The way I understood Lamentations, is that most of what God has created is empty space, room, like in the Universe that surrounds us where "the Earth
is suspended in the empty space". This emptiness is reflected in our emotional and intellectual experience too, as doubt or being unable to resonate,
perhaps due to an experience we don't want to believe. But instead of ambivalence and mistrust you can enter the scenario and make sense out of it.
Emptiness is the state of not knowing what to believe, and this is the very source of all faith and knowledge (or gnosis if you like that word
better).
