Whew!! We can all relax a bit now. It was on the BBC, they said the recession is over and so must be true.
That's good really, because I've had my eye on this absolutely gorgeous porcelain serving bowl for fried noodles...

THINK ABOUT IT: All the information we get is via the media, the news that "we are heading into recession" and also the news "we are in recovery". I don't buy any of it, there is no recession or recovery for those above the system WE are living in here. We are being manipulated by those ABOVE this system folks! Get it?
I know most here will know this, and some will be very well informed, but really just stop and think about it for a moment. We are being played for suckers. There is no economic up / down etc. because the economic stuff is one part of the game.

TIME TO WAKE UP AND STOP PLAYING THERE GAME. START LIVING OUR OWN LIVES.
....Any advice how to go about this???

Remember they dropped 1.5 trillion dollars into the economy, of course their will be an influx..

If you think this is over, I'll assume you are new to this website and economics 101.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The economy grew last quarter for the first time in more than a year. The recession is over.

Wow, that is such great news. The recession is over! Man I’m excited. That was a close one. I thought we where screwed. Now all we need to do is start hiring so people can start spending money. Who's first? Wait.....what did you say?..........

Federal support for spending on cars and homes drove the economy up 3.5 percent from July through September. But the government aid -- from tax credits for home buyers to rebates for auto purchases -- is only temporary. Consumer spending, which normally drives recoveries, is likely to weaken without it. If shoppers retrench in the face of rising joblessness and tight credit, the fragile recovery could tip back into recession.

Oh crap, you mean the government giving away all that money that created record debt and is causing the dollar to fail was the real reason we had positive growth?.......Well that means we are not really...............Damn......

GDP grow is a fake indicator in my book since all you need to make the GDP grow is government spending.

So if the GDP growed 3.5%/14.4 trillion, that equals around 0.5 trillion...meaning if the US government wouldn't have spent the trillions they have, the ``real GDP`` would still be falling.

If we say the GDP is growing, then, we can say that China's GDP is growing, since most of the China GDP is in fact government spending...

What kind of GDP do we want? The people's GDP... or the government's GDP?

I saw this on AOL, and money.aol.com, and i can tell you one thing, I DONT BUY IT!

with the bailouts and the govt help with the economy makes me think this is going to be a one time thing.

this is just manipulation, give false hope on a synthetic market, will just sucker more people in...

(sigh...)

I am so excited by this great news! The economy is growing. Inflation is at a negative rate. Wow! I am reaping big benefits from all this flurry of economic recovery! My dollar goes farther now! Oh, and the price of natural gas is going to drop this winter, too! Huh? My gas company just requested an increase in price for the gas they sell me? WTF? Somebody clue them in on this recovery and drop in price. Also, somebody please inform those that sell me food, clothing, gasoline, meds, etc. that they don't need to keep on raising their prices. Meanwhile in my town there was a job opening for a clerk in an office. The job is temporary. 80 people applied for this job. Some applicants were willing to relocate for this temporary job that pays 10 dollars/hour. I fail to see any recovery. Am I just too stupid to understand simple economics? Maybe, since I am a public college educated accountant.

I've alreaďy expressed my feelings on this errrr..... news.... but I would like to point out:

You need TWO consecutive quarters of positive economic growth to be out of a recession.

No doubt. I've been looking for one for a while. As soon as jobs start becoming readily available, I'll jump on the bandwagon and celebrate the end of the recession.

Until then? I'll keep my food stockpiled.

I heard (for real here) that a good indication of economic growth was over the sales of men's underwear. (I'm being serious, I really am
) I remember the explanation made sense. Something along the line that since women do most of the typical shopping, men's underwear are the last thing on their shopping lists. So, if they have money left over, then they'll splurge on underwear for their man.

So, I guess the men once again suffer for a woman. I being a woman, of course, love it!

Maybe there really is some growth. Is that a good thing, really? You can't have growth, without using up resources. Growing for the sake of growth is nothing more than how cancer cells function. Most living things stop growing and just maintain.

I for one would be just fine with our economy functioning properly, maintaining a steady state, neither growing nor shrinking. What is the point of never-ending growth? It's not something that can be sustained. The bubble always bursts, taking millions - or billions - of people down with it.

So even if the economy really is growing, you have to wonder, at whose expense? Who's suffering, so we can continue to grab more? Who are robbing, whose labor are we stealing? And if you don't care about those others, then still ask yourself: How long can this last? The bubble's always going to burst. This is no way to live.

Don't feel bad, for people that are making about that much or a littler bit more, life is not any better, taxes in that bracket is sucking the life out of the hard working America that once upon a time were considered "better off".

You have not idea how bad it is for people that make just a litter bit more this days, but no enough more than those in the considered upper classes.

You are very much right, but that should not take into consideration the manipulations of cash influx into the markets with bail out money that has to be pay back by the tax payers in the nation.

There can & will be NO recovery without creating more jobs...THE END!

Obama's "Green jobs" where are they and as far as putting people back to work rebuilding our infrastructure, while it is a good thing it simply cannot create enough jobs and will only help a small percentage of people as not everyone is a bridge builder/hwy worker.

We simply have got to bring manufacturing back no matter what it takes and cut off most of the imports. The only growth I've seen im my area is casinos and more shopping malls/stores that sell goods produced abroad...yes it does put people back to work but not enough to make a difference. We don't need anymore places to spend american dollars on goods produced over seas we need to be a nation of producers again otherwise our economy will NEVER recover.

The Dow is already down 244 points today. HAHA LOL! This is hilarious. Yesterday it went up almost 200 and that was because of GDP. But today it's down because a small blip in consumer confidence. The stock market is a joke. Why anyone invests in it anymore or at this stage is beyond me.

No offense, but it isn't so much a grand scheme as it is greed and stupidity. The MSM, in my opinion, isn't under any particular control, it is just controlled by greed and the fact that there are no journalists any longer just jerks parroting what the 'experts' say.

IMHO

Yeah I love how the "Wall Street Experts" jumped all over this number when all it was due to Govt. spending. No one would have bought so many cars in such an economy if it wasn't for the Govt rebates, same for the 1st time homebuyer credit.

How many people here can claim a job due to the Stimulus.

My favorite stimulus story is from a business owner I know. The road crews in front of his place were redoing the dirt shoulder. When he asked them why they were doing that as it looked fine, they replied that they were taking the dirt from the north side and moving to the south side then taking that dirt back to the north side. They admitted that the "work" didn't need to be done but they got the contract for the work so they had to make it look like they were doing work. Your Tax dollars at work.......

Most of the stimulus road projects I have seen haven't been really necessary, the roads were in adequate condition, but they ripped them up anyway. Putting new lights on a road or landscaping a highway for examples.
