The YF-23 is'nt really all that big. In fact, it lloks alot smaller than the F-22. Probably because of the lower tail sections. From what I know of
the aircraft, it would've made a great replacement for the F-14. With the weapons of today, payloads are being decreased. Not sure it would have the
external payload capacity that the F-14 does. Although the F-14 is a big bird, it's hard to beat it's overall abilities as a multirole aircraft. JSF
is ALOT smaller.....not sure how they'll fill the role, but the FA-18F Superhornet should be a nice addition. (picture below)
As I also said, the YF-23 based FOAS was more than likely way too expensive so it would make sense to me if the UK only 'Replica' superceded that
proposal, the article linked does metion both FOAS and 'low cost, affordable stealth'. So it fits, and also may explain the apparent complete
disappearance of the project I mentioned.
