Not a good idea to put him out in the field if he behaves this way at home IMO.
He would be a liability to the troops-
And would make a crap soldier I think.
Taking drugs, abusing children etc...not what the army needs on their team.

Running through minefields though, they may let him try that out.

"He is understood to have told fellow prisoners and staff who he is, making it more likely that his new identity will leak out.

"It's an extremely difficult position for the authorities to be in," said Harry Fletcher, assistant secretary general of the probation union, Napo. "If they go ahead with court proceedings, this could undermine his anonymity but the fact he is self-disclosing his identity means giving him another new identity becomes almost inevitable. This situation is fraught with difficulties."
www.guardian.co.uk...

Anyone think he is admitting his identity on purpose? Either to ruin any future trial...and/or due to his deteriorating mental condition he wants to be 'found out' and dealt with by someone - maybe he feels he deserves his comeuppance?

He hasn't been rehabilitated and IMO the system is poorly equiped to deal with child killers (doesn't mean you should write off every child that commits a crime) - I also agree with the other member who said he should have gone to football matches etc, how else is a 10year old going to be introduced/rehabilitated back into society....its called preventative action - yeah I know, it didn't work in this case.

"He was considered, however, a model of rehabilitation when he came to be released. Lee said: "If someone said to me one of the two boys has breached his licence, I would have put my house on it being Thompson."

"The two, both 10 at the time of the murder, spent their jail sentences in separate secure units and neither entered a young offender institution or adult jail. Age 18 they were released with new names, birth certificates and national insurance numbers."
www.timesonline.co.uk...

"No child is born evil. But they are creatures of their parents and of circumstance. Children who commit violent crimes almost always share a similar background. Their parents are poorly educated, unemployed and often suffer from depression or other mental health problems; many are drug abusers or on the fringes of criminality. They often have large families but are also divorced or separated."
www.independent.co.uk...

The above also has parallels with the recent Doncaster case.

John venables has since his release from prison at 21yrs of age worked as a club doorman (thugs paradise) and has now been arested on child porn offences. His laptop has been siezed and multiple sordid kiddie porn images have been discovered leading investigators to believe he has been part of a wider internet child pornography ring.

Jack straw is expected to release a statement later today about the arrest and detention of venables. The mother of James bulger is seeking a private audience with straw later today.

What most of you do not know is that the blue paint on James bulgers face was there because they made him drink it. The iron bar which was used to bludgeon him to death was also used to sexually assault the toddler.

a couple of weeks ago the above drawing was made public. It was drawn by venables just 2 weeks before the murder of James Bulger. The drawing depicts a figure wielding 2 long knives and 2 victims with blood gushing out of their mortal bodies.

The pair of them are pure evil.

PEACE,
RK

Jack Straw has said he will not release any information concerning Venables arrest. I understand why this is seen as the right decision but i feel sorry for all of those men out there who are being accused of being Venables or Thompson and fear for their lives just because the government are keeping them under wraps. A guy called David Calvert from Fleetwood has been a victim of this abuse for years now because of people in his area believing he is Venables, hopefully all those who accused him will apologise now.

Nearly everyone I know has received a text telling them that Venables is indeed the person you have named, living in the town you have named and that he is guilty of raping a 19year old girl.
Apparently a prison guard believes this should be public knowledge.

If this person is innocent then I feel immensely sorry for the suffering he must have endured but surely if he goes public now then everyone will know he isn't Venables as he is in prison.

It was rumoured that one of them was living in my town, but I guess this rumour happened in every reasonably sized town in the UK.

The fact is that they should never have been released so early.

Hey there Freeborn ... I heard exactly the same things you have mentioned in your post, earlier today ... including the name and the rape of the 19yr old.

You have to wonder, is it all rumour or a case of no smoke without fire ?

This is why I believe the right thing should be for Jack Straw to make a statement providing accurate details to confirm/deny, so that any innocent people do not get accused and/or harmed via rumour and guesswork.

Regardless of the rights or wrongs of Venables being released and getting a new identity, if his new identity has been compromised then surely Jack Straw should act as you suggest and release details of his identity and his new crime.

At least this way any innocents who have been suspected of being him will be cleared.

Venables will have taken 45 and be segregated from the majority of the prison population and will be locked up with nonces etc.

Dad's Agony at Being Mistaken for Jon Venables

This is so dangerous and I feel so bad for this man. All he did was told a neighbour once that he went to prison when he was younger for fraud, and people had been harassing him and his family enough that the police installed a panic button in their home.

A bunch of Facebook groups and fan pages related to outing Jon Venables has been taken down sometime after yesterday. It seems like the reason was that people making the claim that David Calvert is Jon Venables was spreading like wildfires.

I wish they can get on with and finish the trial so that the truth can finally be made to the public to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.

No need to go off topic and start babbling about Iraq, this thread is not relevant to that. Reading this story makes you wander whether criminal rehabilitation is really worth it? It's a scary thought that you yourself may be in the company of a former murderer without even knowing it due to i.d cover ups. Hopefully this second time around justice will be served and Jon will be hit with a stricter sentence.

This story serves well to highlight the difference in progressiveness between nations - UK / US being incredibly backwards while northern European countries are the most progressive one earth, by miles.

At the same time of the Bulger murder the SAME thing happened in Norway - one country sought to overcome the tradgedy and correct the problem while the UK sought only revenge.

Perhaps this is something all of you on ats should read...there is an excellent documentary on it as well

I actually watched an old documentary on this recently and they had attempted to kidnap another young boy before james bulger and were heard to have said they were gonna push him under a bus.

Kids can be cruel but to have done what they did takes something to be missing from upstairs. Their parents should also carry blame for the way they raised these kids up until that age.

"The boy is father to the man"

I cant see how someone could be rehabilitated after something like that.

Slightly O/T but a teenager a few years back killed his parents in liverpool and left their bodies at home and went on a 3 month holiday around the U.S with his girlfriend, using their money.

At his hearing they said he had a disorder that caused him to suffer from narcissistic rage and thats why he had done what he did and thus was given a reduced sentence.

So basically this guy has the potential to do it again due to this disorder, but they gave him less time in jail because of it. Seriously you couldnt make it up, crazy.

I would say just think, what Bulgers mother is going through, not being told anything, or being refused any information what so ever by those whom are meant to protect the public. Once a murderer always a murderer, no amount of rehabilitation, can change anyone. If Rehabilitation was successful, they would have freed Myra Hindly years ago before she died. But she was refused release why? The public was against it.

Those two whom killed Bulger, should have never been released. The Justice/Rehabilitaion in the UK once again is a laughing stock of the world.

Sorry, but PC claptrap.

There are only vague similarities.
The maliciousness and evil intent shown by Venables and Thompson can hardly be compared with the tragic accident in Trondheim.

The primary reason for incarceration is, and must be, punishment and must be a deterrent.
It seems to me that there are far too many instances where too much time is spent on rehabilitation resulting in high levels of re-offending.

Just wondering that since Ryan Giggs was named and the super injunction issue was raised, surely now someone can release the identity of these murderous little buggers on Twitter.

I dont condone mob violence but it would be an interesting social experiment to see if the police would try and hide them again and so on and so on until they realised it was useless cos they couldnt be hidden and just left them hung out.

Should they come a cropper at the hands of some vigilante, oh well, at least they werent innocent but I dont think they would be killed anyway.

It could be quite an interesting case, come on News of the World....

As there names were changed the fellow prisoners will not know who he is. This is a good thing for him as the would kill the little swine who should have hanged for his crime.

It sickens me that any one, let alone a child could do this to someone else.

'They' blamed it on the film Childs Play which was banned in the UK for a while afterwards

Yeah God forbid they blame the parents eh?

Good to see him back inside. Guy clearly has something wrong with him. Though I doubt this "breach of parole" will keep him in for long.

Necro'd thread alert! I thought this information was a bit old, but I assumed it was the other guy.

While this is a UK justice horror story, the same kinds of things happen here in the US.

Anyone charged with the power to release people such as this back into society is as guilty of a crime as horrific as those committed by the prisoner.

Crimes such as this cross the line, and the 'normal' paths of justice should never apply to these cases. This is common sense, and the world needs to label such people as non-rehabilitatable. This trash needs to be just burned.

Yeah the real failure of rehab is that people will just pretend to be rehabilitated to get out of jail early. If someone is a convincing liar, and god knows there's enough of those out there, they can cut their jail time. It's a crazy non working solution to the problem of overpopulated jails.

Rework the system so there is a better method of dealing with non violent criminals (pot smokers/tax dodgers) imho, and then we dont have to worry about rehab, just keep the real crazies locked up for good.
