Spacecraft Cassini has found that Saturn's moon Titan is covered with 100s of lakes and seas filled with oil. It has 100s of times more oil than
Earth. Whatever next? Gas from Uranus?
Discuss.

I too have to say haha. Seriously tho this could answer a lot of problems and make some others. Everyone's going to be racing for uranus, I mean,
saturn. Wow, I think we might just have enough oil to make man made global warming real!! All we need is that oil and some more time.

If there is oil there, does that mean that the moon once had life on it too?
I thought oil was formed from dead forest and things

Oh noooo... the last thing we need to do is spend billions so that we could get that oil and still not move to an alternative energy source.
Aack!

Ya it makes alot of sense doesnt it...oil out in space, go mine it, bring it back to continue using an antiquated energy source from another planet to
further fill the coffers of those already with full coffers.
No doubt this shows how heavy the addiction is to the oil drug IV...creating a fantasy fix to keep from comming down.
NO MORE OIL!!!
Hydrogen is the answer.
Cheers!!!!

I expect to read in the next few years major advancements in nano-tubes and then you will here we are building a pipeline from here to Titan. But
hopefully somebody will tell them they might as well extended it to Uranus.
That's cool though how did it get there though. What caused it to form.

I am sure that an alternative enrgy source (almost any type) will be cheaper and more cost effective then hauling oil across Solar system.
And our Moon is a potential energy source by itself. Much closer.

This should mean that the moon was once inhabited with life, unless theres something about the formation of oil that im missing.

The article says the moon's surface is covered with methane and ethane. This is different than oil.

maybe this will finally shut up those dummies that keep saying aliens are on earth to enslave us into harvesting resources for them. for god's sake
there's oil sitting in lakes and oceans on planets nearby. not to mention all the asteroids out there.

Ya the mining ships will use ZPE engine drives and power systems to deliver 1800's tech oil from Titan to Earth.
Makes perfect sense!!
Cheers!!!!

It would be zero use to us here, after all solar would be cheaper than transporting it to earth, but it could be used as energy for operations nearby,
such as a space station, mining colony or some other unforeseen endeaver.

OP, did you even read the article you posted? There is absolutely no mention of seas of oil. There are hydrocarbons, yes, but no mention of oil. The
earth has much in the way of natural gas that remains untapped that is much cleaner than oil. So really it is of very little use to us. Interesting
find yes, but again I ask did you even read the article? Or did you decide to mislead the members of ATS on purpose?

Correct. It would help if people would read the article. The compounds are gasses at "normal" temperatures (the temperature of Titan is -290F) and
have nothing to do with petroleum.
