[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/9959c80cb09e.jpg[/atsimg]Strange Lights over Santa Ynez, CA

I am a freight pilot and fly back and forth between San Luis Obispo, CA to Ontario, CA weekly. On this day however while taking pictures of the sunset I saw these odd glowing lights I thought were reflections from the instrument panel to the window, but I tested it by waving my hands over the windscreen, and the objects were still outside. I was flying at 11,000 msl, the object(s) looked to be 5 miles away and a few thousand feet above my altitude. They were stationary for about 10 minutes and then started an ascent which lasted about 5 minutes until they disappeared. In their ascent they appeared to stretch. I'm still not sure what I saw, and haven't seen them since. [The objects are seen in an enlargement in the right lower corner.]

either this has been posted on ATS before or there were some lights in the sky that were reported with the same configuration

It looks interesting, I don't know what it could be.

Though the air force folks will instantly recognize this as swamp-gas.

Them sure are some "not reflections" all right.

G'day reject

I think I can see further faint orange areas to the right of the 4 "objects".

In view of that, I think I am looking at a series of reflections as follows:

- 4 brighter ones

- A few dimmer ones to the right.

Kind regards
Maybe...maybe not

and not passenger planes!!

The guy didn't do much of a test did he, ' but I tested it by waving my hands over the windscreenl'. They could be lights from the wing or really could of come from anywhere in the cockpit. But i am sure they are a reflection of something.
Shame on c2c.

Something's not quite right in this photo.

After looking at it and realising it's a reflection of some sort (Because of the curvature of the Anomoly), you can see a reflection of some sort (Maybe the 4 Oddities) repeating on the right side.

I don't want to insult the OP but, you know....

my monitor must be really about to go bad because I don't see other reflections...

I certainly hope you weren't referring to this:

[The objects are seen in an enlargement in the right lower corner.]

no, about 5cm to the right is a reflection of the same colour, which also happens to be a similar colour to a sunset (the time this was taken). There is also a general hue of the same colour over the majority of the picture.
