Ok so this is in the UFO section because to me its unidentified, im not calling it alien.

So a couple of minutes ago i was in my garden looked up and saw one huge and i mean huge massive plane/jet thing!

In front was a smaller object and i could hear that engine of the small plane but the big thing didnt make a sound!

When i saw massive i mean massive! It had 4 wings, 2 big ones and two smaller ones and it made no sound at all!
In front was a small object/plane.

This was the biggest flying craft i have ever seen, think concord but shaped like a harrier, and it made no noise what so ever.

And it was on because i saw fumes coming out the engine!

What sort of jet is this!?
Oh and it wasnt going very fast at all.
And sorry no pics

You may want to post this in the Aircraft Projects. There are some incredibly knowledgeable people in there that can usually identify any aircraft.

Could you do a sketch and post it here?

It does seem strange, especially as you could not hear it.

Edit to add

Where are abouts are you in the UK?

If it was some type of glider then that might explain the size of it, the extra wings, the speed and the lack of sound.

Also this might explain why it has a smaller craft in front...gliders get pulled by smaller craft to get going.

Sounds like the Nuclear powered bomber that they said they scrapped. It looks like that and the fumes would be the heat from the exhaust. I hope they are not flying it around.

Yeh! thats it! It was black though and slow for a jet, and made no noise. So are these bombers notorious? and why is it over the uk?

What type of plane was the smaller plane? was it a jet or propeller driven?

Propellar because i could hear it whinning. The bigger plane really made it look tiny.

Hmm.. im still included to think this might have been some kind of glider. Hopefully some of the experts in this forum may be able to shed some more light on the matter. Good luck

I would say a Rockwell B-1 Bomber, but when I have seen them they make a hell of a noise.

I doubt even a nuclear powered bomber is silent. Even though you are sure it wasnt a glider you have to admit it was moving at glider speed if it was following a propeller driven aircraft. Im not sure what lights a glider is required to have in the UK though. Maybe someone here knows.

Richard Bransons rocket plane / glider maybe?

I was thinking about the possibility of a B-1. It has a VG swept wing design like the Tomcat so that could explain how it resembled a Concorde... also it has extremely small stabilizer wings towards the front of the fuselage. The object in front... and escort fighter perhaps? B-1's are massive in size...

Concorde but shaped like a Harrier? Umm ok. What part of UK are you from? Please draw a sketch.

That plane doesn't actually exist.

I doubt even a nuclear powered bomber is silent

A Nuclear aircraft merely substitutes burning fuel for reactor heat. Of course it will make noise, however no nuclear powered aircraft exist.

Even though you are sure it wasnt a glider you have to admit it was moving at glider speed if it was following a propeller driven aircraft.

Aircraft can vary speed, quiet significantly. Turboprop aircraft do not typically fly at glider airspeeds - most would fall out of the sky if they attempted to.
