Uf ten percent of the population became involved in some sort of resistance the military would stand no chance. You fail to realize its easy to spot those guys while on the other hand the resistance can disappear into the crowd. I know if I decided to pull a John Conner I wouldn't go head to head with the military because that would be suicide. You have to take the advise of one of the emperors of the holy roman empire. He said the man that defends everything defends nothing. No what did he mean? Well let me tell You it means small attacks everywhere. I would blow up bridges, electrical lines, ambush convoys, stop the food transportation, and ambush soldiers while they are taking a dump. You don't go head to head with a professional military. You can make their lives miserable and lower moral by keeping food away and gradually wearing them down with pop shots. Now another point if You disrupt food and electricity to the people they get hungry. When people get hungry they blame the government ... So think about it .... Its called gorilla warfare....

Now this is not my attentions I am just saying what if this happened which more than likely won't.

Thats funny....because it sounds to me like you are overtly advocating terrorism.

Which is funnier...because a few years ago, I remember left-wingers having a subjective stance saying, often implying that in some instances, the same people who we now called terrorists because of those sorts of actions, decades before, we called "Freedom Fighters" of their respective countries, because they were working parallel to our interests in the region....and boy oh boy, were the people who implied that the "terrorists" were once "freedom fighters" blasted by the likes of the people who are now, in America, calling themselves "Freedom Fighters" and "Patriots" and advocating terrorism and armed revolution...

Its funny how everything goes topsy-turvy...

I just wanted to chime in about the why the war will happen not the how. How is not material because you can only push a person so far. While we are disposed to suffer evils while they are sufferable we are reaching a point to where those evils are becomeing unsufferable. Ponitless wars and terrorist police are growing in number supported by unconstituional legislation. People can only take so much and at some boiling point things boil over. And thing aren't just reaching a boiling point for the civilians but for the military too. People of all walks of life are reaching their limits and at some point people stop becoming concerned with the how of it all and the why becomes more important.

Some people just will not knell to lick the boots of their masters reguardless of the personal cost.

Don't mess with us reptillian overlords. We have death rays. Stay in your bunker with your tinfoil hat on, or we will eat your brain with our special 400ft long straws. Ressistance is futile.

First of all, it is absolutely irreprehensible that the first thing anyone is planning to discuss is a revolution. Police your system, stand up for the truth. Say no in large numbers, both in letters, emails, phone calls to your politicians, your political public SERVANTS, and if that isn't enough. Organize sit coms, protests, large walking, dancing, running, events. Call a general strike!!!! Wear t-shirts. Put up signs in your front yard. Educate your communities. Advertise movie nights and show zietgeist, and many other films. Organize public events, and invite guest speakers. Create a local (regional kind of) conspiracy site that is paid for by advertisements and do fun events in the community, infared telescope and equipment to view ufos, face painting, lecturers, speakers, music fests!

Revolution is the absolute last step, akin to a huge martial law thing when they're attacking and harming citizens. Its the last thing you want to do. But the above steps have barely been taken at all. They need to be common place always.

People said no in large numbers many a time now. At the 2004 and 2008 political conventions Large groups of people said no and they were rounded up and put into temporary detainment facilites. In 2003 the whole world saw the largest protest ever against the invasion of Iraq... The US Gov just ignored its people and the world at large and did it anyways.

Sometimes people attempt to police the police. For their efforts they earn police resentment and harssment. Sometimes they even disappear.

As I said their comes a time when the suffering becomes too much and citizens stop care about the "HOW" of it all and they become commited to the "WHY" it must be done. Either we stand for our princables or we stand for nothing.

I starred you because I completely agree.

It is reprehensible that after all the mire we've been through in the past 8 years that the people that are now calling for revolution stood silently in support of, they now turn and call for revolution as if "suddenly" we face something far worse from the new Administration that, lets be realistic, hasn't proven to be all that bad...

This is not to say I just blame Bush....I'll blame everyone back to Eisenhower....but the point is...America hasn't gotten dramatically worse in the past hundred and twenty days alone...and yet they act like it has..

And most reprehensible of all, as you say, is that to these people, Revolution is the first resort....

Say what you will about them...but at least the Europeans know how to protest...and shut cities down with their protests....and get what they want with their protests.....Americans are just satiated with their false American Idols...and then jumping to the extreme.

I have to think that those saying revolution is a horrible Idea must not be living in the US or watching US television... When we organize protests large enough to shut down cities the police set up temporary detainment facilites and start arresting everyone reguardless of weather or not they are involved in the protests.

Apparently only some of us have learned our lessons from the 2004 2008 political convention protests. Or perhaps some folks are afraid of change. When evil is sufferable the it will be suffered but the US citizens of the American Federal Empire are reaching their limit. and at some point... some point soon... people are gonna stop suffering the evils and begin resisting.

Do me this favor if you think everything is hunky dory. goto metacafe and look up police burtality. I would tell you to go to you tube and look it up but the have begun the clamp down on the free exchange of information they dissagree with.

Its a police state yall and that shall change soon... In the words of Obama YES WE CAN!

Oh, trust me, I'm living in the US...and I've seen the brutality that is out there...I've seen the videos on Metcafe, I know all about the "free speech zones" and Pier 57...

What I'm saying, however, is that the level at which we Americans get politically active is pathetic by comparison. That's my opinion..I've lived outside of the US, seen America from the outside, seen Europe from the inside...and I'll say this...when you take a step away from America for a little while..things become even more clear... I was astonished at just how much attention the rest of the world pays to America, and how little we actually pay to it.

And I'll say this too...though it really doesn't matter much in the longer run...the sigh of relief that I heard over in England when Obama was elected was deafening...unfortunately, he has yet to, and will likely not live up to the hope and expectation that an awful lot of people have placed on him.

Its not hunky dory...but I for one think its better than where we were several years ago...or at least I hope so.

This is exactly right.

I've been staying away from the thread because some people are totally convinced that them and their buddies, or whatever, are going to take down a SWAT team or trained military men. It's so much of a joke I'm not even going to argue the point.

I made this thread as a warning to people who are all gun ho and those who are riding the fence. If armed revolution ever goes down, it's going to suck - hard.

For the record. People need to understand this :

America != Iraq
America != Afganistan
America != Vietnam

America = America, you can't compare armed conflict in America to what you're seeing in Iraq or Afgan. The situations are not similar despite what you might think.

That being said, I don't believe our own soldiers would attack us.

Actually, aren't the government now actively recruiting among the Hispanic community (largely composed of illegal Mexican immigrants, whom the government probably systematically let in)? If this is true, then it is very likely (the so-called) "your own" soldiers WOULD fire upon you.

The armed revolution the hard right always foams and froths about every time a Democrat gets in office isn't going to happen for a variety of reasons but the number one reason is this... the hard right is a minority even within conservative/Republican circles much less nationally.

In short even though they like to posture that they do, in reality they do not speak for the vast majority of Americans.

Can revolution happen? Yes of course but it is going to have to take far more than a bunch of disgruntled right wing kooks to get it to happen.

Agreed. Guess though for me since the last time a democrat was in office I was in elementary school it didn't register for me to think like that.

The way I've approached the thought of a second American Revolution was from the standpoint that anything is possible, therefore to discuss and debate about what may happen is a viable thing to do. A bigger reason for me is because we see so many things going on that has made my friends across the political spectrum sit up and go "Wait....what the (insert bad language of choice here)!?!?"

I don't identify as a hard right person, in fact in many of the tests I've taken I'm more moderate (a republican with some socialist ideas) and I try to listen to both sides of an issue.

Revolution isn't a certainty, but its not out of the cards yet. I'd almost hazard that someone in the military has dusted off some plan or another about what to do if stuff hits the fan.

Revolution will happen in this country eventually... but it won't be because a liberal democrat is in office or any other such nonsense...

... it will happen because the government, no matter who is in office, Republican or Democrat has become so inefficent and corrupt that it fails to meet even the most basic needs of the populous....

... it will happen when the predatory capitalist monster that we have created rules with such arrogance and impunity and so guts what is left of any hint of a responsive government with even a shadow of concern for the people that there is nothing left but the idea...

... it will happen when the American dream is little more than a pipe dream and the middle class is reduced to just better off than the poor and that is it... when all the good jobs either no longer exist or have no semblance of security left to them.

we are getting there but not yet.

I'm sorry but... what Amerika are you looking at?

Corrupt and ineffective government... check!
Capitalist monster ruling... check!
American dream a pipe dream... check!
Nonexistent jobs, no security... DOUBLE check!

Not sure what you are looking at but this is what I see happening every day, and so do many others. The worst part is that it isn't getting any better. The things that are going on in the federal government aren't hard to see, but perhaps locally it is a bit out of grasp.

In rural, central PA, there are streets that once had 20 or so business that are all boarded up. The malls are now missing nearly 50% of their former stores. Unemployment has now reached 10% and the amount of employment adds in the area has dropped nearly 80%. What jobs are available are only offered either to the extremely experienced or on a contract to possible position basis.

Every person entire graduating class from college in 2008 with an Associates or Bachelors degree, at least out of the 50 or so I know, has resorted to working in low key fast food or retail outlets. That is just some of them, the rest - unemployed.

I look around and I see protests all the time. I see the people demanding action and at the very best, the opposite of what is demanded takes precedence.

I have always been a scourer of news, and in the past few years, it isn't hard to see the news stories, the ones kept far from the mass media, that are so blatantly infringing on basic human rights that it should be enough to cause any victim to want to revolt.

This American dream you speak of is dead, and has been for quite a bit. There is no more room at the "top" where all the corporate kings have sided with government to prevent it. There is no longer a way for the common man to break through the glass ceiling that has been constructed in order to run for a position and harbor change. The system is broken and anyone remotely calling for convictions of truth and justice is either harshly turned away, or slanted into the ground.

This is the American Nightmare.

The only people who are satisfied are those who are already at the top or those who are too delusional, thinking that it is going to get better. These are the people who in no will of their own, have become the self proclaimed dis-info agents so that the PTB have a very simply job.

So keep spreading your "knowledge" of no hope and "just dealing with it". I don't know what is trying to be accomplished by this topic, if you actually think that we, those who will fight, don't know what we are up against. Some of you people call it crazy while we call it by other terms: will and fortitude.

We will fight to the death to defend our freedoms laid down to us by God and reaffirmed to us by The Constitution. We won't only do it for ourselves, but we will do it for our families, our decedents, and of course - YOU.

It will happen. It is only a matter of when. You can choose to prepare and fight, or stay ignorant and adamant. It won't matter how many guns we have, it won't matter how much technology they have. All that will matter is the collective conscience, the firm belief in all of us who fight: we will win. There is no doubt about it.

I know and understand exactly what you are talking about and you are correct... but Americans as a rule are too comfortable (even the homeless here are better off than the homeless in... say India or Africa or South America) to be easily roused and it will really have to take some major collapse for it to happen and we are not there yet.

It certainly won't be lead by a bunch of right wing kooks peed off about a Democratic president and that certainly won't be cause...

... I expect to see the first serious rumblings when social security and medicare go bankrupt.

it has nothing to do with Left wing, right wing, dems or republicans..what is it with people always labeling something with a political placing?..We are in the # as a whole..It goes across all boundries, colors, pollitical affiliation, ages and sex..

I agree we havent reached the tipping point, but quite a few things can spark a large flame..

Its no one partys fault,we have the country we have now..Both partys are just a mouth peice for an agenda..IE the middle men,for the PTB,that have there meeting, like whats going on right now..

Oh I know that serious revolution will have nothing to do with the left/right divide but at the same time it is always the right wing kooks who get going about open revolt whenever a (what they think is) liberal Democrat is in office... there are multiple active threads going on right now on the subject... they are doing the same old song and dance they did when Clinton was in office... consequently I for one find them impossible to take seriously much less find them either patriotic or inspiring.
