Reports of 150 dead today in Tehran, other cities just as bad or worse. Acid thrown on crowds from choppers also confirmed, and basij militias killing anyone who's gone hurt into hospitals.

European embassys taking wounded, basij blocking embassies and forcing embassy staff to leave. Could see european casualties too.

Some examples, today basij shot a pregant women, an 80 yr old woman, 12 yr old boy, many young women, a woman stood on her roof was shot thru' her heart.

Many now marching from other cities to Tehran maybe to capture to use or burn down state tv propaganda station. God knows what outcome will be when basij meet them. Orders are to shoot protestors on sight.

Army are stuck in barracks, some may be ready to revolt and take on the basij.

What happens next is anyone's guess. We are watching thru' Youtube and Twitter.

Obama is smart enough to know the US sticking it's nose too far into this will only weaken support for the protesters. I can't say I've been thrilled with everything he's done since he's taken office, but I think he's been playing this one right.

Iranians may be sick of the mullahs, but they also remember foreign powers like the US and UK overturning their democratic systems in 1953, just as the mullah's are doing now.

If the fence sitters in Iran can be convinced that this rebellion is the work of foreign powers, the revolution will fail and the extremist mullahs will remain in power.

"Talking tough" may seem emotionally satisfying, but there are bigger things at stake, and it's likely to be counterproductive.

The Iranian people and only the Iranian people must liberate Iran from the theocracy.

This is not about us or our domestic politics
