Lets you and I kill this bill

americandaily.com

It is amazing the lengths this administration and the democrat majority will go to, to get your guns, while we are watching and holding our breath on cap and trade and Obama care they are attempting to back door another bill, HR 2159. What HR 2159 is, is granting permission to the Attorney general to bar the sale of guns to terrorists and potential terrorists, you know us domestic terrorist. If this bill is passed it will give her the power to deny us the right to buy a gun based on her suspicions. Thereby usurping our 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms, they do not require any real pro

It’s not the cap and trade issue we have a problem with. This is just another back door scheme to take our guns away. HR 2159 will do just that if we don’t stop it. It appears they want the second amendment right taken away from every American citizen.

One day they will succeed. With DOD, NSA, DHS on full alert something’s in the air and it cant be good.

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill

This is serious business my friends, if this bill is passed that list we are all on becomes very relevant, people who are against abortion refused the sale of a firearm, people who have been to war, have fought valiantly for their country refused the sale of a firearm, people who have ever preached or taught about the end of times denied the sale of a firearm, people who have rallied against illegal immigration denied a firearm, people who have emailed their congress or senate denied a firearm, people who attend the tea parties denied the sale of a firearm. DOD has as the answer to the question what is low level terrorism, protestors, are you starting to get the picture here. If they can keep this under the radar they can pass it without one word of dissent, thus scare the hell out of us with these other big bills and slide this in when no one is looking.

It won't work. moderate Dems in Washington have already stated that gun control legislation is DOA.

Besides the fact that it would be deemed unconstitutional to deny someone without due process. You would have to be convicted.

But, I will write my reps anyway and tell them to stop this bill.

They submit bill after bill after bill. Some moron from Illinois tried this a few months ago (Bobby Rush, congressman ) and he got shot down.

But do they stop? They are going to ram their agenda down our throats if it kills them!

Whatever happened to being a true representative of the people?

What a way to start the 4th.

Well it's up to the citizenry to be aware and vigilant to what these guys do in Washington. Then it's up to us to write, call, email, our reps in Washington and demand they do the right thing.

Democracy is not automatic, if left alone these idiots will destroy this country.

You hit the nail on the head.

I wrote the following to my representative and senators in NH.

Greetings [Senator/Representative] LastName,

Unfortunately, I fear that the representation of the people, the true 'everyday' man/woman, is non-existent in this country.

When so-called representatives abstain from voting on issues, when other representatives are freely allowed to cast ballots for yet other representatives in absentia, when representatives are not present to cast their constituents' vote at all, when there is no means to constantly and continuously poll constituents on the issues at hand, when said issues are not at all handled in accordance with the true desires of the constituents, then representation, by definition, is not present.

I therefore urge you and all of your colleagues in Congress to make a priority of utilizing all currently available avenues of expedient two-way communication (phone, web, etc.) in order to effectively and efficiently poll your constituents on any and all issues that you are to represent them on. Additionally I urge you to be present in Congress for our representation, since you have been placed there to do so.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired,
One of Your Many Constituents,

All I got in return was the standard "Thank you for your concerns" crap.

I'm hoping next time Congress gets a 4000 page document they will at least take the time to read it before voting.

The sneaky back door control advocates wont stop. Thanks for writing your representative.

Ive got similar similar responses, especially from the Governors’ office; although I did get action once and was thrilled beyond belief. This governor is worthless.

Really, to be fair, how is that sneaky? It says it right in the title of the bill.

Are you referring to them using all the other BS going on to try and slide this through on the sly? That's the American peoples fault. We are the ones responsible to be aware of what is going on in our government. If we don't keep a weather eye on those people, who will?

I don't know if you do this, but it does help.

Write call and email every week. Eventually they will get to know you and you will start receiving real letters from them.

Some issues that they don't care about they will still send you the standard FU form letter. But eventually once you get in their head as a concerned citizen they will start to respond to you slowly.

It's kinda like legalized stalking. If they are to appear at a public event. Be there. Show up and really dig into them about things. They will give you a couple of minutes if you aren't obviously insane.

But always be on their ass about every issue that concerns you. Every single time they propose legislation make sure your voice is heard. That's all you can do. Otherwise there is no representation. You have to be your own lobbyist.

Something I've been wondering about since I saw what happened in Iran...

Could something like that happen in America?

Most likely not, because if hordes of non-uniformed paramilitary started screaming into the streets of Washington on motor-cycles, beating people, or shooting young girls on the street to whip the populace into line...well...Americans have guns.

Is that maybe what the Obama administration is really worried about?

There is going to come a time when the people stop "hiring" these idiots to do such a bad job.
I have written and called my reps for my state and actually one called me back (I couldn't get him OFF the phone) and talked to me for about an hour. I told him if it weren't for his voting record then I was going to run against him. But then again, I live in Utah and don't have to worry too much about the morons (Although we have a few).
But I digress.

You can never trust a politician to do the RIGHT thing. Because, at heart, all they want is to stay in power. The long view doesn't exist for them. They see 'time' as one election to another.

They are not smart. But they do know how to introduce their agenda as yours. The secret is to hit them where it hurts.
Their wallet.
Protests, calls, marches, they think of as cute. Funny, even. If you want to stop legislation then it is time to start thinking like them and hit them where it does hurt.
If you want their attention, find out who is running against them and tell them that your support is going to their opponent. Fight dirty. Fight to win.

Someone posted earlier that this won't pass because of the moderates.
We can't trust that to happen every time.
We need to start acting instead of reacting.

-rant over now. Happy 4th to all. I'm going to make a morning cocktail and try to enjoy the rest of the day-

Peter King, a republican, from New York is the "brain-stem" that is introducing this bill.

I guess it is just further proof that this isn't a left or right issue. It's an us vs them issue.

What I meant was that since they couldnt sneak HR 2159 in to the cap and trade bill they will most likely find another bill to sneak it in, if this fails. It isnt hidden anymore here. That's why we want to stop it.

The Obama admin. is worried about something, since DOD, NSA, DHS are all on full alert. Some claim the flu is the cause. I dont buy it.

Many want to do away with the Electoral College. Or do you mean the civil unrest and blocking media outlets. Yes that could happen here if there was a national emergency declared or if our Constitution gets replaced with treaties.

If things get worse and we have a Dictator it would cause SHTF fairly quickly. I’m still not sure if I’m following you?

Oh, it's more just a way of looking into the future, for a fantasy, conspiracy thing.

Could things in America get as dictatorial, as what you see in Iran. You see organizations being formed by Obama government funding which could evolve into something similar to the paramilitary basiji of Iran. The basiji are the guys bashing heads on the streets of Teheran.

If you look at stuff like the Whackman-Malarkey bill being pushed quietly through government with bribes of power, you see that bill is going to allow the government to micro-manage people's lives. Hell, they're going to watch you flush your toilets. So you have to ask yourself are those two possible indications of government movements in a particular direction a red flag of coming dictatorial control.

Once you have those 2 things mentioned - para-military, and micro-management of society - you have a climate making something like the riots in Teheran possible.

Again though, the one thing road-blocking such dictatorial controls - Americans have guns.

Good insight and yes we still have guns. Let's hope it stays that way.

I see your point and agree it seems we are headed in that direction.

So you guys want terrorists to have guns? I dont quite understand how banning sales of guns to suspected terrorists is a bad thing but what ever when one of them kills your kids or family i guess it will be different.

Gotta love the spin tho . Like a helicopter

This is most surprising. I've had respect for Peter King for a long time now, so I decided to investigate this bill.

* There are already many laws on the books controlling firearms, such as title 18, United States Code

* It appears that King is closing a loophole that some may exploit to supply arms to terrorists.

My benefit of the doubt goes to King. Until I hear further about this, I trust him to do what is right. Here is a summary of the bill:

Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009
To increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of a firearm or the issuance of firearms or explosives licenses to a known or suspected dangerous terrorist.

I know the words 'suspected terrorists' are what frightens people. I would be sorely disappointed if Rep. King intended anything malicious. For now, I will wait and watch.
