Microsoft and CEOP team up on customised IE8

rss.feedsportal.com
Microsoft has launched a special version of IE8 along with the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre that offers embedded advice, help and report services.
Customised browsers are far from uncommon, but the laudable efforts of CEOP on the internet makes Microsoft's latest effort worth consideration.
The CEOP-customised IE8 browser has a 'clear and direct' route to CEOP with a special button and is available from www.clickceop.net/ie8.
Jim Gamble CEO of CEOP said: "Internet safety advice needs to be at your fingertips and not hidden away. Parents and children should not have

From the article this is not an mandatory update or even a update at all. It's a special build you can download from www.clickceop.net/ie8.

I for one will not be downloading it. Heck I don't even use ie8

I cant stand all these excuses all these parents are making. example "if your child is not in you line of site" bla bla. Sure children are going to sneak around. Why make it easy. Move the computer out of the computer room and into the living room and put into your line of site. All of you excuse making parent are the first to scream foul play when its your children playing the roll of instigator. Get off easy blame the other person. Step up and start taking responsibility.

Uh, yeah, because it's SO EASY to know exactly what they're up to at all times and since your children are stupid there is no possible way they could know how to hide their online activity.

A good parent always knows what there children are up to at all times.

They don't have to hide on-line activity if you use procedures that are out there that blocks access to some things. Even if they can block activity you as a parent should be smart enough to find out what they are doing, even blocked Internet activity is traceable. YOU just have to be a smarter parent.

Oh And BTW: I really hope you were not being a "Donkey" and calling my children stupid.

Uh, no I wasn't calling your children stupid - that was called sarcasm. But I do think you are WAY out of touch. For example, your quote:

"Blah....How about you watch your children or even better don't let them use the net for scandalous behavior."

It's just that easy huh? You might as well say "Just don't let your kids drink and drive" or "Just don't let your kids be bullies at school" or "Just don't let your kids misbehave at all".

I'm saying there's no possible way you can know everything they are doing at all times and you should never assume that your kids don't know how to hide their tracks online. Services like the one Microsoft is offering is attempting to help with the problem and here you are criticizing them for it.

I dunno, maybe you're just a Microsoft hater.

I'm not a parent, I'm 17...Im just finishing being the child...

So no I am not making any excuses for myself, I am telling the truth. As soon as you can't see your child they will find a way to do wahtever it is they want on a computer.

So you move the computer into the living room....what about when you are at work and your child gets home from school? What about when you are out? What about when you are asleep? These are all great times for a child to get on the computer, and all methods I myself have used.
