Don't think this needs to much explanation will let the picture speak for itself. Taken from the new Lunar orbiter

Here is the original link to nasa image:

Let me know what you think

EDIT: I was in a rush to get this up before going out. My apologies for the confusion of the moon in question. Thanks Zorgon for pointing out that it is infact a Moon of Neptune

I don't think they're towers I'm afraid, and I'm someone who believes there are structures on the moon. having looked at the original picture I immediately noticed dozens of streaks and marks similar to what you have been good enough to highlight. I think they're just streaks and imperfections on the film.

Where this is an interesting feature, to say they are towers may be a stretch, though it does require a bit of examination though.

I will wait to see what Armap and Zargon have to say on the subject.

That doesn't even look like our moon.
Is that the far side?

The link takes us to what appears to be an icy moon of one of the gas giants?

Sure doesn't look like our Moon.

Maybe Enceladus or Europa. Stories of outgassing events there, could be what's casting the shadows.

Seriously? You think those are towers?

There are plenty of natural formations which could mimic familiar forms and shadows - that doesn't mean you should immediately conclude any arbitrary think you *want it to be is what it is.

That occured to me as well, I assumed it was from an angle I am not used to seeing, but I am not an expert on the far side of the moon, so I ignored it. Good question though.

Wow thats a pretty cool picture!
It looks like it is some kind of structure, not sure if it's exactly towers because the detail isn't too great but the shadows to me indicate that both objects are tall...IMO.

Towers or not, it's a good find

It's Neptune's Moon Triton, and the things that look like shadows from towers are NOT shadows but streaks made by the eruption of nitrogen "cryovolcanoes".

This image was take by Voyager 2 in 1989.

Here's an article about Triton:

EDIT TO ADD: Oops! Zorgon beat me to it.

Out gassing is good something some at ATS are good at

There are a few on the limb that are interesting

And this one behind the mark

Looks like the ones on IO

Yes -- they are the cryo-volcanoes of Triton, more specifically they are Nitrogen Volcanoes. Some of it is outgassing, and some of the marks are streaks left on the soil by earlier nitrogen-volcano eruptions.

I agree. It's likely one of the ice moons of an outer planet, and what you're seeing there are outgassing volcanoes of some kind, not shadows of towers.
