Fascist Soup reports:

In a shocking move, the US federal congress approved a measure sanctioning the use of domestic terrorism and insurrection by US citizens.

The law, which can be found in the US legal code here, makes it legal for US citizens to attack and overthrow the federal government when the government engages in these acts:

-Imposes taxes without consent

-Deprives citizens of a trial by jury

-Rendition

-Subjects US citizens to foreign jurisdiction, such as international courts and law, that do not comply with the constitution.

-Renders the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

-Erects a multitude of new offices, which create "law" through regulation.

-Cuts off trade and erects barriers to trade.

-Engages in the use of private foreign mercenaries to wage war and police the population.

And finally ignores all Petitions of public grievances.

Rep. Jefferson of Virginia was quoted as saying:

Experience shows us, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. Which is why I have given my approval of this measure.

Also, given the recent outrageous actions of congress in bailing out commercial banks, I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

Our country is now taking so steady a course as to show by what road it will pass to destruction, to wit: by consolidation of power first, and then corruption, its necessary consequence.

With this new law, we hope the people will finally put an end to this nonsense.

The law declares that “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” Which means the whole of the citizenry must consent to governments actions in order for the government to retain its legitimacy.

A recent pol l by Rasmussen Reports states that only 21% of the public feel the current federal government has the consent of the governed, which does not bode well for US federal officials. This makes the law particularly stunning, considering officials are basically demanding to have themselves removed from office by force.

Given the law, this effectively declares the US federal government to be illegitimate, akin to a banana republic.

Further, the law outlines the legitimate use of force by the public. The law declares that when the government engages in the above acts, public insurrection becomes legitimate.

when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security

Fox News's Judge Napolitano comments on the law:

I am the author of this article and it is published here, in full, with my consent. This article may be republished in full and spread liberally throughout the web. Please include a link-back to my site.

For clarification, I do not condone the use of violence, the article is satire, however I do condone a non-violent revolution to restore a constitutional republic.

Sounds good to me I think its almost time to through out the garbage and start fresh.

We need someone like Ron Paul to be our next president to restore the country and make the Federal government small like it suppose to be.

From time to time the tree of Liberty needs to shed the blood of Patriots and Tyrants.

LOL... That's funny.

Actually, we've already had the green light to stage revolution for over two centuries.

It's called the United States Constitution.

Any time the central government rises above the States and attempts to coerce and oppress the People, we have the right to rise up and drive our central government back to the depths of Hell from which it sprang.

Frankly, a little bloodletting is what this country needs to purge it of the socialist corruption at our government's core and restore a semblance of Liberty.

A Brief History of the drafting and signing of the Declaration of Independence. The speaker discusses, in some detail, the creating of 1820 the wet ink transfer of the Declaration of Independence which rendered the one and only original signed manuscript virtually illegible.

...i clicked on the "poll" link and found this at the very bottom of the article in tiny print...

This national telephone survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted by Rasmussen Reports.

...1000 voters = 21% of the public?...
...must be that new math crap...

Its actually old math crap.

Some guy came up with the term "statistical analysis" a while back and pollsters like Rasmussen have been running with it ever since.

Interesting post, though the question remains, are we Americans or are we Europeans? For my ownself, am a citizen of the United States of American, an American. Looking back at revolutions and civil wars past, the question must remain, this, are we a society that can forgive and accept different ideas to create a better nation, or do we descend down into violence and thus join with all other nations who have had revolutions and civil wars, where you end up with brother fighting brother?
Do not point to the Declaration of Independence as a document for legalizing violent action against the government. When we were engaged with breaking away from England, that document was needed for the following reasons, one being in accordence with european customs and laws, to declare why an illegale action was legale, and the founding fathers needed all of the help of the other European powers such as France, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Netherland, Russia, and Italy, for assistence in that endevor. The main law of the land has to be the Constitution of the United States of America, as it is the what the founders of the country had envisioned for how the country was to run, based off of what they saw as the failings and sucesses of the European countries.
If there is going to be a change in the government, do it with the vote, not with violence.

Very interesting, and it appears the checklist has been met. However, as long as people's bellies are full with bread, and the circuses are in full affect, people are not going to notice what many on here have discovered. Looking back at what led to the Revolution, it was really about money and it dealt with taxation. Apparently, the colonists thought Parliament was a little overbearing with all the taxes placed upon them to pay for the French and Indian Wars?

Now, if the Parliament in Great Britain was a little more reasonable with the taxes and allowed a reasonable voice in that governing body by the colonists, history might have been different? However, Great Britain was saddled with a debt in those days equivalent to what the US faces today. The government had no choice, but to raise taxes on British subjects and the colonists were members of that group. Then, as is similar today, the colonials were in uncertain economic times. It all began with The Sugar Act of 1764.

The Sugar Act was passed by Parliament on April 5, 1764,[1] and it arrived in the colonies at a time of economic depression. It was an indirect tax, although the colonists were well informed of its presence. A good part of the reason was that a significant portion of the colonial economy during the Seven Years War was involved with supplying food and supplies to the British Army. Colonials, however, especially those affected directly as merchants and shippers, assumed that the highly visible new tax program was the major culprit. As protests against the Sugar Act developed, it was the economic impact rather than the constitutional issue of taxation without representation that was the main focus for the Americans.

en.wikipedia.org...

Now, much like then, when our government raises taxes which they will do as Great Britain did some 200 years ago; that is when things will get testy. You can't get blood from a stone. We are in a depression as our forefathers where then. Cut and dry, it was the long-arm of the taxman shaking down our forefathers during an economic crisis which caused the break from Great Britain, and followed by the concept of taxation without representation. Looking at the current economic situation, with the government saddled with astronomical debt on its books, and an itch to raise taxes during an economic crisis, it is as though history is repeating itself. Those trillion dollar expenditures are going to have to be payed for sometime.

Anything can happen, however, what will come out of the ashes? Will the situation be worse than it is now? What will happen to that fragile yet powerful document, the Constitution? Will it be lost in the fray, to be reminisced about by the people left in its wake? The concept being discussed here is a dangerous unknown. It is not as romantic as many make it out to be.

Apparently, it is mentioned in our rights to take up such action if disenfranchisement is to occur at the hands of those tasked with governing and legislating. However, as seen throughout history it will be a bloodbath fraught with unspeakable suffering for all those involved. Power is never given up without a fight. What monster will show its ugly face out of the ashes: totalitarianism, despotism, mob rule, or tyranny?

Perhaps, compiling a list of grievances to be signed and approved by every state in the Union and delivered to the Federal Government is in order? Or establishing a nationwide referendum to encourage change, accompanied by an amendment to the Constitution as is needed to do it. Maybe, a call for a state ratified confidence vote in governance at the Federal level? If it shows unfavorable for the current individuals holding office, then an election should be called and held for new candidates. Those are some ideas on how to bring about reconciliation through peaceful democratic means.

Yes PEACE!

Peaceful revolution managed to remove King George from our shores and grant us independence!

Peaceful revolution helped the French to secure liberty!

The Greek revolution of peace managed to free them from the Ottomans!

The Cuban revolution, can't forget how the government just stepped aside!

Or how about the minor revolutions! Remember when the people revolted against Vietnam! It only took the government 3 years and thousands of deaths later to listen!

Remember when the people peacefully revolted against WWI? It only took the government a couple of months to stage an incident to overthrow that opinion.

Same for WWII! Good stuff!

Yes, peaceful revolution has been the method of change for millennias past. As long as we sit here and yell while they are putting us in cages, they will stop. Eventually. You know... once we are all locked up.

I love how people are only keen to acknowledge only bits and pieces of history, but would rather ignore the parts that make them feel funny - like the fact that it took sacrificing millions of lives to have what we have today. The simple fact is that people today are unwilling to make that sacrifice and thus the thought is completely distilled from their minds.

People keep saying that peacful revolution will accomplish something, but do you believe that federal agents will be peacefull to the people?
They will shoot people dead that are threatening a takeover even if those people are doing it peacfully, just wait and see.....

Go in peacfully, but be prepared to defend your life with deadly force when you are in imminent danger of losing it.
