A few things before I start this thread.
=================================================
1) This is not an intro, and I am not a new member, originally joined in 2006 but I have been gone for a while and lost my password, so on and so forth.

2)This has nothing to do with anything crazy or spooky, nor am I looking for any labels (unless there is an actual medical term).

3)I have nothing to prove to anyone, I rarely argue in real life, and I definitely won't on an internet forum as I have no ego invested in this, just wondering if anyone can shed some light

4)This has nothing to do with conspiracies, I was in fact quite unsure where to post this, but it's something I have always wondered about...
==================================================

With that being said, I am just looking for others who are like me, for multiple reasons. While curiosity as to how many others I find is the main one, I would also really like to see how they differ from me, and what we have in common.

All my life, I have been good at pretty much anything I have ever tried. Everything has come easy to me no matter what it was, somethings that are just silly, others pretty beneficial. I'll list a few things I am really good at just so you get an idea.

When I was in 5th grade I started building robots
6th grade I started making video games
quarterback for my football team
singing
rapping (lol, yes, especially freestyling off the top of my head)
keyboard/piano
multiple forms of dance
guitar/drums/saxophone
writing, reading, giving speeches
drawing, sculpting, painting
running, soccer, lacrosse, basketball
photography
persuasion, magic tricks, math, girls, acting

The list goes on and on and on, my point being, I everything I have pretty much ever done has just been easy for me.

Now, just because everything comes easy for me, doesn't mean I've lived an easy life. I grew up poor, went to several different high schools because I had to move so much, I've had my house burnt down and even had to live in a one room motel with 5 other people.

But I have no real complaints, I feel like I couldn't complain even if I wanted to. I hardly ever get mad. I never feel the need to argue with anyone over anything, even if I'm right it doesn't bother me to just let them win.

All my life it did scare me going through high school though, wondering what in the world was I going to do with my life? Naturally I wanted to be a rockstar. My mom wanted me to go into computer sciences, my grandmother wanted me to be a lawyer. My poppop wanted me to be a doctor. I could quite literally do what ever I wanted. But I didn't know what I wanted to do.

One thing that interests me is philosophy (go figure eh?) but going to college soley for that would feel like I am wasting all my talents. I'm the kind of person that watches movies, sees the extras walking around in the background and wonder "hmmm what's their story?" So I traveled around the U.S. finding people and finding out their life stories. This was great, I met alot of interesting people, and made some good friends.

Sorry, now I am going into ramble mode, hah, I have so much to say, but I will keep this short and wrap it up.

A few other notes about me, I am biracial (black and white), I am left handed, I do have relatively bad eyesight(contacts or glasses), perfect teeth (never needed braces), fairly good health (as far as I know). Growing up I used to get random nose bleeds often, allergic to only certain types of cat hair, if I can think of anything else I'll post it.

But my question is this: Who else out there is like this? I would really love to hear from the people who are good at everything. Not just art, not just science, not just sports, not just good looking, not just conning people, not just public speaking, not just math, not just literature, but everything.

I would love to see how many others are out there like this, and what your life has been like, and how you feel about it. Thanks.

i doubt your good at everything.

im good at anything artistic and good at sports, im good with persuasion and manipulation. but maybe your "good" is my "average".

I want to see somethings youve done artistic. At my previous place of employment people would tell me they were artists after it old them and would have other people coroborate how good they were,"they're really good" type #...turns out..."really good" was my "average".

U2U me a link or something.

You sound alot like the "ive never lost a fight" guy.

---------------------

im not trying to be negative, but to be good at everything..... cmon.

i think people like us just have a fast learning curve, anything we pick up and practice alittle we can get very good at very fast. its not that we are good at everything, we just learn fast.

Even if what you say is vaguely true there are specialists in every field that you cite that are going to be very skeptical of your claims at being good at all of these things. For example; on guitar can you cross-pick at 480 bpm across 3 strings? If you can I'd be quite impressed. What is the extent of your knowledge of scales\modes? Can you play a 3 octave half tone whole tone scale? Does your left hand little finger stick out as you play? etc. etc. I mean how good are you at guitar?

A proclivity for learning is not uncommon but the question is what do you mean by being good. Being OK at many things is not that uncommon but specialisation and mastery are very different. You must have heard the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none" ...it sounds like you may be OK at all these things. I know specialists in some of the fields of activity you mention so I can provide you with some concrete examples of what it means to be good in these fields.

I hate to be the one to point this out to you but you come across as being quite narcissistic which is a terrible affliction.

Welcome back to ATS Gabriel. I'm not the one you're looking for. I absolutely SUCK at golf and tennis, and my rest stroke when playing classical guitar has a lot to be desired. Of course, I had the tips of four fingers of my right hand cut off in a jointer accident, so that is perhaps a mitigating factor. hard to have a good rest stroke when your fingernails grow at 20 degrees off-center and curl around your fingers

Welcome back to the fold. I'm sure you'll be thrilled to know that my metal playing is as sharp as ever.

tinypic.com...

There is a picture I drew in a paint program, I don't have a scanner so I cant show you anything by hand, and I don't have a drawing pad on my computer so that was done by mouse.

But yea, you guys bring up great points, which is one thing that I mentioned in my post, I didn't know what I wanted to do growing, I didn't know what I wanted to specialize in. I didn't say I was perfect at everything, nor did I say I was an expert. But I am generally good at pretty much everything I have tried, take that as you will it doesn't matter to me, I don't mean to sound narcissistic, this thread is hardly about me. I only listed stuff to give examples, I really just want to find other people who are pretty much good at everything they have ever tried, that's all. Like I said, I have nothing to prove, this is only an internet forum, I have nothing to gain here.

I truly am just looking for other people to share common experiences with.

Something that I learned very early in my own life may apply here.
Just because you have never done something does not mean that you cannot do it.
If you rid yourself of your own self taught, preconceived notions, of what you can and cannot do, or better yet, never teach yourself that in the first place, you are off to a great start.
If you are willing to invest the effort to learn something, you can do so.
What is the difference between you, and (pick your field) PHD.
A piece of paper, stating you can regurgitate what's in a book?

Environment, effort, determination, and other variables all contribute, but it more or less boils down to, whether or not you are willing to go forward.
Most geniuses in the world are more or less, reclusive.
The devote their every waking moment to what it is they want to do and eliminate as much of the other influences that divide their attention.

A talented individual can utilize those abilities exceptionally well.
So if you are truly interested in something and are willing to put in the effort, I have no doubt that you can do anything that you ever might want to do and exceed at it.

Proof is for no one but yourself,
Who cares what other people think, unless you are looking for opinions and criticism.
Add their opinions and criticism to your own repertoire, and thank them for adding to your life's experience.
Enjoy the ride.

So all of this is showing you that you have Mastered the outer, the next logical step in your unique and beautiful future is turning inward and seeing what the reflection from your center shows you.

Meditation, Creativity and Enlightenment, I see you as a Buddha already, now you just have to remember.

That is essentially how it is with everything, I do something, find out I am good at it, then stop doing it and move on to the next thing. You can say it's a short attention span or me just wanting to try something new, I don't know. Which is another reason I would love to hear from other people like this.

Funny. I'm just the exact opposite. I have no exceptional talents, there is nothing that I can do that stands out from the rest of the people.

There is always someone thats better then me, there is always someone that takes things more seriously than I do.

Oh well, I don't care. I love life.

Welcome back Gabriel.

Ouch, I am sorry to hear. But I must say, I am glad you have such a positive attitude about it. While I still have everything intact (knock on wood) I have been through some horrible experiences and have tried to keep happy, thanks for sharing that.

Anyone else getting mixed messages here or is it just me??

Aw man, why do you do this to yourself? I had a look at the picture just to give you the benefit of the doubt. Sure, that's a good picture if your a teenager but beyond high school level that image would be considered quite average. There are millions of people out there with similar skill levels across many fields who would never consider that they were "good at everything." Even if you are particularly talented, tlented people seldomly go around saying how good they are. It sounds to me like you may be having personal difficulties of some sort.

Anyhow, your post is just going to bring a rain of sh*t down apon you. Honestly, it is impossible to ignore your obvious need of validation. So sure, I'll give it to you; that picture is ok. It looks like if you actually did some work you may one day actually be able to call yourself good....and hopefully by then you won't need to tell everyone how good you are.

Gabriel, I understand because God made me that way too. Now you must make it your life's ambition to find out how you can use these gifts the way your Creator intended you to use them...and then do it. And whatever you do....don't let any type of substance abuse into your life or God's purpose for your life will never be fully realized. May God Bless You.

What do you mean mixed messages? I don't see how me not arguing and me wanting to hear from other people that share similar experiences have anything to do with one another? You are more then welcomed to ask me a direct question, if you don't understand what I mean.

I really only have one "message". I just want to hear from others that grew up like this. I don't see what's so strange about that. Maybe I am missing something here?

I just want to hear what it was like for the guy who grew up in Arkansas who was really good at everything he did, what his life was like, did it turn out as he expected, did he get a really high paying job or did he end up a bum because he could never decide what to do.

Maybe in my first post I didn't explain myself properly, which is my fault then. I thought it was a simple question, sorry guys.

No problem man, you don't have to prove yourself to me, it wouldn't matter really. I believe you are a better drawer with a mouse then me, my point wasn't that I was the best. I only stated I was good at pretty much everything I have tried. I never claimed to be the best at anything.

I really only asked a question, hoping to get some feedback from others, it's no big deal really, just something that has always interested me.

Dont worry about it. Sorry I came over a bit harsh there...

Maybe this thread wouldve been better suited in BTS rather than ATS? Thats where most this stuff goes

Well, if that guy was really good at everything he would probably be good in making choices wouldn't he?

I don't know, I'm not good at anything, and that includes thinking.
I wouldn't listen to myself.
