You need to learn from history, and if you see how Russia has always behaved (historicaly aggressive), you will see that their mode of operation has always been to "get their foot in the door" and establish presence in a region and then gain dominance.

If you want to play the history lesson, do not forget the countless times that Russia has been invaded. Napoleon and Hitler butchered a significant portion of their population. So, not always "historically aggressive." You're masquerading the truth and depicting the Russians as the Hunnic Empire.

Alaska was its only overseas colony, so I have no idea how you can conclude Russia dominating regions though history. The Soviet Union liked to inform the proletariat in the factories of the "growing influence", but it had limited impact outside the iron curtain and Communist nations.

As for drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico. The target area is well outside American waters and even outside their "economic zone" (under international law), so I have no idea how the President has surrendered territory, that isn't under his jurisdiction.

However, this timid and tentative approach to foreign policy, by Obama, is rather inept. The United States has been diluted to world power, instead of the most powerful and influential.

It wouldn't matter if our president was Obama, McCain, Bush... anyone really.

If it was anyone but Obama, no one would be talking about it.

Well that's not true, because if it were Bush that had done this you would be among the first to voice your disdain for what he did. You sure are feeling holier than thou today, BH!

Looks like he wants to drill on the East Coast instead.

Government set to unveil offshore drilling plan

"The Obama administration is expected to announce by Wednesday its updated plan for oil and natural gas drilling in U.S. waters, including whether to allow exploration for the first time along the U.S. East Coast."

Obama is such a fool. Give up oil so we can drill on our own reserves. Good call Obama. I thought you didn't want to drill because of the environment?
Such a liar.

"The administration's plan is expected to spell out whether and when drilling will be allowed in 3 million acres off the Virginia coast."

3 million acres? And he goes on to explain that "now" offshore drilling would be okay if coastlines were protected. How can anyone trust this guy?
