Good luck getting an answer. I have yet to hear anyone say how this can be paid for in any way that makes sense. Medicare is screwed. Medicaid is screwed. Social Security is screwed. I think Liberal really believed there is a Golden Goose at the end of the Bean Stalk. Calling Jack, Paging Jack!

No,
They knew it would never work.

They just did the same thing that married people do when they want a divorce. They destroy everything they have out of spite for one another.

I detect sarcasm from the OP. The give away was the crack about Fox being fair and balanced. You people fell for it with. It's a sad day for ATS peeps when members would comment on a complete lie without even checking the facts.

I looked all over the GAO website and found no such report.

I tried to google Glen Beck claims 20 trillion and the ONLY mention anywhere on the net is THIS thread.

Access to adequate affordable health care insurance is a matter of conscience. To try and deny your fellow Americans and children in this country insurance that from a non profit institution just to claim a political "win" is immoral. Health care is not about Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Congress, the Senate, or insurance companies. It's about getting to see a doctor or not. Everyone deserves to go to the doctor without cost being a factor. Dems, Repubs, blacks, whites, old, young, EVERYONE!

Let's get this reform passed then tackle hunger.

The reason people don't have health insurance for lack of a law making them buy it. The copays will still suck, rescission will still be a problem. I'm for health care, but this bill mandates buying health insurance, which is in no reasonable way equal to health care.

Show me a real health care bill that covers everyone. This is a bureaucratic mess.

That is why we desperately need the public option to be in the bill. Without it mandates would be a insurance company jackpot.

Seiko please do some more research on the subject. I left plenty of links. I am sure some more info will help you with your reservations. I know the bill has some good and some bad. I guess it's the best our corrupt congress can do with their balls in the lobbyist's hands. Maybe a future congress can patch the holes later, but pass something so we can save those 45,000 that die each year due to lack of coverage. www.harvardscience.harvard.edu... There is your population reduction conspiracy!

I have done research, and I'm telling you this bill is a give away. The mandate is an insult to us.

Until we can understand that health insurance does not mean you have health care they'll continue to play us. They are playing on our fears and passing a nightmare.

If everything they wanted passed, people will still die. People will still not be covered. People will still lose their insurance. They'll have to wait to even try at the public option, if that passes.

I'm telling you this is a conjob, all their doing is making us buy a product we've been saying doesn't work.

The worst part of all of it, is how much it's going to cost. I realize this thread was exaggerated, but it's going to cost us a lot. When all is said and done, and we've paid for it, we'll still be left with crappy insurance. Insurance we can't drop, because we'll be required by law to carry it.

I continue to fight for real health care.

I maintain again, this is not socialist, this is fascist. This is insane and they're playing us like fools.

Sad thing is, it didn't start out as a mess. It was a pretty simple bill. But in the fact of mindless opposition from Republicans, conservatives "democrats", and the insurance companies that have this party and a half tucked into their pockets, you're going to get screwed.

But at least the godless commies aren't going to be the ones shoving it up your bowels, right?

Godless commies.....o...man...

It's so hard to even debate policies when they warp the language so bad isn't it? that's why I jumped in this thread, because I saw the word socialist being brandied about so carelessly.

The insurance companies being part of it was the death. When the administration invites the pharmaceutical industry in to the oval office to weigh in....This was never about us.

Who is being denied healthcare? Illegals? Poor people have Medicaid. The elderly have Medicare. Children are covered by the state until at least 18. Collage kids are covered by their parents' insurance, or very cheap insurance through their school. There is alumni insurance for college graduates. Most people who have real jobs are covered by their employers, or should make enough to buy coverage- if they want it. Even most Walmart employees have health insurance programs.

By the way, insurance companies on average make sub-4% profits-

This thread is a joke, right?

Would you care to provide a source for this information? I searched and came up empty.

Also, fun fact:

The US currently spends more than trillion a year on healthcare anyway.

In 2007, the U.S. spent $2.26 trillion on health care, or $7,439 per person, up from $2.1 trillion, or $7,026 per capita, the previous year.

Next time Glenn Beck tries to drum up a little fear, it would be wise to pay attention to the facts. People like him have very distinct strategies, they take non-sequential, unimportant facts and distort them, then pronounce them in such a manner as if it's the end of the world. People who don't pay attention buy it hook-line-sinker, and then we end up with the rabble clamoring for the guillotines.
