See, I think this question is very bias from a human point of view. Why do we expect anything to have the same physical attributes we do? Im not trying to say this is what the OP meant in any way, but there is a kind of human view that the way we are is the same way others should be, everything else is abnormal.

I don't see why they would necessarily mate in the same way as we do, just because they seem humanoid does not mean they have to have any of the same internal organs we have. The process of women carrying babies and our method of conception is not the only method we can witness in nature around us now, so why presume that it would not be any different in ET species?

Who knows... Maybe its like in scary movie and they have more than one use for their index finger.
