She was not arrested for being in debt.

She was arrested for failing to turn up for a compulsory court appearance.

When that happens, an arrest warrant is automatically sent out, and they will put you behind bars and TAKE you to court, in handcuffs if necessary.

That is how the system works.

She has been very very foolish.

She was not put in jail for being in debt. The title is VERY deceiving . Obviously she was required to come to court but didn't show. If you're required to show and don't, you can be arrested.
