Nine people were shot and three people were killed in what appears to have been two drive-by shootings in Southeast D.C. on Tuesday night. Four officers were also hurt when they crashed their cruisers as they chased the suspects into Prince George's County.
Police believe the situation began with one shooting on Galveston Street SW, where an 18-year-old man was said to have been shot. According to police, his injuries were non-life threatening.
Then, police say the second shooting involved multiple victims and took place at Brandywine and S. Capitol Streets SE. Police say that's where eight people were said to have been shot.
According to a D.C. Police official, three people died as a result of their injuries.
Police say both shootings appear to have been drive-by shootings. Police tell FOX 5 three suspects are in custody, but no other details were given.
