So i guess messing up my library will propably make these two images above not render within the posts thereafter?

If you're asking whether the images you've uploaded to your MediaAboveTopSecret photos area will stop working if you do things like create albums and move the pictures around in the albums, the answer is no.

The way the media center is organized, the direct path to an image will stay the same no matter what order it's in in your photo albums. So those should be fine

If that's not what you're asking, then sorry for the misunderstanding

On the other hand i dare you try to move an avatar like mine rotating on the left into the new era. I quit trying. Maybe i give it a go in a week or so...

If your avatar shows up correctly just above this sentence, try pasting this code into your MemCenter:

I don't know if it's related, but ATS is constantly crashing my browser these days.
It's the only site I go to where I experience this.

I have a couple thoughts about this. The first is that I sometimes experience a constantly-loading page in Firefox: it will keep a connection to one of the adservers or statistics sites open for some reason. I don't know if it's deliberate or if there's a buggy programming loop that never closes itself, but what I do is hit the "stop loading page" button at the top left of the browser.

The other thought is that there have been a couple problems recently coming not from ATS but most likely from one of the image hosting sites that someone's avatar or signature is stored at. This is a major factor behind the new image rules, but it could have caused you grief in the last couple weeks I suppose. For information on this from SkepticOverlord see this thread about malware and this post about a porn popup.

.....I hope all of this improves soon

I do not know what the person on
Mars People,Animals and Fossils Pics

www.abovetopsecret.com...#
talks about.
Neither do i know anything about the credibility of his statements.

It is certainly anoying though that all the image links are broken.
Its is a pity to find an interesting thread and not be able to have a view or express an opinion.

I see tons of pictures in that thread. You don't see any?

BTW, did you see my post just above GAOTU's post with the video? I put your avatar up on the media site and it seems to be working okay

George, I think your problem is your image is located at another site. If you go to the page that your avatar is linked to, copy the image to your desktop before trying to upload to Media@ATS.

I see the image is located at bestanimations.com by looking at the properties of your avatar. Use the following link to go to the website where the image resides.

www.bestanimations.com...

It is the one on the right. Now right click on the image and select "save image as" and a "save file" dialog box will open with the name of the image as "UFO-11-june.gif" and toward the top of the dialog box should be the location where it will be saved. Change the directory to your desktop or wherever you keep pictures on your hard drive and press save.

Now follow the instructions in the video that Skeptic Overlord made to upload it into Media@ATS. Once you have it loaded, you can copy and paste the link in your Member Center, Account Settings, Avatar URL box to replace the link to your old one.

Hope that helps.

Or, just paste this code into your MemCenter where it says "Avatar URL":

Since I already uploaded it to test it, you might as well just go ahead and use that link

(edit to say unless the mods know of some reason not to, but I can't think of anything)

I'm sure your help is appreciated and I think he can use your link, but I think he is also asking why his image is being a problem where others are not.

Like you I am only trying to help.

ok !! sorted with the avatar thingie. THANKS again !

I do not want to become a pain and certainly do not want to make this a thread about me!

However i have yet another question if its not of too much trouble to you and i hope fellow members will profit from my posts too!

I have uploaded two videos, the UNIDENTIFIED AERIAL PHENOMENA and the Chronological catalog of reported lunar events.

Both are videos of pdf files.
I know if required i could post a link to a pdf. However if i am not able to, how can i improve the quality of the video to render the text readable?
My encoding was fine but ATSs compresion makes it imposible to read.

I need your tips and tricks on this.

If possible also post a link where info like media size and resolution parameters are described to maximize ATS combatibility. i.e. if a picture is of high resolution you only see part of it in the post having to click on it to see the rest.

Obliged,
George

Oops!

Above SkepticOverlord's video, which was posted by Sauron, which has a kind of "ow" sound in it like GAOTU (and like how it feels to stick my foot in my mouth)

@HAL: I do appreciate you were being helpful and I apologize if I came off as snarky. I just figured that sunce I had already uploaded the image to test it, there wasn't much reason to do so again. But it looks like it all worked out
