Some Islamists to join Somali govt - minister

www.reuters.com

MOGADISHU, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Somalia's government is negotiating with Islamist insurgents and has persuaded some of them to join its administration, the foreign minister said on Saturday.

Somalia's U.N.-backed administration is facing a stubborn insurgency by Islamist rebels, including foreign militants who Western security agencies say use the Horn of Africa nation as a safe haven to plot attacks in the region and beyond.

"Some al Shabaab and Hizbul Islam (members) have joined our government," Foreign Minister Ali Jama Jangili told reporters in Mogadishu. "We are negotiating with

I should know better by now than to post any news coming out of Somalia, but I cannot help myself.

I'm playing the angle that the TFG, Hizbul Islam and Al Shabaab are the three parts that made up the ICU that ruled in Somalia for 6 months 3 years ago. They are not different organizations.

For reason's known only to the the culprits it was decided to make it appear as though a unresolvable conflict exists in this place and no stable government can exist. As this plot is exposed and the young men on the ground realize what is happening the conflict will evaportate like morning dew in the noontime heat and the enemy will simply disappear.

They don't even have to break a sweat to win this war.

Al Shabaab militants have taken the control of the western part of Beledweyn town in Hiran region, witnesses said Sunday. Residents said the militants armed with battle wagons seized Hawlwadag neighborhood in the west side of town, where they used to control before their ouster. Somalia's Al Shabaab militia say they have recaptured a key town in battle with pro-government forces, leaving 13 people killed and many others wounded. Al Shabaab guerrillas claim to have retaken control of the key Somali town of Beledweyne in the central Somali region of Hiiran where a large military base sheltering pro-government troops was located. At least nine government soldiers and four Al Shabaab insurgents have been killed in the ongoing fierce fighting initiated by the anti-government fighters in the surprise pre-dawn attack, a Press TV correspondent reported. Al Shabaab group has also reportedly seized a number of soldiers at the base and injured scores of others during the nocturnal raid. At least six civilians were killed and 18 others wounded in clashes that erupted when insurgents attacked government and African Union forces in Mogadishu, witnesses and medics said Sunday. The clashes broke out late Saturday, moments after the embattled Somali transitional federal government's foreign minister announced that his administration was engaged in direct contacts with the rebels. The worst incident occurred overnight when a mortar shell smashed through a house, killing five members of the same family, several of them children, residents said.

your theory is flawed, the somali's have been fightig themselves for years and years now, it makes no difference to them... even if the 7 ICU factions are all the same, there is still puntland and somaliland to conquer before all of somalia is under control of one governemnt. but they are not the same, the TFG defected to the west basically.. they are now hopefuls and puppets to our whims and woes, they control absolutely nothing...

Al Shabaab claimed...residents said...do you actually see that this is a media driven war and that no actual territory is changing hands? They are taking and losing and re-taking the same things over and over again.

Furthermore...isn't this the same region where the Governor said he was pissed about the Ethiopian troops and wouldn't support the TFG?

and isn't your text from like 4 days ago?

This whole thing is a production that wants to hide the only plausible ending. Al Shabaab and Hizbul Islam falling into place as productive members of the Somali community and the unification of the State under the TFG.
