I have an idea. Why don't we dispense with the modifiers and labels that -- to me -- seem be designed to provoke a set response.

Do you want to discuss your own news story? Or debate personalities. Hint: Only one of those directions is a productive choice.

I saw the original title as well. The OP copied it corrrectly. .

Seems they have replaced the original article from BBC site.
You can see from the first couple of posts as to what the article was about.
Bit of a bummer.

Wondering now if they have someone who watches this site?

It was titled exactly as the original article.Hence the first few posts.
Why the BBC removed it,not a clue.

I'm participating in this thread as a member and am not going to moderate it. I see no reason to close it either. Why should we close it? Nah... , let's keep the discussion going imo

Btw, here is the thread about the nuke test in NK:
Did North Korea just test a Nuke? YES they did! (Iran's bomb?)

Fair enough.
I suppose with the title and the original quote still being there it may still bring some discussion.
Some of why was it replaced.
I'd say not the right moment for effect.

I'm a participant in this one.

Easy for you to say, you're Gallifreyan, impervious to mere radioactivity.

No shouter me. But this thread isn't really about you and me. Or is it?
I'm not interested, if so.

I think your story still stands. The OP was seen by at least two of us. I think it's an important story, particularly in these charged times.

That's part of the problem of recent nuclear goals -- it seems to be billed some of the time as a leveling of the playing field, but the piece on the board, nor even the object of the game are the same anymore. Same...... hell, they're not even identifiable sometimes.

What does Iran [the government] want? What do they say they want? Are they the same? Are those goals consistent with the peoples' wish, and does that make a difference?

Lots of peripheral issues.

kind of reminiscent of hurricane times for me, in the sense of staying up all night, watching the 'net. Nothing I can do about either, except stay informed.

Here's an interesting post from the other thread.

How did they improve on their bomb abilities in 3 years when they were also dismantling their systems?

They only RECENTLY reactivated it.

Couple this with Ahmadinejads comments today

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday ruled out nuclear negotiations with other nations, saying, "Iran's nuclear issue is over, in our opinion."

edition.cnn.com...

I think the Iranians just tested a nuclear device, with the help of North Korea.

The north setting off short range missiles is just a red herring.

Yup...

Really good work Hellmutt...... a conspiracy within a diversion. Sounds plausible to me. I wonder if there was any seismic or other data that would support a conclusion as to the size of the detonation. I think I recall reading that it was an underground test.

Scary. To me at least. N. Korea needs a serious infusion of money. Iran has money.

Please, in the future, spare me the lecture. You're making huge assumptions about my background, world experience, and cultural influences. Trying to talk down to me really doesn't further your argument.

I think you exhibit more than a smattering of "western ego". I wonder if you even know what you mean.

It's real simple for me, and yes, I am pragmatic about it: In a world sense, any nation has the right to defend itself, and develop the toys that others have. Except whom? Except those that make public blatant statements about world domination and executing those that don't worship the same diety, live the same way.

Certainly, Gallifreyan, there have been all manner of inconsistencies and horrors perpetrated by the U.S., Israel, and allied nations. I don't recall any of them, however pledging to execute or otherwise destroy others based solely on their difference of religion.

So, yes, I'm apparently an infidel, and one with Western ego -- an ego that says I'm officially against anyone who wants to backshoot me or mine -- in actually or metaphorically.

The real and true shame of all of it is the Iranian people, who are held hostage to the violent aspirations of their leadership. They are the real victims.

Starred, the North Koreans are also being held hostage by the leadership they had no hand in electing. The leadership has elected to starve it's people in favour of building a military designed to do what? Protect it from whom? Nato, not so much if Nato or the US had designs of taking North Korea or Iran or Pakistan or any other country they very well could, never mind the yelling and screaming of other countries, who would be there to stop it from happening, no one. The military build up in North Korea is designed to take South Korea, period there is no other practice use. Before you answer, what does North Korea think they are protecting with this Million Man army? From what I have read there is nothing there in the first place?

With what is happening to the protective layers surrounding this planet I wish
I could be radiation proof.Thats another thread though.

With the countries that do say of their intensions (SHOUT) i'd say you know where you are with them.
Its the quiet and so called more diplomatic countries
that get to me,knowing what they do behind the scenes.

The behind the scene being told 'Don't do that,do it like this or this will
happen' is what pees off Iran and others countries.

IMO I think what the Iranian government want and where there thinking is at,
is not the same as its peoples.

By no means is this meant to offend anyone Iranian or anyone in general, but I think the people of Iran are a few more years away from the level of its own government.Whos goals are in development and progress of the country to be a bigger part on the world stage.

Being done that way has seen the growth of humanity throughout the centuries.
