'Muscle car' UFO hoons over Darwin

www.ntnews.com.au

A MYSTERIOUS blue car-shaped UFO has been spotted in Darwin as it flew across a cloudy wet season sky.

But in the words of amateur photographer Mark Schmutter, 79, "It does look like a car but what would a car be doing up in the sky?"

Mr Schmutter said he snapped these shots as he was standing on the ninth-floor balcony of a friend's CBD apartment just before 6pm earlier this week.

Strangely thoughts of Harry Potter spring into my mind. Then I thought of a baloon, but the witness statement precludes that. It really is a fascinating picture and story combined. I have to say the chap doesn't look like a hoaxer but you never know when it comes to getting your picture in the newspapers.

the skeptical response was:

The Top End Flying Club last year suggested many of the local sightings of UFOs could actually be Sigma-4 ultralight aircraft - informally dubbed the flying sperm - which fly slowly and with little noise.

Although that doesn't side at all likely in this case.

Did John Titor lose his caddy? By the way there's a really cool company developing flying cars right now. They have the tech all figured out and it sounds really promising. I heard the inventor on a radio program lately and I'm keeping my eyes on these guys. www.moller.com...
Maybe it was one of theirs?

Maybe but I really don't think they can fly straight up, not at any great speed anyway.

Pretty ship whatever it is. Nice to see a colored UFO rather than drab grey and boring orange orbs. I hope this means some of these otherworlders have a sense of taste.

A hoon is a rev-head or generally socially mal-adjusted individual. They tend to drive big powerful cars ina very loud and environmentally irresponsible fashion.

Why "muscle car"? Why not just "UFO"?

Looks like '77 Monte Carlo or feces to me. Regardless, they're interchangeable.

Peace

Read an article earlier about someone who was test flying their car. Apparently from the article I read it can stay in the air for 4 plus hours...

Not sure if this is the article I read.. but it may help answer the OP's findings...

In an expedition worthy of a Jules Verne novel, a British adventurer will embark this week on a journey from London to Timbuktu — in a flying car.

Briton to pilot flying car to Timbuktu

It's a paraglider car though, saw it in the news and there is no mistaking it really. Again it can't really fly straight up.

The moller car mentioned earlier I know about and is somewhat credible but to my knowledge none are even in Australia let alone flying about.

You guys clearly have not seen the latest MTV reality show, "Pimp mah Saucer".

That thing probably belongs to x-zhibit or some other pimp ass rapper.

On a serious note, the pictures have very little contrast and look CAD'ish, but if it was a digicam I guess they would. It would, however, be nice to think some beings out there have sport model ships to just whizz about the cosmos for fun. Maybe I should break out the hitch-hikers guide to the universe...

From the article:
"The club's Mark Christie said the blue object didn't resemble any of their aircraft though. He said at least one of the photos looked to be altered with the object cut and pasted on to the background."

I have to think if one photo is suspect then the whole thing is most likely a hoax. I would be interested in seeing the orignal photos.
