No witnesses. I had gone in to kitchen to pour a glass of water. As soon as I turned the tap off I became aware of the noise. My first thaught was that it must be Thunder

maybe it was the pipes in your house.?..?..?

No, wasn't the plumbing. The noise was coming from the sky. It was tailing off by the time I opened the window. As I already said, I have sound proofing, so for it to sound so powerful with the window closed was errie.

misterE has a thread on similar noises, and there is another thread too called Strange Rumbling.

Right, at precisely 2am (6 mins ago) I heard a loud noise again, after the last time missing whatever it was i decided to get up and stick my head out my window..
So judging by speed and sound it was a plane, it flew directly over my house quite low and it was very loud, the only thing that seemed out of place where the lights, instead of having red and white lights on the wings all it had where 2 bright red flashing lights running along the under belly flashing one at a time..

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Possibilities:
1. Secret military aircraft
2. Aliens UFO
3. You imagined
4. normal plane
5. inconclusive as of right now

Thanks for the reply

I know for a fact I didn't imagine this and i'm gonna cross out Aliens/ UFO as the speed and sound was like a plane but a hell of alot louder, It was the lights on the under belly which was very strange. I see many planes going over my house quite low. I'm gonna go for military, has to be..
I hate things like this, i'm far to paranoid for things like this too happen and not knowing what it is. It's the effect ATS has on me aha

This is very interesting. Two Nights ago (Saturday) I heard Thunder on a clear night, but I live in a coastal area and it is not unusual for their to be small storm cells out of my sight so I didn't give it a second thought. Later on the evening news the weatherman was talking about the clear air and low humidity, but a chance for storms the next day, the anchor person said, "Yes I heard that thunder this evening," and the weatherman said, "That was not thunder! I heard it as well, it was very interesting, but it definitely was not thunder and I don't know what it was!"

It became even more interesting as the newscast dragged on, because they would not let it go. For the next 30 minutes, the sports guy, both anchors, and the weatherman all talked about hearing this mysterious loud rumbling sound and it became the center of the entire newscast!

Very odd??

Edit to add......last night I was decorating for Christmas and my two boys were helping me. I heard a humming noise that was oddly consistent and very slow moving, my 2 yr old started saying, "airplane, airplane" and I laughed at him and agreed, but I was thinking it must be a very low helicopter. After it stopped, my father came inside and said he had just seen the oddest, slow moving airplane he had ever seen! He quickly jotted down a drawing of it, and it was identical to the triangular craft drawings we see on this site all the time!! Perfect Triangle, 3 round lights (one at each corner) 2 of them were the same color and 1 was a little different. It basically "hovered" near our home only slightly moving back and forth as if "scanning" the ground, and then it took off quickly (not UFO unreal quickly, but much quicker than a helicopter would.)

Very odd!

every ufo enthuisiast should get an SLR digital camera. no more blurry out of focus dots.

i think most normal digital cameras are crap, it take like 10 seconds to take a picture. first it has to focus wich takes ages, and then when you press it, it takes about 2 seconds before the picture is taken

This thread made me sign up to the site. I heard noises today in Preston (Lancashire). Like an engine in the sky, although it was night, I would be able to tell if it was a plane, it wasn't a constant noise like a jet engine.
It was almost like it was being switched on and off, and coming from the sky.

Was walking back from Uni today and saw a low flying plane. It was the lowest plane i have ever seen of its size. I'd easily class it as a passenger aircraft. It was being escorted by a smaller jet plane. I've been hearing a lot about apparent barium spraying that has taken place in scenarios like this. The noise was pretty much the same as I heard yesterday.

Since seeing it, we have heard the noise on and off.

Iv'e been thinking about this quite alot and i think what i saw was a chinook helicopter, would explain the odd lights and noise being so low.

In a neighbouring town (about 5 miles away) i've seen 3 chinooks fly over in formation in broad daylight, what one is doing at 2 in the morning is anyones guess, training exercize maybe..

Sorry i disappeared over Christmas everyone. Happy New Year to you all.
I had began this thread, because my friend had heard the noises in the middle of the night. He is sound body, mind and soul and not prone to notice anything out of the ordinanary or paranormal.
He couldn't contain himself when trying to explain the noises to me. I only live a few miles down the road and i never heard anything on this particular night. He was adament it was coming from above his house. I reassured him that i would look into it for him and i thought the best place to ask was on here.
I myself suffer sleep paralysis, so i'm used to the weird and wonderful strangeness of my life.

Mmm. Not noises but on new years eve there were two massive flashes outside my house... like lightning, bluish. I really don't think they were fireworks either (our dog is terrified of loud noises - the second he hears one he goes into meltdown and he was fine. He can hear fireworks from miles away and as soon as he doesn he starts shaking and losing it.) Plus the flashes lit up the entire room.

It was like lightning, but it was snowing at the time so we sort of assumed it couldn't be.

Unless theres crazy new fireworks that light the whole sky up with a bluey white light and yet produce no noise I have no idea what this was...

Anyone got any ideas?

we had the thunderstorm and lightening flashes in that period of snow too, just before xmas. I live in Kent, England.
I just wish to say thank you to everyone for your input on this subject. My friend lives in quite a selubrius area and i know he hasn't spoken to his neighbours about the strange noises in the sky that night...purely becasue he never sees anyone to speak to. It's not the sort of Avenue that you can just go knocking on the doors.

My wife amd I heard what I would decribe as a loud vaccum cleaner while outside today at 11.20. We were not near any houses as we had gone walkabout in the countryside to get some photographs.

It was loud and difficult to pin down as far as location is concerned. We both past comment on it, had a look up but saw nothing. It was strange enough for my anti conspiracy wife to flag it up with a " What the *** is that"? ...also rare for her to use expletives, it kind of added to the surreal situation.

Anyway, it lasted for approx 6 minutes. Dont have a clue what it was.

Respects

I have seen loads of unexplained things in the sky. That's why my friend told me, hoping i could make some sense of it all.
One of the weirdest was driving home one night a blue flash of horizonatal light shot across the sky. It was like the top of a table, but was silent.
My friend who was driving that night and a bit of a know all couldn't work it out. It wasn't from this earth, that's for sure! It was like the trail of the star ship enterprise. It was huge and for a few seconds lit up the sky.
I think i have mentioned about it in on here before?
Again this was in Kent.

I'm in the UK as well and a few nights ago (at about 00:30) I heard some odd fizzing noises coming from the sky. I went over to my window and the boy next door was looking up at the sky as well. I didn't see a thing but the fizzing went on.
