I managed to catch the final ep'. What an awesome second season!!

Lets just hope we don't have to wait to long for season 3.

I believe season 3 is already in production and will be aired starting in Jan 2012.

It was rumored that the shows budget was increased significantly because it's done so well.

Yay - what a lovely surprise to come back to.

I've been enjoying all the re-runs of Season 1 and the prequel. They're still enjoyable, even if you watch them twice a week

While I'm ecstatic about the upcoming season (feels so far away), I can't help but feel it's going to feel a lot different since Andy Whitfield won't be taking the role due to his health. I can't say I'm overly familiar with Liam McIntyre, but he certainly has some big shoes to fill after the performance Andy put on during the first season.

Hi, welcome to ATS.

I agree it will be a bit odd having a different actor playing Spartacus but I wonder if the whole show will be quite a bit different since the action will probably be taking place away from Capua and the arena.

I'm hoping there will be enough familiar characters to keep it feeling like the programme we've all enjoyed so much. I'm still miserable at the loss of Batiatus, though. I've come to love him more and more as I've watched the re-runs. I suppose a few flashbacks in the new series would be too much to hope for

Sadly, Andy Whitfield has just died. I am posting this article and picture as a tribute to him:

www.dailymail.co.uk...

Whitfield's wife Vashti paid an emotional tribute to her husband, she said: 'On a beautiful sunny Sydney spring morning, surrounded by his family, in the arms of his loving wife, our beautiful young warrior Andy Whitfield lost his 18 month battle with lymphoma cancer.
'He passed peacefully surrounded by love. Thank you to all his fans whose love and support have help carry him to this point.
'He will be remembered as the inspiring, courageous and gentle man, father and husband he was.'

This series was complete crap.

Nothing more than soft core porn with a storyline the boys and girls can understand.

Just programming to reinforce the slave complex. Men are cold blooded killers and women are power hungry succubi.

I am not surprised they killed his ass in real life before the series could give the people that watch the idea of revolting from their oppressors.

Especially with the state the economy is in now. Doooooooom.

Nothing inspiring here just a waste of film.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion but I wish you might have expressed it before I posted the news that Andy Whitfield had died.

If you want to discuss things that are in poor taste I should like to put your timing at the top of the list. Oh, and "I am not surprised they killed his ass in real life" can come second.

Maybe you missed or have forgotten your school history lessons about the Roman empire, the programme is not to far from the truth.

Haha, that's exactly what I was thinking when I read that post.

The talk of being slaves, well yeah, the Romans had slaves and not just the symbolic type like so many refer to today.

If nothing else it can get people excited about history and to learn about the Roman empire.

There's something to whet one's appetite - certainly a rival for Walkers Crisps

I quite miss the re-runs now they're not on TV but January is only a couple of months away, although I notice that is for the premium network cable. I wonder when we'll get it?

Thanks for posting - it's nice to have something to cheer up a damp autumn evening.

edit on 7-11-2011 by berenike because: one day I'll learn to read the article as well as getting excited about the trailer
