I agree that they have put untold things into the cigarettes over the years. Im sure when cigarettes were first mass produced, they were a bit more "harmless" than they are now. And Im not saying they were ever harmless.

It would be nice if I could just TRUST them and think they are doing this for my own good.

If they lower the nicotine content of cigarettes, that would mean people would smoke more, thus not only spending more, but destroying their health (my health too) even more. Or the smart people would just quit.
As you brits say, this is bollocks!

You are right! We'll smoke more. WHY? They said tobacco was not addictive?

So why would we smoke more?

Anyway, my hats off to you non smokers..and I'm a very polite smoker, I dont smoke in public or around non smokers. But it's going to be hell to try and quit..I can already tell..especially when I have a couple of beers.

What goes great with beer? A smoke of course..and a tall handsome man to buy me another beer...lol

Just to let you know what has happened here in Oz...
We no longer have TAR or NICOTINE levels put on our cigarette packets.

It is the tar build up in the lungs that causes Lung Cancer which is why they focus on this in the quit commercials.

However, in their wisdom, they decided to take ALL THE TAR CONTENT information off the cigarette packets.

The nicotine levels also disappeared, so now unless I stick to my brand, I have no idea what levels are in the other brands.

Believe me, this isn't a decision based on health.
When they start hiding stuff from you, you know it only benefits THEM.

Wake up sheep. It's time to wake up......

When has the government done anything EVER to help the common man? Want to know why they are making cigarettes so hard to acquire and consume? Do a web search for the positive effects of tobacco.

There is something in tobacco that will help/protect against something TPTB have cooked up.

I wonder how this will relate to me buying tobacco seeds and growing it by myself.?

the FDA seem to be fairly easily influenced by lobby groups, either the industry groups or the anti-smoking nazis will inevitably get their claws in and mess things about, either way it's not good.

good luck with giving up or growing your own, they seem to be the only two sensible options.

So, the government has decided i need less nicotine in my cigarettes. Not only that but i also need to pay more for these low-nicotine smokes. What's next? Less caffeine in my coffee? Less alcohol in my booze? Less fat in my hamburgers? Less nudity in my porn? Where does this end? Light cigarettes are already made. If i wanted to feel like i'm sucking on a plastic straw, i'd buy those. When are we going to stand up and say "i'm an adult, leave me alone!" Soon enough, we're all going to have our own personal government issued nannies following us around and telling us all how to live our lives. This is absolutely ridiculous.

I need a smoke...

There is a supreme court case that stopped the FDA in the first place, so I guess the supreme court is not as powerful as congress.

Well really neither is more powerful than the other ....33.333333% power between congress, supreme court and president.

right?
