I knew that the US military would use a boat-load of oil, but that is just astounding. If all the worlds military just shut down shop, we would fix
the environmental concerns, budget concerns, and..... who am I kidding... it's nice to dream.
It gives credence to why they wouldn't want oil to dissipate. All that equipment would be rendered useless and would make the worlds superpower
nothing more than a few boots on the ground.

I find it Interesting that their fuel budget listed in the article was over 12 Billion for 2007. That would rate on it's own 19th in the world for
military expenditure budgets.

Over 14 million Gallons a day..... almost 22 Olympic sized swimming pools... or enough to fill a hole 1100 meters long, 550 meters wide and 44 meters
deep(for the imperials 3600 ft x 1800 ft x 143 ft) or the size of a small lake....
and that's per-day.

Thank you! I've been saying this since we invaded Iraq. You want
to solve the oil crisis? slow global warming? Bring the troops
home, fCs.
Wars and occupations are incredibly expensive and
oil use intensive. I realize you need to use a certain amount for
air surveillance, training and such but my god the Pentagon acts
like they have all the money in the world (well, maybe they do).
I HATE paying for wars as a taxpayer. I am guilty by association
of murder and the illegal occupation of foreign nations. Don't
drop any bombs in my name please!
Eisenhower warned us but we all got too cozy and comfortable
and sank into our recliners and gave our brains to the TV god
and our bodies to the beer companies. So be it. We've gotten
what we deserved and now it's time to pay the piper. Funny thing
is I never thought the piper would be playing Chinese music.

Its also of note that the US spends more on its military than EVERY OTHER NATION ON EARTH COMBINED. That's a pretty amazing stat: A single nation
with 5% of the population controling over 50% of global military spending. I'm too lazy to look for the link but I'm pretty sure these stats are
legit.
