Debate: Should We Fear or Welcome Alien Contact?

Any life form in the universe we ever contact including other humans will have come up through the ranks as we did,all the kids on our block throw rocks.

Simply hope that the incoming LARGE ships are our human allies and then HOPE that we dont meet any non-humans before we are more able to defend ourselves without simply blowing the planet up with nukes.

And dont forget that if Germany had won the war Hitler would be humanities ambassador,SO DONT ASSUME THAT HUMANS LIKE US ARE A SAFE BET IN ANY WAY.

We must treat any new contact as we have traditionally treated cultures and races we have encountered,wether we FEEL it is the right way or not ,that is the way of the universe.

And we must expect to be treated as the indians were,maybe thats what the influenza epidemic that was well on its way to wiping mankind out was,an attack like the blankets contaminated with smallpox given to the Indians.

We have plenty of experience,we ARE STREETWISE,we just need to stay sharp and be prepared to attack with determination and intent if needed.

If these guys have been here for thousands of years there must be REASONS WE ARENT FRIENDS,and I would say that based on our nature and temperment that HUMANITY would rout anyone trying to control it while in its infancy,even a much further advanced race.

I have seen an elephant paint a beautiful picture,I have seen birds reproduce human voices ,I have seen gorillas speak sign language in conversation and express intelligence and emotion and a sense of TIME,at least the present and future,maybe .I worked at a Zoo and I saw a monkey steal a trainers keys out of his pocket and rush over to a locked door,put his hands through and around the fence --tured the keys around and blindly without being able to see what he was doing begin to insert one key after another into the lock all the while keeping an eye on the trainer.

It wouldnt be so easy to keep us enslaved without having to simply kill many of us,our emotional makeup wont allow us to not fight for the title,sooner or later.

Some should fear it. Some will not see it. Some will see it for what it is.

I believe in U.F.O's, However I do not believe in alien's. I believe the guy's running the U.F.O's have been here a lot longer than human's have.

I believe full disclosure will come very soon and it will be the 2nd biggest event in human history, but I also believe that it will be a "False Flag" event to cover up the event which is the 1st biggest event.

I think the disclosure will probably usher in a great time of prosperity and peace. After all you will not have any reason to fight anymore. The much anticipated New World Order will finally be here.

This is the one event that will unite the entire world under one banner.

Yes,united as one team,just in time to build a massive space ship as big as we can imagine,fill it with millions of us and fly it "home"like we are supposed to do,just resource management you know.

Problem is ,this little earth event we are going to see soon that will effect us all.

If it goes anything like this.....we should FEAR, oh how we should fear our stupidity the most.

I have always embraced nature and I believe we are survivors as a species,we are armed after all.

As humans we have "built"our way up the evolutionary ladder at light speed by defeating mother natures levels or stages by using our technology,we have built some pretty sharp claws as well,but a bigger question may be wether or not our physical evolutioary turtle walk is going to mess us up because our intellectual and emotional sprint,maybe we do evolve spiritually somehow but WE ARENT READY PHYSICALLY TO MAKE THE TRANSITION WELL OUR SPIRITUAL AND EMOTIONAL SELVES ARE READY AND FEELING TRAPPED.

We ourselves are enhanced primates,given a "booster shot"of human DNA,which is where we were headed anyways,this has created a dilemma for mother nature.

And everyone knows you shouldnt mess with mother nature.

Allrighty! Here goes,
I Believe Based on the Asumption that any alien life would be remotely similer to us in eco requirements that Stephen Hawkings view would be correct.
However I find it Somewhat improbable that life evolving on planets with enviroments hostile to us and reaching the capability of space travel would even bother with us anymore than we would an ant colony or bee hive. They might Mess With us get stung and leave us alone Seeing that earth has nothing for them. We should only worry when we start to leave our world to explore the universe, Then they might see us as a problem.

Nah,
The Alien attitude towards us doesn't matter.
WE SHOULD ALWAYS BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST.
It's the most secure and rational thing to do.
Even if Aliens would seem to be nice we should NEVER, NEVER reveal all cards in our sleeves.
So in the end it's not the matter of fear, but prepardness. If you are prepared you have nothing to fear, you can be at most concerned about it. So if we are afraid it means we are not prepared.

We really should make humanity's top priority space colonization and creation of more egalitarian world as that would create more stable, reliable society. Thus making us more prepared.

We should fear their technology, agreed. Being more advanced technologically is not necessarily an indication of better intelligence.

We are much more technologically advanced than early homo sapiens but not necessarily more intelligent. Learning is incremental. Its a mistake of modern society to equate primitive with stupid. The same mistake could work in reverse.

They could be less intelligent but just a much much older species with a less unstable outlook. Just a thought.

If this is the case they have every cause to be wary of us... :-)

It's not a question about tehnology. Tehnology gives you only potential to do things. When it comes to Aliens fear is only indication of lack of mental and social prepardeness as human kind to deal with Aliens. We are afraind because we have all eggs in one basket. We would be propably less afraid if we would have for example colony on Mars.

Everyone is different, but me personally I am happy to step into a dark place to see what’s there. My life is only short and I want to know what’s around me in the universe.

Id love to have a conversation with an intelligent alien and find out their feelings on spirituality and their knowledge of the universe and technology, taking into account they traveled to find us, their knowledge would greatly exceed our own.

The human race to me is like a teenager ATM, and some outside experience would serve us well, and hey if we ever do have to deal with some Independence Day style attack from angry aliens, so be it, bring it on. It’s worth the risk I say.

in my opinion, If Extraterrestrials exist than they are already Aware of our presence on earth.

We've Already Broadcasted Radio waves and such Pretty deep into space so far, and that distance gets larger Every Second.

I beleive that if we were to oneday come into contact with E.T.'s Then it Could be Good.

i think they may just be waiting for us to advance Further and attempt to make us an Ally of sorts.

Human Kind at this point really has no effect on the surrounding solar system, galaxy, or universe. But as our technology Advances Alien Life May Deem us Worthy of attention.

Of COURSE we should AVOID CONTACT. IF they get HERE, it is because they are big enough, and BAD enough, to have killed-off all other threats.
THAT is how NATURE works!

I had to laugh for a minute reading this thread title, you could take the word alien out and put the word human in there just as easily. Or the word Mother-in-law. If I saw a UFO I think running would be in order, unless you want to end up like the cows. If pleasant contact was going to happen it would have happened in an organized ethical/ moral approach already. Write in a crop "When is disclosure and aimable contact going to happen?" They obviously are monitoring us like a zoo. Not acting like nice neighbors.

The debate is between life and death. In our small planet in the neverending space we can't avoid aliens. Our government has already contacted them. Since 1950 (around that time) the greys said there species were going extinct and they needed our help. They conducted experiences on earth and signed treaties for peace. They exchanged our help for their technology. Now thousands of greys work at government bases and are slowly taking us hostile. Our children are being lab rats or fed to the greys. The females on earth are being raped to make alien/human hybrids. The reptillians are playing with our world and turning us against eachother. But we are not alone. Many other species of aliens are already helping us and even the defenders of orion are aware. If you dont believe this, all the proof you need is dulce base and its death hall. Hundreds of thousands of children go missing every year without a trace and i can tell you that no pervert can snatch a child from his room with his parents in the house without leaving evidence he was there. Trust me the truth is horrible and I only thank the people who have risked their lives giving me the knowledge i know now. I'm here to spread the truth because YOU must be ready. Don't go into denial but embrace the truth.

I have big plans for the future. - and yes I have joined today so don't call me a fraud or whatever because this isnt the last time you'll hear from me.

We can't escape them then we must face them.

I read in some book that they came to earth to marry human girls coz they are beautiful and to have children with them.

I dont think we can interact with them,that's all.

See, we interact by words, talking and gestures coz we arent empaths.

It's like this:they come to you but since you're not a telepath you have these emotion that dosent belong to you.Geez we cant even sit in someone else's computer without being fraked up a bit.

Some poeple can even trow up trapped in emotions they dont get.

example?->let's say there's a wasp flying in your face, for a moment you take astep back and you get that emotion of fear...so brief with goosebumps (it only last a fraction of a second)and then you come back to your senses. Now imagine this emotion lasting seconds even minutes...you wont tolerate that.
you will sceam your a$$ off.your knees bending as your soul is yelling for it to stop with your hands on each side of your head fingers spread...
and yet it's just a simple emotion
So they wont interact with us.I like to think they would like to but they prefer not

That's kind of impossible to answer without knowing anything about the aliens themselves. If they are the type Sigourney Weaver hunts down, we should FEAR. If they are Ewoks, we should WELCOME.

Aliens are one of the few things Stephen Hawking knows no more about than the rest of us.

I think we need to be very cautious with this. We may be opening a can of worms that we will never be able to close.
