In a time of war most ships are going to burn from the missles and torpedos. It would be better to be a ground pounder than a sailer. I hope those sailers can swim.

Naval engagements are much more strategic than ground fighting. It's all about how you use your ships to systematically destroy the enemy armada's capabilities, ultimately eliminating the enemy navy.

You have to remember that, for all the weapons a ship can carry, there's only going to be a few dozen together at most in a combat scenerio and a skipper's job is to protect his ship over everything else. When you hit an enemy ship with a torpedo and you blow it to pieces, you gotta remember that you just killed hundreds of fellow humans and their buddies will do the same to you, another reason for naval deterance.

So in the end, it's not about which ship has the bigger guns, it's about who has the bigger balls and the better cunning to be decisive.

Really, you should even fear regular Russian infantry. You think they were raised on cartoons and video games like American GIs? All they know is hardship, and they know who causes it and they know how to repay the favor.

So, if the russian infantry wants to repay someone for their hardship, wouldn't they just frag their own officers and then go home?

Are you in Russian infantry or did you get that attitude from some special report on TV? Russia is what it is, and they achieve results through radical means.

And with that, who is in the submarine, and who is in the target.

Do you think France would side with Russia if things got bad?

I think France will go with NATO. Russia, at this point, is still only a Regional threat. They don't have the man power (or peoples support) to go off invading Europe (yet).

Putin is following his plan of 15 years. With the worse yet to come for the West. He will attack where it hurts the most... The wallets.

Yeah i personally don't see any of the 5 ruling UN security councillors going to war with one another so long as the UN exists what with their veto power and what have you.

Stumbled across this little piece wich coincides well with the launch of their first Mistral

www.defencetalk.com...

Adding more ships, upgrading others. Seems Russia is getting quite a boost to their force-projection capabilities. Its a far cry from the might of NATO. But I`d still be worried tho, if I happened to rule a former Soviet republic with a coastline...

War sucks anyway..
