When did Green Issues become Black Issues?

When did Climate Change become a race issue? It seems that the President and his green jobs advisory believe that environmentalism and racial justice are somehow related.

Personal disclosure: I believe that the Earth is experiencing man-made global warming. Call me any names you wish, but I agree with Mr. Gore and that as a people, we need to make changes in order to preserve the planet for ourselves and our children. However, as with any good idea, this too has been hijacked by people who want to use it as an excuse to push forward some radical policy.

So back to the topic. Mr. Obama and his cohort Mr. Van Jones have decided that they will achieve their socialist, black nationalist, redistribution of wealth agenda by using the climate crisis as a cover.

First listen to Mr. Jones talk about the civil rights movement of the 50's and 60's. Notice how he say that a major goal would have been to accomplish reparations and redistribution of ALL wealth while talking about how the "green economy" will be used to accomplish these so called goals of social justice.

Here listen to Mr. Jones speak about how the green economy will be designed to help the African American community. He even talks about solar powered boom boxes. This video comes from Mr. Jones' organization the Ella Baker Center.



Now watch this video from of all places the Weather channel. Mr. Jones states that this environmental issues are akin to apartheid. (Video at 1:59) He compares environmental issues to the Civil Rights Movement (Video at 4:00), and he calls our current economy - i.e. capitalism, a pollution and poison based economy (Video at 4:30).



Finally, here is a clip of our dear leader, Mr. Obama discussing the failures of the Civil Rights movement not achieving redistribution of wealth.



So, in my opinion, we have a real climate problem; however, our President has chosen to ignore the real issue and use this issue to promote his communist, black nationalist agenda of redistribution and reparations for slavery.

Mr. Obama, I am sorry that your people were oppressed by slavery in this country, but we have come a long way. After all, we elected you, an African American to the White House. Maybe its time to put the past behind you and focus on the present and the future.

The reason why the climate issue has become a race issue, is because people like Van Jones, refuses to let the past be the past and look towards a more positive future.
It is not doing President Obama any credit to his character to have people like Van Jones around, cause now people are looking and thinking, wait a minute, if we are to judge him, the President of the United States, by the company he is keeping and most of these people are racist in nature, what does that say about the man who is sitting at President of the United States?
Myself, I have grown up as an American by parents from different walks of life. I was raised that you do not look at the color of the skin, but at the individual and what he or she can do, and not to comdem the entire because of their actions.

there in my opinion, but I can't agree with you more on the other issues you've described. It's not even subtle. Blatent disregard for any issue but their own.

Racism sells. If you are against Obama you are a racist, now if you are against Government profits from mythical global warming you are also a racist.

Obama does not have an ounce of slave blood in his body. Are you suggesting that all black people came from a slavery background? Racist much? For all we know Obama ancestors may have sold people into slavery from Africa.

Bringing any issue down to a difference in race,is pure simple mindedness. Race seems to only be an issue for thoes that have an adgenda to push,that can't stand on its own merits. They have to fall back on the old stand by. Pushing people to believe all the country's problems are rooted in racial equality.
The ability to tie seperate issues together,and rally people around old wounds,comes straight out of the activists play book.

How can you rightly say his people??? Obama is the son of a Kenyan He has nothing in common with those who are actually descended from slaves!

It’s cool for us to disagree about the global warming issue... I recognize that there are a lot of natural explanations that are also plausible like solar activity, natural cycles in the earth's history, etc...

But, for Obama and his advisors to make this issue a race issue, it completely takes away any credibility that the issue might have had. We could debate the truth and science of global warming all day, but to make it the vehicle to promote redistribution of wealth and so called "social justice" turns this into a stupid political game.

Green jobs should go to any man or woman, irrespective of race, creed or color who is qualified for the job. This is not an opportunity to take wealth via taxation and redistribute it to minorities by focusing on job creation just for them.

I know that Obama's African roots are from his father who came from a politically connect Kenyan family. I also believe that Obama was born in Kenya, and that he has absolutely no connection to African-Americans whose ancestors were slaves.

However, Obama seems to believe that he identifies with the aforementioned African-Americans as evidenced by his comments on the failure to redistribute the wealth during the original civil rights movement in the 60's by going to the Courts in the above youtude vid I embedded in my original post.

Look at the people he surrounds himself with; Rev. Wright (God Damb America!), Van Jones (Mr. Reparations via the Green Economy), and last but not least... Michelle Obama (For the first time she is proud of her country).

See my response above. The selling Africans into slavery idea is a wild one. Imagine someone found some type of proof that the Obama family helped round up members of competing tribes and sold them into slavery. That would be the ultimate irony.

I don't believe in global warming, but I do believe in treating our environment with respect.


I am tired of hearing guys like him trying to make every issue a race issue.
Either we take care of all Americans or we take care of no Americans. IMO, there is no in between or reason why one race should have a cleaner life than another. We are all Americans regardless of race.

All this talk about white this and black this is getting sickening.

I think that all this racial stuff will reach a boiling point by the time the mid-term elections come. Between commenting on the Harvard Professor issue, the Sotomayor Fire Fighter case controversy, the Cairo speech, all this Van Jones stuff, and I am sure many more examples that are on the horizon, the American voter will seek to curtail this agenda through voting a wave of republicans into congress and the senate.

I'm not saying that Republicans are necessarily the answer, but the Democratic Party as it is currently formulated is way to far to the left, and even though I am sure there is plenty of racism around, I think most Americans are past it.

Van Jones is not making this a racial issue. He's making it a social justice issue.

He's not lying. The stats speak for themselves. Minorities and poorer people in general are affected most by poor environmental standards and practices. Whether you're a black person that gets asthma from living in an industrial part of a major city, or a white person living in West Virginia that no longer has clean drinking water due to mountain top removal mining, the results are going to be the same.

I don't understand how anyone can be opposed to making energy production and manufacturing cleaner and more efficient and in the process, address major societal inequities.

You can rant and rave about it being "socialism" or "communism", but the fact is that the current economic order has FAILED miserably. It's made it worse.

Van Jones is not calling for a "dictatorship of the black proletariat", but rather for some long-term rational social planning that addresses key environmental and socio-economic problems.

The corporate behemoths are holding back the possibilities of clean LIMITLESS energy because they know they will not be able to bend us over every time we drive to work, use a computer, or turn on a lightbulb.
