next disaster, which could be even more destructive then those two.

The comparison with Chernobyl is utterly dishonest. Modern governments have developed decent safety protocols. Chernobyl was a joke, a pathetic standard which was never respected.

The idea of comparing Chernobyl with modern plants is so pathetic i struggle to keep a straight face.

If the big shot oil tycoons do not STOP buying out, and crushing technologies that eliminate our need for oil, we better start searching for a DIFFERENT PLANET to live on, as we are certainly DESTROYING this one FAST!!!!

We, the common folk, wouldn't have to rely on oil if the CORRUPT oil tycoons who have only PROFIT and GREED on the their minds 24/7 would try to think about our planet and life itself for a CHANGE.

List of nuclear reactors is a comprehensive annotated list of all the nuclear reactors of the world, sorted by country. This list excludes nuclear marine propulsion reactors, except those at land installations, and reactors that never achieved criticality.
