California Medical Board probes octuplet birth

www.google.com

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The fertility doctor who helped a California woman have 14 children, including octuplets born last month, is now facing a state investigation on top of harsh criticism from medical ethicists.

The Medical Board of California did not identify the doctor who helped Nadya Suleman, 33, of Whittier, become pregnant with the six boys and two girls born on Jan. 26. Suleman has six other children.

"We're looking into the matter to see if we can substantiate if there was a violation of the standard of care," board spokeswoman Candis Cohen said Friday. She did not elaborate.

Suleman, a divorced single mother, told NBC's "Today" show that the same fertility specialist provided in vitro fertilization for all 14 children using sperm donated by a friend.

Good.

This so badly needs to happen.

This doctor has committed malpractice by establishing such an unadvisable pregnancy. I hope he looses his liscence, before he tries to do something like this again.

I am searching through other articles to see if there is anything in regards to the state evaluating Miss 14's ability to care for her children.

I agree. A multiple pregnancy like that can have severe risks for the mother as well as each baby. I'm sure that the risks were considered, but maybe the doctor responsible should really have thought about the request and situation a lot more. Something could have gone wrong. Luckily, it didn't. Except for the whole 8 more babies thing.

It was difficult enough to have 2 babies. I can't imagine having 8! I think I would probably have chosen to reduce, giving all of them a better chance to live. I can't say I blame Miss 14 for not doing that but the implantation of so many embryos was very irresponsible.

Once implanted though, and all become viable , is it not the mothers choice, not the doctors at that point? A doctor can not make you terminate them , just encourage it.

This is exactly what the NWO is looking for..

They don't want us to have sex to procreate. They want us to rely on them for everything, including having babies. Eventually, sex will be unnecessary. Eventually MEN will be unnecessary!

That is true. But, the situation is different from a abortion if that is where you were going, in the sense that an abortion is done for at least what is perceived as conveinience, a high-order mutiple pregnancy is reduced to reduce potentially life threatening stress on the mother's body and to lessen the chance of severe disability or preterm birth that would effect the fetuses.

At the moment the cost of IVF is prohibitive to almost everyone. She worked the system to get hers done, it's not like this is the standard.

It will be. That's the plan. Start slow, and expensive to make money, then, they'll go all the way!

I doubt very much the NWO will be able to stop people from having sex. Even God Almighty hasn't accomplished that yet.

It happened in 1984.....

Have you ever seen that movie?

Wait. ...

When did God try to stop us from having sex?

No it did not happen in 1984. In that book the children are encouraged to turn in their parents--do you recall the scene in which Winston goes to fix his neighbor's drain and remarks how militiristic his two children are?

I believe you are thinking of "Brave New World" in which the population was systematcially cloned via the Botskanovsky process and sorted out into genetic castes.

But even then, they had a lot of sex, and when they weren't actually copulating, there were the "feelies" to go to.

When I was watching the interview snippet, I definitely noted the irregularity of the circumoral region of her face as well as her lips (particularly upper). Is there a cosmetic surgeon in the house? Excellent picture link to Angelina Jolie.

Do we actually know that this woman has secured an undergraduate degree? What was her major? Who watched her children while she was in class? Who watched her children while she was at work?

If this woman is intending to pursue a graduate degree in counseling -- what area? Clinicals are typically involved in pursuing this type of degree. Time spent in clinicals/labs can vary markedly and unexpectedly and be incredibly time consuming. She states that she intends to "be there ... with" her kids. How? College today, once one is done with clinicals for the day, involves a lot of time spent on the computer. She will be able to sit, type papers and do research while caring for these eight babies and six young children?

Pediatic visits to the doctor are numerous and time consuming with respect to neonates and infants -- in the best of circumstances.

The questions go on and on ....

I really don't think is NWO related.

I really do wonder how on earth she managed to pay for all of these IVF procedures, I have looked into various fertility treatments and none of them are covered by our insurance the cost is outrageous.

There has to be something fishy going on with this doctor or clinic for not only the latest birth but all of the others as well.

This whole story makes me so angry and sad, both for the obvious impact on these poor kids and the fact that we the people will be footing the bill for children she had no business having.

this is an interesting article and topic to say the least

there was another thread about needing a license to breed here on ats and i took the extreme side to play devils advocate and hopefully invoke some critical thinking on that thread, not sure if it worked there or just had people thinking i was psycho lol

but this is very interesting and i will enjoy seeing how it plays out

if it is found the drs and this woman are in the wrong, then we have to think about what the outcomes of whatever the decision will be

will this or could this potentially be the beginning of putting rules and laws on breeding?

EVERYTHING is NWO related

They control the medical industry, the media, the governments EVERYTHING!

This is just another example.

The greatest game the devil ever played is convincing God he doesn't exist. He's playing the game right now, with us!

This woman is part of their scheme. First conrol our sex, then control our thoughts.

It is difficult to say. One one had I really think there NEEDS to be some regulation to stop crap like this from happening, but on the other, I don't want those regulations to be so exclusive that many deserving parents never have a chance, as it is with adoption.
